This was my first time staying in a hostel. Since it was so cheap and close to all of the things we wanted to do, my friend and I decided to give it a chance. Isaacs Hostel is basically a money trap, they charge you for everything from towels to locker space to keep your things...but all in all it was a great experience. Despite the Finnish man who farted in his sleep all night in our 16 bed space to the having to lug your things up three flights of stairs due to the lack of elevator, I had a great time. I definitely wouldn't do it again since I'm used to hotels but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the people that come to stay here are a riot, full of fun and laughs. It really felt like an adult sleepover that never ended. The beds were really comfy, mirror space was limited, and the wifi definitely cut off a lot and didn't reach the basement or the upper levels but for my first time in a hostel, I felt safe and secure. Btw, the bar crawl really isn't that great. They will advertise all of the amazing benefits of buying it for 12 euros, but when you go out, you still have to pay for all of your drinks and MAYBE you'll get a freebie or two. read more

A friend of mine recently stayed here when she was in town and I went to pick her up there. I found the hostel really nice and they had a cool downstairs eating area that tends to a really nice communal feel. It's super convenient to Busaras and Connolly Station and thus it's perfect if you're looking to go somewhere early the next morning. The only thing I didn't like is that it's down a dark alleyway. I'm sure it's perfectly safe and I've never ever once heard a bad thing about it. It just gave me an uneasy feeling walking down it in the darkness. It's also a bit of a walk away from city centre after a night out. A walk that is a bit sketchy at parts. So really I'd just recommend to get a taxi back! read more

Isaac Hostel is very cool. I was in a 16 bed-room which was clean and accommodating. The staff was nice and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the lobby had a curfew (23:00). The hostel has a restaurant right next to it and you can order a Full Irish Breakfast - VERY GOOD! The hostel was right next to the rail track so you can hear when the local trains are coming, but after awhile you get use to the sound of screeching that you don't even realize the rails are right there. The had a full kitchen that everyone can use. Just buy your groceries and make it in the kitchen. Cheap & Affordable! read more

It is so handy for most of the poular places in town. The bunk rooms are shared, but very well maintained and clean, but for 10euro a night it is not bad. This was one of 3 hostels we stayed at while on vacation. Though I'm definitely more of a hotel person, this place wasn't bad. Probably the better of the 3. It was 14 women in a room, I'm not sure if they have coed rooms or no. The showers were constantly out of order on our floor. Also you need to hold down the button for the water or it will stop! The beds are bunk beds, only two levels (some hostels are 3). I'd say this hostel has the most room/space to move around, and the comfiest of beds. However, be aware there are lack of outlets in the rooms, they do have some in the halls and main area. The WI-FI only worked in the main area on ground level but NOT in the rooms. Also remember to bring flip flops and towels for the showers (though you can buy towels there)! read more

I love this place. It's great. Really really great as far as hostels go. The place is usually packed with students/young people/travelers which is awesome. Sit next to someone and start a conversation. The good: -Free breakfast. Well, they have milk, coffee, corn flakes, bread and jam. It's not an amazing selection but it's free. Don't complain--we're all trying to save money. Also, in response to Erin-- the staff cleans the dishes now. I'm not sure if they recently changed it or maybe you thought one of the staffers was a hosteler. Either way, everything was collected and cleaned by the staff when I went. -The communal showers and bathrooms are cleaned every day. I would get up early and take a shower, finding out that the cleaning woman did everything already. -You need your card key to get into anywhere. This means not just anyone can walk in and start trouble. -They have HUGE lockers that fit 2 large suitcases and a backpack for only 2 Euros a night. You have to put a deposit of 10 Euros, too. I've stayed at hostels where they don't have lockers and have only one key per room. You want to stay somewhere where you feel safe and your possessions are safe. -The staff is really nice. They didn't give me a hard time. When I stayed with my boyfriend, they made sure they gave us the connected bunk bed so we could stay together. -It's very close to Busaras Bus Station and Connolly Station. I easily took a bus from Dublin to Belfast via Busaras. I didn't have to pay a taxi and only lugged it for a few blocks. Definitely worth it. A few drawbacks are: -You can only get wi-fi in the lobby and in the basement. I think that's because they want people to interact with each other as opposed to sitting in their room all the time. They also probably don't want people on the internet Skyping while others are sleeping. -The hostel is near the train and trolley, so it gets a little loud but they sell ear plugs for very cheap. read more

I didn't actually make it to staying here as our trip is completely cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Corresponding with staff to cancel our reservation was ridiculous. This whole virus thing is way out of our control and the staff would not refund us or even work with us to book for a later date when we're permitted to travel. We will not be staying with them when we eventually re-book our travels and would not recommend them to anyone even if this was a last resort. read more

Decent quality hostel at an affordable price. Bathrooms are separate and are not en suite. Free WiFi and light breakfast available at the hostel. Decent amenities, most of which you wouldn't find in a hostel this small. Good location close to the city center, and close to all services, amenities, grocery stores and shops. It is though located underneath a railway line that can get loud sometimes, but it's nothing unbearable, and thankfully the trains don't run during the night. read more

I had a great time in Dublin and part of it was because of Isaac's. The staff was friendly, helpful and provided great advice from food spots to good museums. The rooms were nothing special, they were fine, they did have mirrors in the room which isn't always the case in hostels. The bathrooms were clean and common rooms were never too crowded but always had enough strangers to start up a conversation and make new friends. The price is good, the breakfast is ok and free wifi! I will be back to Isaac's on my next trip to Dublin for sure Also a plus the hostel lends you adapters for free! read more

Isaac's was the first place I landed when I arrived in Dublin. I chose this hostel over the hundreds of others because of its proximity to Busaras and the picture of the hostel lobby on the website. Yes, it is close to Busaras, and yes, the hostel lobby is nice. In future though, I'd probably opt to stay at a hostel in the Temple Bar region or on the southside... a little bit closer to the action and a little further away from the dodgy northside. As far as hostels go, Isaacs is pretty good - friendly staff (big bonus!), fantastic common room, nice enough rooms, free breakfast, and large kitchen in which backpackers are able to cook meals. The downsides of my stay were the proximity to the train line and associated noise (although you do become immune after a while!) and the fact that there were a lot of building and repair works going on while I was there. Also, the showers alternated between freezing cold and boiling hot, you never knew what you'd get!! And just beware that if you're staying by yourself in a mixed dorm, you may very well find yourself shacked up with a group of 17 year old can sculling, bad-brand vodka downing mingers from Birmingham... it happened to me!!! read more

My parents stayed at this hostel when they came over to visit for 5 days. Very friendly staff, beautiful common areas, clean and well equipped kitchen. Only the hallways leading to the rooms were really smelly but the room itself was very good. Age average quite young (loads of students coming back from partying in the middle of the night) but for the price, the hostel was definitely worth it because of the perfect location and very good amenities. read more

This hostel isn't really in the middle of the craic (oh yeah, look at me, Ms. Americana using the local lingo--holler!), but it's close enough. It's located down an alley, next to another hostel and the hotel that is also Isaac's. Transportation is pretty close by, and you are RIGHT ACROSS from the Busarus stop. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay and don't mind a little walking, then this is the place for you. Don't use the internet at the hostel, it's a rip off--walk down the alley to the internet cafe where it's €1/hour and .15 per page to print. Also there's a market within walking distance, so that is lovely! :) read more

Pretty good value for what it costs. Free sauna, pool (billiards), wifi. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Do not go on the bar crawl! The free booze isn't worth it and there are much better bars in dublin than what they take you to. Edit: when I mentioned this to the staff they took it quite seriously. Since this is the first time in a Hostel I have little to compare to, but for the price I paid I cannot complain one bit. Clean rooms and bedding, the only messy thing was the GF and her clothes everywhere (along with mine). Great place. I noticed on the wall that it was the 10th best in Dublin. Honestly it is quite affordable however I feel like you could find a better hostel for the same price, or should pay a little more for much nicer. CONS: -Walls are PAPER thin. Honestly it sounds like they give you lead slippers when you check in. Also can hear doors close from rooms away. Worst night of sleep I've had in a long time, and I sleep like a rock. -Said lead slippers were used by service people at around 8 AM!!!!! Who needs to clean the bathroom at 8 AM and again in 30 minute intervals when you are trying to sleep. -The whole hallway gets very steam as there are no doors on the communal bathrooms/showers. -Says free wifi, but only in common area. NO WIFI IN ROOM. -This is a pro and a con-- there is a hostel owl. Every night there was an owl right outside our window HOOTING into our window. -Train station is DIRECTLY next to the hostel and is incredibly noisy. Sounded like trains were headed straight for our beds. PROS: -It is quite affordable -Good location in city of Dublin, everything in walkable distance -Easy commute from airport -Great security-- need room keys for everything -Free breakfast, however it is just toast. read more

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOSTEL! THIS HOSTEL IS NOT SAFE! I had my iPhone stolen right from under my nose (literally, it was under my pillow as I slept). Somehow, two random people that didn't even go to the hostel got in and robbed two or three rooms. Later, I found out from the desk attendants that most of the doors are broken and don't close properly. Their solution was to put up cheesy laminated signs, instead of fixing the doors. I don't even know how the thieves got past the front desk and only know it was two guys, because some of the other guests told me. The hostel's camera system is useless and only an illusion of safety as it seems that no one watches them and even after the theft, they weren't able to use them to find the people who did it. The rooms don't even have lockers to keep your things safe. For 2 euros a night and a 10 euro deposit they offer lockers deep in the basement, which is both an annoyance and an inconvenience. It's also ultimately pointless if the valuable cell phone that you might want to lock up is also your alarm clock for the next morning that you would be able to hear if the locker was in the room. I spoke to the manager of the hostel was completely unsympathetic and, frankly, very rude and he seemed like he didn't even care at all that I had lost something valuable. He was more concerned about being defensive, denying all responsibility, and refusing to repay me anything, not even the generosity of compensating me a night's stay. He didn't even care when I said that someone could have snuck into the room and killed me in the middle of the night. Apart from that, everything else about the hostel was completely unsatisfactory. The rooms were extremely hot all the time, which was weird because it was freezing and raining outside all week. Any footsteps on the floorborads in the hall or above produce loud creaks in every room around, making it very difficult to sleep. It wouldn't be a problem if the hostel wasn't full of hundreds of people and if they weren't mostly kids, that always hung out and partied in the lobby and in their rooms all night long, presumably because they weren't old enough to go to bars. They told me that they offered a "full continental breakfast," that was nothing more than instant coffee, sour (but really sour) orange juice, stale corn flakes, and toast. It was also only open from 7:30-9:30 and promptly closed. The kitchen was big enough, but they hardly had enough plates and bowls for everyone. I tried to keep groceries in the refrigerator, but a lot of my food was stolen. The facilities also weren't that great. They offered only one computer with windows xp that broke constantly, rendering it useless. The wifi also only worked within fifteen steps from the reception desk. There were also unnecessary charges for nearly everything additional that you could need. Ear plugs were 50 cent, towels were two euro, laundry was six. I asked for ear plugs on multiple nights and was told that the desk worker was going to call the sister hostel and bring some over, but it never happened. In addition, I asked a couple of the desk attendants in the morning about things to do in Dublin and they couldn't really answer any specific questions. They knew where the Irish museum of modern art was and they could circle it on a map, but they couldn't tell me what was inside. They didn't know that it was closed and under construction for the season, which cost me time and train tickets going to the other side of the city to try and see it. I also went on two walking tours, one sponsored by the hostel and the other by a different company. I found the outside company's tour to be much much more informative and entertaining having been given by a charismatic, authentic Irish student. There are plenty of other highly rated and equally affordable places with a much better location and much better facilities. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Absolutely gross, everything was molding and smelt terrible. Showers require one hand to hold down a button and make it almost impossible to wash your hair with two hands. The sink was rotting away and the curtains in the bedroom were full of bleach spots and dust. This place hasn't been updated in a very long time and needs a good update. My stay here was alright - I absolutely loved the staff; they were all very friendly and helped my friend and I figure out our plans. The staff I give five stars, but the accommodations are a bit unkept. The bathrooms were dirty pretty often and I know they can't always control it when people vomit all over it but, waking up to a bathroom still covered in vomit was pretty gross. The water in the shower only stays on for like 5 seconds, so you have to keep pressing it...I'm all for water conservation but that's a bit over the top. Breakfast is very strict in the morning and ends on the dot at 10am - I got there maybe 10 minutes early one day and barely was able to get a piece of bread before the staff member cleaned everything up! I stayed for a week and noticed they end it sharply. The rooms are clean but the top floor (the 18 bed) is really stuffy and hot, especially when it's full. The hostel does a lot of fun events though so that's a big plus! Oh the other super annoying thing is the wifi: we had to login to Facebook and "check in" at the hostel every time we wanted to use the wifi. It sounds stupid but when you're staying for a few days, it gets annoying. I felt pretty safe at this hostel though and it has a generally very friendly vibe. read more

Isaacs is really conveniently located for Bus Aras, but apart from that, is a little far away from the action in the centre of town. Hiding away off the main street down a little old alleyway (quaintly named Frenchman's Lane), the hostel is far bigger than it looks from the outside. The whole hostel was under renovation when I was there in April, and they've done a really good job. The front lobby is huge and modern, with tables and benches where guests congregate until the 11pm curfew in the evenings. There's a really cool cellar-basement with a few computers (with internet and Skype headsets that actually work), some benches for chats with other travellers, and a sauna which is free for guests. Continental breakfast is included in the price, and there's a cafe adjoining the lobby if you want something a bit more substantial. read more

This hostel was a slice of heaven. There were so many things to do, the staff is ACE, always willing to help you and make your holiday what it should be. The rooms are just like any other hostel rooms, their clean and a bit smaller depending on which room you choose. Their wifi is decent, their service is excellent and they have a beautiful lobby and basement hang out area. The only downside I'd have to say about this property is the location. If you're looking to be right near temple bar this isn't the place for you. Its about a 15/20 minute walk from the start of temple bar, however you are near all the main shopping strips. One other downside is that the bathrooms are not in your hostel rooms and you have to hold a button in the shower to activate the water- which isn't even a comfortable warm.. a bit lukewarm. Although, these things are all doable and able to be disregarded during your stay and will not ruin the rest of your trip! I hope you enjoy your stay and pick Isaacs Hostels :) read more

Probably the cleanest hostel I've experienced. Friendly staff. Super clean. The showers / toilets were clean. They do have a key cars for access to the rooms. There are enough outlets even throughout the hallways. The kitchen was spacious and you can prepare your meals. Wifi in common areas. Check in via yelp and the deal was free locker. You can also get a towel for 2 euro. Again, I felt super Comfortable and it was very affordable. Everyone was nice. I would stay here again. read more

A great hostel, this place is close to the town centre. Although it is not a 5* hotel the staff aim to provide 5* service to all. The inside of the hostel is beautiful and the prices differ with each room but are very cheap and reasonable. I had two friends who have stayed here due to its central location, competitive prices and friendly service. When I went to visit them in the hotel I myself was very happy with what Isaacs offers. You really get what you pay for....a cheap hostel. The room was so hot at night is was really unbearable. We had asked for a fan several times but they refused. The floors in the room were so loud that latecomers had no chance at being quiet. The staff was great though. Very willing to help you out. The hostel has a good location. The pubpcrawl wasn't anything special. Would have been more fun to go to a bar with live music for the night. I wouldn't go back to this hostel. read more

The people that work here are great, very friendly and helpful, always have a smiling face and gave great recommendations. They even gave us access to shower long before our check in time, and kept our passports in a safe behind the desk during our stay. Rooms were a little warm, as can be expected in hostels.
