The fact that my kids regularly walk into the director's office to play with her toys and books while I visit with her says something: this is a place that welcomes parents and their feedback. I saw this firsthand lately as my 4 year old daughter struggled to fall asleep during nap time. While some of her classmates were transitioning to the non-nap room and I was worried this might be the only option left for our daughter, our family just wasn't ready to do it. I reached out to the staff, and the administration met with me and even took the time to bring in the classroom teacher to brainstorm what would work best for my DAUGHTER. They listened to my needs and helped come up with an incentive system that worked wonders (we are now SUCCESSFULLY sleeping at nap time!). I appreciated their willingness to see our needs and meet them in ways that I know took time and work for them. My daughter LOVES going to school. From the summer water days to the Jog a Thon to the 4th of July Bike Parade...there is always something fun happening and a bunch of parents on the sidelines to cheer and take pictures. I always feel welcomed in the classroom and I like the care the teachers put into the environment. It feels clean and safe, the teachers PLAY with the kids and teach them how to interact with each other, and it just looks like a lot of FUN. The staff cares about knowing my daughter and they appreciate what makes her unique. For a working mom like myself, I'm so thankful I get to leave my daughter in the hands of a staff who will LOVE her and help her grow.

Our family's experience at Bradshaw Christian School Elementary was incredibly disappointing and…read moreultimately led us to withdraw our children. One of our biggest concerns was the school's approach to child behavior and emotional development. In our experience, staff were quick to view behavior as a discipline issue rather than asking what might be driving it. Instead of teaching emotional regulation and coping skills, our son was frequently sent to the office to "reflect," which felt more punitive than supportive. We often felt that shame and compliance were prioritized over helping children develop the skills they were still learning. The school's mission states that it is committed to nurturing students' spiritual, academic, physical, emotional, and social development. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. When our child struggled with managing big emotions, we felt there was little curiosity about what he might have been experiencing or what support he needed. Instead, conversations quickly centered around behavior plans and recommendations for evaluation for ADHD. From our perspective, the behavior plans emphasized earning approval through compliance rather than building emotional regulation, resilience, and connection. We were also concerned that, unlike public schools, private schools are not required to provide many support services. Families whose children need additional help--whether speech therapy, emotional support, or other learning accommodations--may find themselves responsible for arranging and paying for those services. In our case, we were told that if our child remained at the school, we would need to provide and pay for a full-time aide in addition to tuition, uniforms, school supplies, and required volunteer hours. To be fair, we did encounter a few teachers who genuinely cared about children and wanted to help them succeed. However, those experiences were overshadowed by what we perceived to be a larger school culture that lacked understanding of child development and trauma-informed approaches. We also noticed significant teacher turnover during our time there, which made consistency difficult. After transferring our son to public school, the difference was remarkable. He was met with compassion, appropriate supports, and educators who focused on understanding his needs while teaching him the skills he was missing rather than punishing him for not already having them. He has flourished academically, socially, and emotionally. Every family has different priorities, but if your child has big feelings, emotional regulation challenges, speech or learning needs, or simply benefits from a more supportive and individualized approach, I would encourage you to carefully explore all of your options before choosing Bradshaw Christian. Our family wishes we had.

We had mixed luck with his teachers, and I was left wanting a closer relationship with the person spending a bulk of the day with my child. From the moment I met Ms. Taz in her classroom for a tour, I felt an instant sense of calm and connection. My son felt comfortable enough to start interacting with the classroom materials. Not to mention, it felt pretty amazing to see a South Asian woman of color (just like me) leading the classroom. Over the last 2 years, I've been able to see my son gain independence, social skills, and learn how to be respectful. Ms. Taz is always available to answer any concerns or questions that I may have. I feel comfortable approaching her, and appreciate the small and diverse classroom size which fosters a close relationship between my son and other students in the classroom.
