Let me be clear, I take supporting Native-owned businesses very seriously. The website didn't specifically state it was, but given the name and location (across from the designated tiny reservation and yes I was disgusted with the little spec of land the Canadian Government gave them.) as well as the art on the walls, we had to assume that it was. The menus didn't provide any clues (indigenous foods or bio on the chef) and it wasn't until we asked about the bread that the server explained it was a traditional Native bread. That part was at least encouraging. However, first impressions were not. We walked in at 3pm on a weekday and there wasn't a soul. It took the "hostess/waitress" at least a full minute to look up from her phone. Strike 1. The establishment puts forth the online presence that it's fine dining yet the waitress had tattoos on her neck... strike 2. If we wanted a biker bar we would've gone to one. By looking around as we crossed the bridge from Fredericton city center, we crossed a "value boundary" and we were definitely on the wrong side of the tracks... we tried to look beyond that and focus on spending tourist dollars where it means the most.....the hostess/waitress really made that challenging. When she finally decides to grace us with her attention span she begins to interrogate us as to how long we will be as they have reservations 2 hours from now.... ?!?!?!? Uh, as long as it doesn't take you that long to cook it.... mind you, not a soul in the entire place... it was like an SNL skit. Thankfully it was shift change and we got a young man that was at least an upgrade in the attitude department. We ordered the lobster roll (when in Rome in that part of the world), haddock stew and seafood fettuccini. While both entrees and the soup were decent, it was not a $50 lobster roll. We're happy to pay , if it's worth it that is and this was no different then what you find at a food truck. Kept having to search for the waiter for water. It took him 25 minutes but it finally occurred to him to bring a carafe ... and hopefully that the food was a little too salty since we ordered local ciders and still needed more water. By no stretch is it fine dining in the conventionally held sense but it's certainly elevated for the neighborhood. On that note, it was rather comical when the biker tatt'd hostess offered "outside dining" when it was not only a heat wave but it was clearly in a seedier part of town. I guess it's all relative to one's lived experience. Just not one I'd repeat. I wouldn't go out of your way to dine here unless you are inspired to spend your dollars in the community. read more

I found the lobster linguine too creamy for my taste not balanced in my opinion. Perhaps another option would be better. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The bannock came with a side that was served in a plastic dish a little cheap for a "fine dinning restaurant". Walked 40 min across the bridge to get here can't say it was worth it. My experience perhaps an outlier. Ambience is ok at best. read more

Best bacon wrapped scallops in New Brunswick! Friendly service, fine dining, open concept, summer patio and ample parking. Opt for the Lobster Roll for a quick lunch, but stay for the atmosphere with family friends. Not the most budget friendly ($90) for 2 people. If we could give zero stars we would. This was an absolute disastrous dining experience. We ordered the surf and turf because we had been told by locals it was the best place to get fresh lobster. The lobster, prawns and scallops were completely cold. We told our server right away, unhappily she took our plate away, only to bring it back microwaved! The seafood was rubbery and the medium rare steak over cooked due to microwaving! We complained three times. Staff did absolutely nothing! My husband who was starving by now ate some of the meal because we didn't think staff would do anything for us. We were right!! We told them the meal was disgusting and we refused to finish eating. Several staff members came to our table to argue with us, saying no manager on duty and that we would have to take it up with them tomorrow!! Buckle up for my Wolastoq Wharf Restaurant review. Talk about exceeding expectations! With only minutes to spare on a Wednesday night I called the restaurant and Katrina squeezed my friend and I into a reservation for two. This is a busy popular place that doesn't stay open late. I highly suggest a reservation so you don't miss out on such a find. When we pulled up I wasn't sure if it was a converted Speedy Auto Glass, Tim Horton's or defunct hair salon. Don't let the exterior deter you from having some of the best seafood I've ever had! When we stepped inside we were greeted warmly, promptly, and with charm. We were whisked quickly to our waiting table by the window which was clean with menus waiting. Our server Kate raced to our table and quickly made some fabulous recommendations. With a sly smile we agreed that a bottle of white wine was required immediately. She then suggested some of the most crispy, moist, crunchy, and saucy shrimp rolls. The dipping sauce was so tangy and really made the rolls pop! I highly recommend. Next up was complimentary Bannock with fresh butter and sweet molasses. Soooooo good we could have eaten several helpings but held off for the main attraction. LOBSTERS FOR TWO! Market priced $40 each, which was fair considering the size of these beauties. I must admit that we humbly had to ask for a tutorial on how to tear into "Travis and Jeremy" we named them. Kate was more then happy to find the restaurant manager who came over and in a couple fast ninja moves on my friends Lobster we were off to the races! So delicious...and such good butter. Hahahaha had to ask for some hot lemon water and napkins for the mess we were creating. We finished it off with a huge slice of Carrot Cake, which was heaven, and homemade! It was delivered by the very chef who made it to our table. Talk about service! It was so big I had to box at least 1/2 home. Such good portions. 5 stars to Kate, the manager, and the kind kitchen staff who made our stay with them so memorable. Never really sure what #1 seafood in town is going to mean when you get there. Bookings are a must especially if the is a conference in town (we were part of that conference). It's a small, out of the way place on the north shore, easily walkable (or cycle like we did). Stunningly pleasant staff, shout out to Sarah our server. Nice environment but food takes it even further...cooking to remember Fredericton by. Started with a house salad and my partner the mussels. Nicely done on both counts. Garlic cream sauce for the tender mussels, perfectly done, I'm told. I'm a vegetarian than occasionally sins on fish once a year, pan fried haddock, potatoes and glazed carrots left me guilt free. My partners lobster roll also hit the right notes. Clean, fresh and delicate. Olive oil instead of mayo kept it light. Can't comment on coffees, deserts etc, sorry about that. I must admit I was disappointed with the food here. The restaurant itself is very nice inside - small, but with with clean lines and very professional staff. The wine list was the first negative sign - barely a dozen wines total, no sparkling, all low-priced ordinary selections. Okay, this is a beer drinking town, so let's move on to the food. I started with the mussels in a garlic leek sauce. The mussels were way overcooked, not just a little. The sauce was very tasty - creamy and delicious. Then I had the seafood risotto. Again, overcooked seafood, though not as bad as the mussels. The risotto had so much cream and cheese in it that you could hardly taste the seafood. My friend had the lobster stuffed haddock. He enjoyed it, but once again, it was overcooked so the fish was rubbery. Portion sizes are decent, they go heavy with the cream and cheese, and maybe locals liked overcooked seafood, so that might account for the popularity of this place. But with these prices, I found other places to eat in Fredericton that served much better food and actually had wine lists to select from, and I'll be going there instead of here. read more

Came today for a late lunch. The restaurant was empty sans one table where the waitress was engaged in a conversation about how poor a specific employee was. Myself and my lunch partner stood at the door for almost 5 minutes while the tirade went on. Not once was our presence acknowledged. We turned to leave and the waitress at this point said towards us "I'll be right back". I stated in return as I left that "How could you be right back when you never were here even once". I hope the co-workers read this. 2019-07-12 @ approximately 2 pm. I'm sure this restaurants food is of great value and and other employees would be much more respectable towards you. We arrived around 6:30 after making a reservation. Place was full which was a good sign. Unfortunately that was the highlight. We came to the Maritimes knowing we would have a lobster dinner at least once and this was our chance. We were told of dinner special but nothing else. When it came time to give the server our dinner order only then were we told that they were sold out of lobster! Complete joke. No lobster in a so called seafood restaurant in NB. The seafood risotto was decent but very very rich and heavy. The beer selection was terrible and the wine list was bottom barrel stuff, nothing actually selected beyond what you find in main shelves of liquor store. I had to ask server twice to bring my appetizer. Between courses no one replaced cutlery so again had to wait when food arrived. Then they were just dropped onto the table. Would give this place a wide pass. read more

Just to make it clear I'm not a picky eater and my husband makes fun of me because every time we go out I usually always rave about the food. The restaurant attempts to make it elegant but just slightly misses the mark. It is nice but I wouldn't say elegant. The night that we went it was very busy and loud. The staff however were very polite and provided good service. I thought the wait time was reasonable, for what you would expect for this type of restaurant. They provide you with Bannock (bread) with butter and molasses, which was very good. We attempted to order the Salmon 2 Ways as an appetizer but we were informed they didn't have that and a couple of different items. So we ordered the the Calamari instead. We also ordered the Pesto crusted haddock. The calamari was good but not fantastic. It was crunchy but the crusted batter could have used something in it. I found it to be bland. The pesto crusted haddock was over cooked and dry. I love pesto but there was to much on this white fish and I found it over powered it. We ordered the creme brûlée for dessert. It tasted very good however the texture was more like pudding than gelaton like. Over all it was okay but I can think of other places I have been for the same amount of money that were a lot better. read more

Off the mark. This place is new and definitely has some kinks to work out in the kitchen. My dining guests and I had appetizers, main course and dessert. I ordered the raw oysters which were quite good but the accompanying oil was confusing and really muted from the taste of the oyster. My companions calamari was overcooked and chewy. The salmon two-ways was quite nice so that was somewhat redeeming. My main course was the seafood risotto which was completely under seasoned. I think the chefs do not taste it before it leaves the kitchen. Once I dosed it with some salt and pepper it was pretty good. My companions ordered the lobster which was really over cooked and dry. Which was a shame for the price. Dessert was creme brûlée which was a bit of a disaster. It was pure liquid under a sugar crust which was too thick. As if the water bath step/oven step was completely skipped. The server mentioned that different people prepare the desserts. The place definitely has potential and the wait staff was top notch. We gave honest feedback to our server and felt like she was being beaten up by us and other tables sending their food back. Hopefully the kitchen will work out the kinks as the concept is well thought out and cohesive, the kitchen just needs to step up their game. This restaurant is a great addition to the meagre pickings found on the North side. There have been many improvements since it first opened. The staff is less awkward and more punctual, the food more consistent, and advertised wines are well chosen and usually available. Some of the food is excellent, especially the oysters, muscles and fish dishes (although my husband has tried the meat dishes and enjoyed them very much.) Congratulations for working so hard at improving service and presentation. It has made a big difference. read more

Staff were very friendly and professional and the restaurant interior was very simple but elegant. The bannock, a nice surprise as choice of bread, was warm and freshly baked. The food arrived very quickly which was great because we were hungry but it made me wonder if everything was reheated rather than cooked to order. The amount of food on each plate was generous. I had the grilled haddock which was overcooked; the roasted potatoes accompanying the fish were dry and did not taste fresh. The grilled carrots, which tasted like they were freshly harvested, were the highlight of my plate. My food was slightly underseasoned and I added salt and pepper which is quite unusual for me. My husband enjoyed his seafood risotto. I am giving this a 3 because the meal was reasonably expensive and although there are many good things to say about this restaurant, I would expect that fish in a seafood restaurant would not be overcooked. read more
