However, instead of placing all the photos in one gallery under our daughter's account, Irvin Simon created two separate galleries--one with four photos of our daughter alone, and another with two photos of her with my wife. I contacted Irvin Simon customer support to request that the galleries be combined since they feature the same child, but they were not helpful and refused to merge them. I had planned to purchase the full digital set for $99, but because they are split into two galleries, I was told I would need to pay $200. As a parent, I'm really disappointed with this photography service. The overall quality of the photos was unexpectedly poor - grainy and badly lit. For the price we're being charged (which is super high, especially for a public school setting!), I would expect much better. What's most frustrating is that there seems to be no alternative offered. All three of my kids photos have come out terrible the past 2 years. I placed an order under the guise that a family rebate program was available and submitted the required form to no avail - I never received a rebate for my three kids' sub-par photos. I tried to order just a single 5x7 photo for each of my kids but this is only an add on option. All the packages are expensive for what you get. read more

Honestly, just consistently terrible pictures. Overexposed, unflattering lighting, with the tackiest backdrops. Year-after-year. After conferring with other parents, I've also come to conclude that it's not just my kids who are always looking like they're in a state of discomfort, which leads me to believe that an element of a good child's photo is a truly experienced children's photographer, which Irvin Simon probably does not tend to have. To top this all off, the photo packages are totally overpriced in this digital age, structured to upsell, and nickel and dime. It just reeks of an old, slimy business model. I hope that the schools are getting some kind of PTO money out of it, or else I hope / pray / dream that someone else better comes along, disrupts their business model, and puts them out of business. read more

My son's school used Irvin Simon for yearbook and senior photos. We paid $130 for an 8*10. I wonder if the company lacks experience with darker skin tones. We were speechless when we received the picture. My son looks like AI with matted hair. The picture is embarrassing. I was informed by a customer service rep to mail the photo back. Not only did we receive an overpriced AI photo, but now we need to pay to mail it back. Unacceptable! read more

My school used two different photographers this year for school pictures. The other company was literally half the price of Irvin Simon. I understand the cost of everything is going up because of the pandemic but $25 for two 5x7 is nuts. I have four out of five children that took pictures with this company. There's a third child rebate but to get the most basic package I could do a family photo shoot in a studio with more pictures than this company provides. I'm going to talk to our PTO about the next picture day and choosing the cheaper company. Cheaper doesn't always mean better but honestly the other company shipped the pictures fast and they came out very nice for my son and we received a digital copy as well. read more

My child is Asian. I wonder if the company lacks experience with photographing Asian skin tones. The photo looks...eww...so unflattering and harsh. The sixteen-year-old seems to have easily aged ten years in the photo. They really are the worst, not only taking 1 photo and even restricting my daughter to only do one pose which is plain blunt and sad. I was given access to three galleries (one for each child and a siblings gallery) for a total of 10 images (minus the group photo). Since I'd like digital copies of the 10 images I needed to add the $99 "Photo Download - Unlimited + Group Photo!" package three times into my cart and am left with a bill of over $300. Aside from the cost, the ethics behind this is bothersome. If I had a gallery of 999 images (the max amount of photos that can be added within a single gallery), I would be paying $99 to "reproduce, edit and share" those images. The communication with customer service is sporadic and I was extended a subpar discount whose rationale has nothing to do with my concerns. The human component of this company is lacking and there doesn't seem to be a sense of moral conviction as I sit helplessly waiting for them to communicate with me. If you can convince your schools to steer clear of this company, do it! I know I will. read more

Unfortunately, this is my 2nd time dealing with this company because my child's summer camp uses them. I was given 1 proof and it was out of focus. In order to get 1 download of a single pose AND a print of the group, this company wanted to charge $50! $50 for a single print that I can purchase via Mpix for less than $1. I don't know why schools and camps continue to use this company - what they charge for their subpar photos is downright criminal. P.S. - When you use full blown flash under the bright bright midday sun you should be able to get perfect focus with a faster shutter speed. On top of that, maybe don't blow out the skin and make everyone look like ghosts? You probably don't know about it since it's clear your photographers never spent a day in photography school learning like the rest of us. Every year I order the school pictures and always have to request a retake. They dont seem to care about how your child will be in the picture. I have been observing this since last few years but could not make myself think it until two other parents mentioned this- every single school picture I have seen of my son's class or other classes, all the white kids are made to sit or stand in the front and all the brown kids are somewhere at the end, on the side. And not one time, every single time without a doubt, I cannot believe this company is still in business in this day and age and that too in a diverse place like NYC. Well I don't mean to pile on, but I have the same feedback as so many. The worst pictures. My daughter is 2 years old and we dressed her in a cute dress and they cropped the picture from her chest up and she isn't smiling. It looks like a mug shot. Pretty awful. And the group shot they have on the paper they sent home isn't even avail to purchase. Their e-commerce experience definitely needs to be brought up to par. And they really need to hire photographers that can get multiple poses, close up, more wide shot and maybe have a couple of props or something to make it more engaging. read more

Worst photos ever! I wasn't impressed last year. This year it's even more disappointing. Just received my son's school photos and they are terrible. The class photo has bright spot just in the middle (1/6 of the entire photo), the rest of the photo merely got any flash light! It was a rainy day when they took the photos. They should have done something to help the lack of natural light situation. The lighting in my son's individual photo is of really bad quality as well. read more
