We sat for over an HOUR waiting for our food while tables around us, with guests who'd arrived a half hour after us, were served their mains. We sat there with empty drink glasses and growling stomachs. Not impressed. The potato skins appetizer was ok, but when my main dish finally did arrive, it was lukewarm at best, and the squash was under-cooked. Honestly, I can't say that I would go back ever again. I used to be a big supporter of Isaac's Way when I lived in Fredericton 10 years ago, because I like their fundraiser initiatives and community support, but it's just not enough to make me want to go back again to pay for a meal that is subpar. read more

I really love this restaurant, which is deceptively large in the inside. From the decor to the food to the service, everything was top notch. The decor is a little quirky but homey. You are greeted by a giant sculpture of a chef in mid swing with his frying pan. The walls are decorated with plenty of art pieces to admire. We had the fried clams with fries and there seafood linguine. Both were made very well with great flavor but the comfort level of the pasta was the winner. I stopped in here for dinner with a few colleagues and made my reservations on OpenTable. This restaurant is located well if you are staying at the Crown Plaza or Hilton Garden Inn. If you are in Fredericton for a conference I recommend reservations. Their menu has quite a selection of locally sourced food including clams, pork and fish. For my meal I shared the Avocado Toast with the red pepper sauce. I don't usually like to order Avocado Toast as I find it such a simple dish but I was sharing with someone else. What made this toast great was the red pepper dressing that they put on top and the homemade bread. I paired my meal with an Italian Pino Grigio which was no Santa Margarita Pino but was a bit sweeter and went well with my Pork Tenderloin. The pork Tenderloin was cooked to medium and it was served with roasted rooted vegetables and potato wedges. The outside pieces of the tenderloin were a bit dry. The middle was much better. It was marinated with a house mixed rub and was quite tasty. Come here with a group of friends to enjoy some local New Brunswick meals and great atmosphere read more

I had breakfast in a snowstorm. I was the first customer for Sunday brunch. Eggs were done the way I wanted. Baked Been's were tender but not mushy. Potato wedges were good. Bacon was cooked to crispy and was tasty. The multigrain toast was great with the right amount of butter and was great with the yummy homemade strawberry jam. Price was a reasonable $13 with tea or coffee refills. The tea was hot and steeped well to a nice hot blend. The atmosphere is a warm inviting Cafe with good privacy in booths or at tables along windows. I enjoyed my meal and the friendly staff. I think I will come back for dinner/supper. read more

Issac's way now location in old historic york county court house is totally amazing. I was hoping to love this place but too many things prevented me from awarding more than 2 stars. Firstly, they allow dogs in the restaurant which I find disgusting. Secondly, it took over three attempts to have someone light the tea candle at the table. I was hoping for ambiance on date night but no. Thirdly, when I asked the server which wine she suggested would best complement my meal she informed me that red wine would be best. She was the Jon Snow of sommeliers, for sure. She knew nothing. Fourthly, the kitchen served me a steak medium-well when I had requested it to be blue. Criminal! The highlight of the evening had to be our hostess. She regaled us with the history of the building and even loaned us a reference book so that we could properly sate our curiousity. Well done, thank you for that! read more

I've recently been here twice and plan on returning! The court house burger (guilty) was quite nice and I had one of their salads as well which was filled with tasty fresh vegetables. Their plates are colourful and flavourful, and while they aren't cheap, they also aren't priced exorbitantly. Nice place, nice service, most importantly nice food. read more

I'm a New Orleans boy at heart, though I now call Massachusetts home. One thing you know about anyone from New Orleans is we like flavor in our food. Not necessarily spicy (though that's good too), but flavorful. So after a week in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada my overall impression of every restaurant I went to was... bland. Not "bad" per se, just really lacking in flavor. I can't say I really *enjoyed* a meal since arriving. They were all fine, just... boring. Until tonight! Isaac's Way is great. I was quickly greeted on my entry and I asked to sit at the bar. Sadly the bar was empty, and I haven't had a chance to make any new friends tonight, but I don't feel I can blame the restaurant for that. I looked through the menu, and while the cocktails looked refreshing, I knew I needed to drive home and opted for a local beer. It's one I've had several times since arriving and I like it. The appetizer list definitely stood out from other places I've visited in town. It had none of the usual items I've seen every night I've been here, and several interesting fusion dishes. The chickpea samosa and chorizo spring rolls particularly looked nice. I ordered the spring rolls, thinking I'd follow that up with the steak. Wisely I decided not to order that until I got the app. Which was pretty big. It was also really good. The chorizo was spicy, but not overpowering, the cream cheese was just enough to take the edge off, and everything was crispy. The accompanying cream sauce was also a nice addition. Having determined that there was no way I was eating the NY Striploin after all those spring rolls, I switched gears and instead got a small order of fish and chips. The fries were perfectly fried and tossed in a salt and herb mixture that wasn't overpowering, but added good flavor. The fish was... well it was fried haddock. Not a ton to be done with it. But it was well battered, well fried and tasty enough. The accompanying tartar sauce definitely helped it, and was quite good. I used it on the fries too if I'm honest. The small salad was dressed with a sweet mustard dressing and nicely refreshing. I was pretty full at this point, but I figured, "What harm can come of listening to the desserts?" A lot apparently. The waitress spoke two of my favorite words: "bread pudding". I had to order it. It was, of course, huge. I barely made a dent. It's breakfast tomorrow. My server Megan, was attentive without being overwhelming, which was especially nice since I was alone at the bar. Overall this place would have been a solid 4 stars even in Boston or New Orleans, here it was a slice of heaven. I can't recommend it enough if you find yourself in the Fredericton area. read more

I went here for brunch with my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it! The manager/owner was walking the floor and very friendly and informative about the venu. The venue itself is really cool as an old courthouse style building with one of the records vaults turned into a private dinning area. The restaurant is covered in warm tones and local art as well as hand crafted pottery. The food was as good as the decor, we had the stuffed French toast and red pepper frittata with coffee and they were absolutely delicious. As a bonus our bill came with an offering of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Doesn't get much better than this, highly recommended, looking forward to trying out lunch and supper some time. read more

One of my favourite spots in town. It's located in the old courthouse - the layout is super cute! There's a patio available in the summer and there's an ongoing art auction with local art all over the walls. The food is so good and there's something for everyone. They also have weekly lunch specials that are always a hit. Their ingredients are fresh and local and everything is of high quality, without getting too pricey. They also have a gluten free menu that is specifically cooked separately to avoid cross-contamination - a very important factor for some highly-coeliac family members. I discovered that this nicely decorated eating establishment is located in the former courthouse. The service from everyone there was nice, friendly and attentive. I ordered the "Special" that night, which was the house Burger, a bowl of smokey Black Bean soup and a cole slaw. My burger was good, but it could have used just a bit of seasoning. Amazing farm-fresh food, delicious local microbrews, exceptional service, and a beautiful ambiance... I could go on, but I'll save you the long list of gushing adjectives. After living out of a suitcase for ten days, my boyfriend and I were really missing the goodness of a wholesome, home-cooked meal. Expecting to have to wait until finally settling into our new house, we were beyond pleased to stumble across Isaac's Way. In a nut shell, you can expect to be served up some healthy, locally-sourced tasty treats that won't break the bank. We really enjoyed the fish cakes and the chorizo burger! I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Tara who made our visit extra special - she really went above and beyond to share her enthusiasm and genuine hospitality with us. To be honest, the entire staff was exceptionally friendly. It honestly felt like they just really enjoyed their work and we're proud to share it with their guests. I visit Isaac's way every time I come to Fredericton. They source local ingredients and their food is always simple and tasty - never overly complex or arrogant. I tried Mead for the first time (so delicious) - much like ice wine but not overwhelmingly sweet. Atmosphere is great and for the two of us, we shared an appetizer, each had a drink, entrees and desserts and the bill only came to $75. We decided to try Isaac's as one of the few restaurants listed in a farm to table list we had. We arrived after 8:30 and they stop taking new guests at 9:00 so the service was a little rushed, but otherwise friendly and attentive. We decided to split 4 starters. 1. A daily special plate of mussels - plump, juicy with an excellent sauce, this plate knocked it out of the park compared with the mussels I had a few days earlier on the Ile d'Orléans. 2. A roasted beet and goat cheese salad - good, but not great. 3. Scallop fritters - a mean thing to do with something as delicious as a scallop. The fried something could have been any seafood and tasted the same. A bit over cooked. The accompanying dill mayo wasn't, in my view, the best pairing. 4. Local chorizo sausage spring rolls - what a surprise. I loved them and still can't figure out if the flavours were what the local producer put into his sausage or whether Isaac's chefs worked some magic on them. Served with an avocado and mint sauce that went very well. Being new to Fredericton, we decided to wash it all down with some local beer - Picaroons. So, two hits, one OK and one miss. But the hits, the vibe and the service made me think that 4 stars is a fair rating. I would go back. read more

I was staying at the Crowne Plaza next door, and this restaurant was recommended by hotel staff. It's cozy and pleasant inside. I loved the fact that there were no fewer than 5 vegan options on the menu for dinner. Decent wine and beer list, too. I enjoyed my black bean burger and sweet potato fries - my companion had the pork tenderloin and potato. Her comment was that the potato was supposed to be "smashed" but it was really just baked. OMG eat here! Such a cute restaurant, love the architecture of the building and the interior design with local art. I came here for breakfast, I had the red pepper chèvre frittata which was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend had the stuffed French toast (blueberry) which was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. My main was Squash Wellington which I found awful, ate very little. The quinoa wild rice blend, fresh mixed greens, and citrus hollandaise sauce were great.
