Great staff and teachers! My kids love coming to daycare every morning. Their teachers are so involved and caring and always on top of things. ‼Our family had a deeply disappointing experience at this preschool, which led us to withdraw our daughter. Despite arriving just minutes after 9:00 AM, she was marked absent and turned away at the door without any attempt to contact us as parents. She was heartbroken, confused, and emotionally impacted for days. What made it worse was the lack of compassion or accountability from both the director and the principal. No apology, no explanation, and no refund for a day of care that was paid for but never received. As an Asian-American parent, I felt our concerns were dismissed. We have filed formal complaints with state authorities. I hope other families--especially those from minority communities--ask the hard questions before enrolling. Don't waste your money or trust on a place that doesn't prioritize children's emotional well-being or basic parent communication. read more

I could not be more disappointed by the management and admin staff that run this place. It really is too bad because the classroom staff are all so nice. Unfortunately the admin staff are all about their paperwork and $$$$. This is a single mothers worst nightmare, save yourself and take your child somewhere else. Not only was I forced to pay for time my son couldn't attend from sickness that he got there, they forced him to stay home when he wasn't even sick. They just want your money, nothing else matters. Save yourself and find a better childcare provider. Don't waste your money here. read more

I'm not one to typically leave reviews, but I think families deserve to know. I gave River City 1 star for several reasons. The most important reason being the lack of education and kinder readiness there is. My daughter attended River City for several years until I pulled her out. She began Kindergarten several months later, and it's very clear that she has not learned much at RC. As a single mother working full time and going to school I was really counting on day care to help me prepare my daughter for kindergarten. They did not do this. Part of their daily curriculum is to watch YouTube videos in a blacked out room with a projector style screen on the wall. There appeared to be very little structure regarding curriculum and very little motivation to prepare the kids for kinder. I'd say RC is more of babysitting than an early learning center. I would have taken my child out, but unfortunately in Elk Grove there is limited child care available. I wish I would have taken her out a long time ago. I feel guilty that she didn't have an opportunity to learn in a classroom setting before kinder. Other reasons I left were it was messy. lots of clutter messy smelly bathrooms that didn't ever seem to get clean-unflushed toilets and the smell of urine was intense. Inconsistent rules: no junk food/sweet treats to be eaten yet the would have Oreo cookie day and doughnut handouts? I'm hoping covid helped them to understand the importance of sanitation. Update: As you can see below Jessica (the owner)is not receptive to feedback. Unfortunately, this confrontational attitude is exactly what I experienced while my child attended this daycare. Very cold and rude. I never yelled at Jessica. I did however express my dissatisfaction, that's why I took my child out. I didn't mention that above due to not wanting to be hurtful or petty. Just for clarification regarding the morning I brought in the doughnut for my child- I read the sign that was posted about no junk food and asked if she can eat it in the classroom and I was told no. In addition, my child left RC around January 2020 and was in the final classroom before kindergarten for about a year. Since I sit and do distance learning with my kinder I can see where the other children are and my child is just underprepared. I'm thankful that we have a great teacher and my little is catching up quickly. Twits in stories and half truths don't allow for one to feel safe leaving their child in RC's care. RC has an opportunity to touch the lives of many families and children and unfortunately they miss the mark. read more

He'd wake up everyday happy and ready to go knowing that he was going to see his teachers, friends and administrative staff. In the time that he attended, he developed great social skills, boundaries and even how to write his name. I appreciate all of the River City staff for everything that they did for my child. We love River City ELC!! Our daughter has grown so much since we put her in preschool. She comes home every day telling us about what she has learned and all the friends she has made. We can see that she is truly happy and thriving in this environment. There has been a huge improvement in her behavior, as well. You can tell her teachers really put effort in helping her grow. I have one daughter that have gone to River City and one that is still there. My daughter who is now in Kinder still talks about how much she misses it and how she wishes she could go back. She is excelling in Kinder and it has so much to do with how prepared she was thanks to RC. My other daughter is in their preschool program and everyday can't wait to go. She absolutely LOVES going to school every day! Many times on the weekend she is disappointed that she doesn't get to see her teacher and friends that day and is excited when Monday rolls around and she gets to go back to preschool. My husband and I are both essential employees and I am so thankful that RiverCity has stayed open through this pandemic and they are on top of all the safety protocols and regulations. We started our son with River City ELC and let me tell you... we are oh so grateful. We're both going to be working full-time and considered essential workers so having child care during this time is super helpful! This is our first child so I can be the typical paranoid parent and the teachers at this school reassure me that everything is fine. So I would like to specifically thank the staff for always answering my questions and concerns and always keeping me in the loop with everything. The staff are sweet to the students and they run the school professionally so you can tell they really enjoy what they do! I have so many wonderful things to say about River City I do not know where to start! My 3 year old son attended for almost a year. If circumstances were different, we wouldn't have left until he aged out! He is my first child to attend daycare, so it was a scary experience for me in the beginning on top of being in a covid Pandemic. River City and the staff were always so reassuring. They had great protocols not just for covid, but for safety purposes as well. They use an app that updates me about everything and anything that my child is doing. You are free to message staff/teachers throughout the day to check on your child. I loved the pictures & videos they would send. They made me feel less guilty or scared to see him having so much fun. His teachers were the absolute best. On days he was having a hard time (very few days because he loved going) they would go above and beyond to reassure him and make him comfortable at drop off. This facility is hands down the best! My daughter started at alittle over 1 years old and I think I was more nervous about it than her! The teacher (Mrs. Susan) knew EXACTLY what to do to make sure my daughter was comfortable with going with a stranger. I was shocked and stood at the door (we started during COVID 2020) so I couldn't enter the center, but I stood there like wow that was easier than I expected! They use the Brightwheel app and update you of every potty, meal and nap daily for you child. You even get videos and pictures of their day!!! My daughter is now almost 3 and has changed classes and is in the Barnyard class and they have 3 AMAZING teachers! Mrs Ary, Mrs Alesia and Mrs Alyssa- just the best teachers ever! My daughter has the biggest smile on her face walking into her classroom and leaving. (It's also a huge sign that my daughter is potty trained at daycare but NOT at home she will not sit on the potty for me for anything). The teachers there really connect with the kids, and you can tell with the bond they show and have! The office staff ( Mrs Jessica, Monique and Rebecca) are the nicest ever!!!! I love the teachers they are awesome and my child enjoys the teachers also. They are very kind and treat my child like their own. I've experienced a overall good experience here with my child. The only thing I don't like is with admin saying one thing, then another staff saying another. That should not be on the parents because of what the facilities staff say, then when they are no longer employed there it's not honored. We were told by a admin we would not have to pay registration fees again due to our child only being there for 3 months. That same admin no longer works there. Then another admin decided to charge us even after I explained what was already discussed. They did pro-rate the registration, but my thing was if your staff tell parents somethings, that should be honored and not going back on their word. That seems a little unprofessional to me. When my son was unceremoniously kicked out of his in home daycare (where he had gone his whole life) I was given 2 weeks to find somewhere new for him. I was devastated and booked back to back tours everyday, River City was immediately the standout. The teachers are so friendly, positive, and involved. The administration team is incredibly helpful, very communicative and available. My son loves it here and is thriving. Its worlds different from an in home daycare, they have impressive set curriculum, picture day, progress reports, art projects, lots of family events, they even did vision testing. They helped my son finalize his potty training and I love their approach to problem solving and conflict. My son is truly blossoming here and it's the best decision Ive made for him, I wish he had gone here sooner honestly. They also have a super convenient app for messaging, payments, and daily pictures of what your child is doing. Security is excellent, there's a door code and you have to check in/out. I feel like my child is very safe here and in great hands. Also: they take child action and made us aware of the process so it ended up being less expensive than in home! read more

My daughter started here when she was 6 months old and she is now over 2. We have been beyond pleased with the care they provide for our girl. They are truly helping us raise her. She has learned so much in their care and every day comes home sharing new things with me she learned at school. She looks forward to going each day and seeing her teachers as well as her friends. Through each of the classrooms the teachers have been wonderful and loving as well as providing an educational environment. They use an app for payment, communication and notifications about meals and toileting which is incredibly convenient. They also post videos and pictures so you can see your little one while you're away! We were new to the area and had to quickly find a place with an opening for an infant and this place has turned out to be absolutely perfect for my daughter and our family. Throughout the pandemic their communication has been thorough and clear and they are doing an excellent job of keeping things compliant with sanitation and hygiene. This review is long overdue. I sent my 18-month old twins to River City last summer. During the first couple months, my twins were sick a lot, and Jessica was wonderful at working with me. I was very happy with the care they received there. The only reason I took the twins out was that I found a daycare closer to my work. The following are a few things that stood out for me: 1. The teachers were very attentive to the twins especially during the first few months when they had separation anxiety and prior to them transitioning to the next class. 2. The staff was good at notifying me when the twins had an injury or became ill. 3. The teachers actually teach the children good manners and habits. My twins were so good at picking up things after themselves. Each day after coming home, the twins would put their socks in their shoes after they removed them and then put the shoes at the same spot. I thought that was pretty amazing for a couple 2-year olds to do. Since this is a large daycare center, it does get expensive having to put 2 toddlers there, but you get what you pay for. I felt comfortable leaving them there knowing that they would be in good hands. Thank you, Jessica and all the teachers, for taking such good care of my twins while they were there. read more

I most definitely recommend river city early learning. My three kids go here my son who is 7 months old, my daughter who is 3 years old and my niece who is 4 years old. The girls always come home telling me what they did snd what they learning my daughter used to only count up to 5 now she can count up to 13. The teachers definitely give the attention the kids need. They all message me or call when they have concerns or just to inform me how good the kids are doing. I get update a lot through out the day of my 7month old like when he went to the bathroom and would note it he went poop or pee, he ate a bottle at this time etc. they inform me when he goes to sleep and when he wakes up. They are treated with nothing but love and care and I am sooo thankful I found them they make me feel comfortable leaving my kids there snd they have a blast and learn about read more

I received wrong information from the staff. The almost gave me the wrong child . My daughter has been attending River City since last year and started out in the Whales Room and now she's in the toddler room (Barnyard). We have been so pleased with the school's patience, compassion for their children, and their commitment to the parents. The teachers have been wonderful, notably Patty, Susan, Samantha, Mayra, and Kathy, as well as many others who stop and say hello to Naomi. We switched our son to come this daycare/preschool about three weeks ago and he is always super excited to go, never complains or says he wants to stay home. The staff here is amazing and like family to him already, he had to transition classes about a week in because of his age and doesn't complain at all. My children have went here for two years I can honestly say the director is amazing!! Jessica is very understanding and probably one of the best directors I have met. She is very strict at times but also if you are willing to work thru issues if your child is having or strong willed she will go above and beyond. As any daycare there are some teachers that come and go or do not turn out to be a right fit I have only seen a few teachers go which is good for stability. Mrs. Monique is amazing for toddles, ms. Miryssa is awesome also. I have been to about 5 different daycare providers and this one was our fit for our needs the 5 others I can honestly say didn't not worry about my children's needs, how they learn what they need, or take care of them like their own. My children need consistency and structure and this is fully provided. They also are children that need to feel safe and be in a directional environment. As any daycare there will be kids who come in and pick on other students or show that they are not a good fit behavior wise for river city. This is closely monitor only to keep the other children safe and so the teachers can provided the care each child needs so you may get random feedback if those parents belong to one of the children that were not a good fit . If you are looking for a center where you do not have to worry about your child While you work I would advise you to try river city learning. A absolute plus to me is when the school was being closed prior (Phoenix) jessica the director and her husband went through hoops to keep the school open as a new center yet transfer everything smoothly. I really respect all the hard work the staff puts in and each day my children go to school smiling and happy rather than crying when I leave them. The. Crafts and summer program is a plus especially when they involve the sport opportunity. So if you are looking please do make this place a priority to check out. read more

Kids stay Busy, the classes are organized, and clean. Having raised my older girls, 8 and 9 as a SAHM, it was VERY hard for me to leave the little ones since going back to work full time. My son just started attending River City beginning this July. And so far I am very pleased to say that this center has been working out so great for me as well as for my son. I know it is rather early to say but I'm just extremely pleased with how everything went as far as how my sons enrollment process, how informative the staff is, & how my sons first day went. Just overall VERY pleased with the outcome. My son is always excited to be dropped off here every morning, the staff are great from what I've been able to witness personally. His teacher Ms. Elvira, has been very helpful with updating me on my sons progress in her classroom which I am greatly appreciative for. I had really high expectations for this place because of all the wonderful things I've heard. I looked at several other places to send my four year old for preschool and right away, I felt very comfortable with the staff at this facility and was so excited to send him here. Rebecca and Jessica are the sweetest ever and my 1 star review really is only for the faculty member my son was being taken care of by. Unfortunately, there was an incident in the classroom and my son fell and hit the back of his head causing a pretty large bump to develop. An incident report was not filed at that time nor was I called. When my son's grandmother came to pick him up, the teacher did not even let her know. I only found out when I picked my son up and he was complaining that the back of his head was hurting. When I checked him sure enough there was a large bump on his head and I rushed him to Urgent Care. When I spoke with the faculty member in charge at the time of his accident, she showed absolutely no concern and did not acknowledge to me that she did anything wrong by not calling me. I understand bumps, scratches, and bruises are a part of childhood but I should have definitely been informed. My son could have had a concussion and no one bothered to pick up the phone to let me know. I should have listened to the warning signs when the other parents in my son's class told me about how this particular teacher was making political comments to the children and playing favorites. Needless to say, I ended up pulling my son from this facility and placed him in one where he is very well taken care of and he couldn't be happier. It's a shame, this facility has potential to be a wonderful place. read more

My 1 year old has been going to this school since he was 3 months old and we absolutely love them. My son gets excited when we walk through the door, he reaches for his teachers and blows me kisses as I walk out and leave for work.
