Apparently a reincarnation of Panaderia La Regia which was located on Piney Pond Road in nearby Brodnax, this recently-opened business (in the old Food Deals storefront) houses a bakery which produces some of the best custard-filled donuts I have ever tasted. Their donuts and pastries are light in texture and not overly sweet, and there is an extensive selection. I was told they bake daily. We recently enjoyed lunch from their counter in the back - three flavors of tacos on corn tortillas and a chicken sopa. The taco and sopa fillings were tasty and served with a selection of cilantro, fresh lime wedges, chopped onion, and sauce for topping. We have also sampled their house-made tamales from the dairy case which we steamed at home. The cheese and jalapeno tamales were delicious and generously filled, and the pork and chicken varieties are in our freezer awaiting dinners to come. There is a nice selection of Hispanic groceries available, including some fresh fruits and vegetables as well as staples and spices. The store is clean, bright, and well-lit.
