I always wanted to do this and had it on my bucket list. I saw this on Groupon and decided that I was going to go for it. The day came on May 11th and the nerves kicked in. The airport sits on a grassy area off of a dirt road. The planes are small propeller planes. On arrival I watched the video and signed some legal documents. The video was pretty in depth and frank about what you were doing. It also a plus when the returning jumpers share their experience and thrill. The Tandem jump instructors told us the different steps and what to do. They take 2 people at a time depending on weight. They only take people up to 240 lbs. You also have to pay extra if you are over 200. The wait can be up to 4 hours. I waited 3. You are placed into harnesses prior to you boarding the plane. You can also purchase a video and pictures for an extra cost. This was a great bucket list adventure. It was a thrill of a lifetime. You are made to feel comfortable throughout the experience. The staff is great and my Tandem instructor Patrick was great. I highly recommend. read more

I'M SO VERY ANNOYED with Capital City Skydiving. My husband and I already had to reschedule once and they didn't have anything available for us until (their last jump day of the season) over two weeks after our original date. My husband got an email confirmation today saying we were good to go and so he took half the day off work to get us there on time. This was supposed to be my birthday present. We drove an hour and a half and pulled up to an empty building and a woman waiting outside. She has been rescheduled 4 times saying they canceled our jump. She too didn't get an email/text saying we were canceled and waited on hold in the parking lot for over an hour. HOW RUDE! Because we bought it via Groupon they said they wouldn't refund us. Their communication with their customers is very poor and I would NOT recommend them. SO DISAPPOINTED! read more

The two tandem jumpers were awesome. The staff taking care of all the finances and overcharge are horrible. Bought two Groupons and it was super difficult to use and was not able to enter into the website. So they charged me full price for two jumps on my credit card and took me a while to get that refund. It wasn't the whole refund kind you! It was partial and still had to pay for pictures and video. It's not worth the cost to get the video. It was draining and the experience was great till it was time to leave. Totally messed up my high mood and went straight to an upset mood. read more

Booked my first skydive with Capital City. I have been looking forward to it for weeks. Last weekend I was supposed to jump Sunday at 4pm. They called Saturday and asked if they could bump me to 5pm for plane maintenance. I obliged. Sunday we get in the car to make the trip, 2 hours one way. To be canceled after we are almost there because the plane over heated on the morning jump. They promise me a T-shirt and reschedule me for today Saturday at 5pm. This morning they call at 11:00 and ask to bump me to 4pm. Again, I oblige. We got in the car and began the 2 hour ONE WAY trip AGAIN. Less then 10 minutes from the facility and they call to cancel AGAIN because the pilot is sick. At this point we have driven a combined 8 hours and were told by the person we spoke to that they can not offer a refund. They aren't authorized to do so. We were given a number to call that is only a Monday through Friday number. Not implant all with the HORRIBLE lack of customer service. read more

Capital city skydive has been a nightmare to deal with. If I could rate 0 stars I would. I have now spent hundreds of dollars and have been waiting for 2 months. Cancelled consistently every week, which is fair because of safety concerns. But the weekends that were clear weather we were told all booked up and unavailable. Zero compensation. Zero help from customer service. In fact, trying to call customer service I have been on home for a total of 1.5 hours and hung up on 3 times. Long story short, there is a reason their prices are cheap; they are, in fact, the worst. read more

Went skydiving Monday Aug 8th with my 19 year old daughter, as a birthday gift to her. We absolutely LOVED it...our instructors were Patrick and Tamas and they were fantastic. If you are even thinking about trying this, stop stalling and DO IT! I will definitely go again, its amazing, truly a life changing experience! This is a very small operation, but they did a great job. Everything was organized and we never felt nervous or unsure about the jump. read more

Well! All I can say is I had a blast! My instructor: Angelo! He was awesome....the staff very good...We were thinking due to the weather the jump may not happen today, but Thank God! We were able to jump. I went by myself, there were other ppl/groups there, so everyone intermingled w/ everyone, so it did not feel as though I was a lone....The instructors were informative, and made you feel very relaxed.....then it's time....Solider UP! Let's Do this! No regrets! And I would highly recommend this com....without a doubt.........Turning 50 has gotten off to an awesome start!!!!!!! The next phase in this journey called life. RUN!!! DO NOT WALK away from this place they are the WORST!!!! We purchased a livingsocial deal with the company and attempted 6 times to schedual with them, they canceled us due to "plane broke down" and "weather conditions" each and every time. They then closed early in fall due to "weatgher conditions" again. When we asked what we were to do with our livingsocail; deal they said tehy would honor it for the enitre following year, however when we called to make another appointment for this year they told us they had decided only to honor it until May 30 just a week and a half away. We already had a vacation planned and were unable to schedual with such short notice. I procedded to tell them that it's a professional curtosy to let their patrons know of a new experation date so we could accomidate for it. They then got mad and told me that they would no longer be accepting it at all. This place is the worst!!! If you choose to go with them I wish you all the luck, but If they can't handle the buisness end of treating their customers right I sure wouldn't trust them with my life. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I purchased two groupons and booked a jump with them for my bfs birthday, they ended up cancelling via text message a week before. Did not even bother to call and offer to reschedule, simply texted that they did not have a pilot for that day. I called and asked to reschedule, hoping that since they cancelled I would be able to schedule something not too far away from the original date, but was I wrong. The woman on the phone was rude, did not apoplogize and said that the next available date was over a month from now, in the fall when it would already be too cold to do so. read more

Terrible experience with this company. We booked two jumps for 5 people with Capital City Skydiving this summer. Both jumps were cancelled last minute, one the morning of the jump and the rescheduled jump was cancelled the night before two weeks later. Both times they cited "mechanical problems". Interestingly, we were using a Groupon and found out they jumped both days? When we expressed our frustration after rescheduling work and getting an 80 year old in town for his "bucket list" jump - they told us to "just get our money back from Groupon" which is not that simple (another Yelp review on that coming). In short, terrible customer service, excuses and will never book with them again. We rebooked with Skydive Holland and had a great experience (Yelp review posted). read more

They are unprofessional and unorganized. They charge extra to make an appointment, but then don't hold to it. My roommate and I arrived about 45 minutes early just to sit around for 3 hours while people from an earlier reservation finished up. By the time they sat around and made the earlier group's videos, the clouds we had warned them about had rolled in. If we had started at our scheduled time, it would have been fine. We let it go and rescheduled for the next week when they did the same thing and double booked our time! This wasn't all, the tandem instructor was creepy. He was in his late 40s and kept talking about his 22 yer old girlfriend in a really strange way. Luckily, Groupon issued us a full refund. read more

Mel with the booking staff was more than helpful as she stayed on the line to ensure everything went through smoothly. If you're booking on the website with your phone it's a bit glitchy. Better to book on your computer to avoid any issues. read more

We were using a Groupon Discount for our flight. We made a reservation, paid our booking fee and was given a written confirmation. All set right? Nope, two days before our flight they call and said they had a full pay customer and we were getting bumped. They wanted to book us for a later date, and what would make you think they would not just bump us again. So we complained to Groupon who agreed that this was unacceptable customer service on the part of Capital City and refunded us our money. Now we are trying to get our booking fee back as they cancelled us. Probably will have to fill a claim with my credit card company given that this company is so unprofessional. So beware in dealing with these guys. We will book next year with a more reputable company. read more

Unacceptable. I began my attempts to book with the company in the spring, not able to use a groupon and schedule online, weekend bookings through June. That was understandable. I called- on hold for ten minutes (May), I was disconnected. Called again a few days later, left a message, they didn't return my call for a week. After many attempts, I finally spoke with a wonderful rep. (Mel) who explained to me Groupons were only special times (the ones no one wants), but since I had trouble she would offer a slightly discounted rate. Good, let's go- we booked two jumps. The day before we were cancelled- the overbooked. (Thinking since I wasn't a full pay I was first to be cut?) I call, customer service person says she'll call back, and after an hour and a half did not. BUT when I called, the new rep was nice- had to eat the booking fee for my second jumper who could not reschedule, BUT I rescheduled for the following week- taking a day off work to do so. THEN... I don't get a word- so, the day before I email asking for details because I'm an hour and a half drive away and didn't want to make a wasted trip. Nothing. The day I was scheduled to jump (today) I sent a text to the number they texted to cancel. Nothing. So, I call, get placed on hold... then the rep who wasn't as friendly stated they called Monday- but I never got a call or email. So, I wonder... are you planning on me jumping because it's not around the block. She says yes. OK... so, I drop my 14 and 16 year children off since they can't jump, and can't stay on the ground unsupervised (slightly sad bout that, but rules are rules) I'm in my car on my way and I get cancelled again! Weather related they say, but forecast said it was fine- and did remain so all day. I'm not one to ask someone to be dangerous, but since I took a day off for nothing, I was not able to reschedule. I asked for my deposit back. The gentleman said he would. I said $50 or $59 because this has been a really bad experience and I'm not cancelling, you are- it would be a good will gesture to get me back next year instead of a competitor. He said it was nonrefundable and that it said so. I agree. I already ate one booking fee and wasn't happy about it- he said his hands were tied, couldn't offer a voucher or anything. Now, I'm sure weather and plane problems happen often. But there are competitors out there with great service, and I tried all season- this was a sour end. I simply asked for a small fee I had paid or a booking voucher at least so I would go back. They obviously do not want my business. When I had to cancel my friends jump, my card was refunded immediately, as was the case when I charged- not the case today. Not a dime. I called an hour later, they were busy. An hour after that, the same. Thought at least they would get to it by business end, but it looks like I have to call my bank and have some help- they're good at taking money, not at all great on customer service. My friend who couldn't jump with me today was able to find another company get her in on her available time, did NOT require a deposit, did NOT change a booking fee, and was spot on- great experience. So sad I can't comment on the folks that want to help us newbies catch some air, as I'm sure they're wonderful. The business end must be better managed, makes Michigan look bad- quite a few folks vacation here and it makes the area look bad when things are done poorly. read more

ABSOLUTLY TERRIBLE !!! Our party of 3 drove from NY for what was suppose to be a once in a lifetime experience. We drove 6 hrs, rented a hotel, and arrived for our 9 am jump only to be told it was canceled!!! No pre warning, no phone call, nothing! When we attemted to reschedule we were told they were booked for the rest of the season and we wld need to wait until next year!! They refused to refund our money. Customer service was extremely rude and unprofessional and hung up on me! Our part of 3 was out HUNDREDS of dollars. Thank goodness Travel Zoo has a protection plan in place and refunded us our money. I would not recommend this skydiving service to anyone. I paid extra for a reservation that was not upheld twice, and they refused to refund it. The first time I arrived to my purchased reservation time, I waited for three hours. Not once did they warn me how long I was going to have to wait nor apologize for running late. Then, after waiting for three hours, the weather turned bad, forcing me to reschedule. I arrived to my second reservation time to find out that there were 5 jumpers already ahead of me and that I'd have to wait another couple of hours. Why they decided to book so many people ahead of me, knowing that it'd take a long time, is beyond me. There still was never an apology nor a call to me warning me that they were running behind even though they had my phone number. My friend and I cancelled our trip (which was fortunately refunded) so we could skydive with an organization that does a better job taking care of their customers. read more

I was taken skydiving by my wonderful daughter. It was something I have wanted to do for my entire life. This experience was wonderful, but I would have loved to know that I could have avoided the free-fall part and parachuted for nearly the whole distance. The free-fall experience was emphatically NOT what I was there for- I thought it was just a part I had to endure to get to the parachuting part. Also, after telling me that we could have pulled the cord after clearing the plane's airspace (and after me telling the instructor that I could hang in the air like we were doing forever), my instructor took control of the 'chute and executed repeated sharp turns, spiraling us down as quickly as possible. Maybe he thought that since I am 57, I wouldn't remember them telling us that the more turns, the less time aloft. We landed a good five to seven minutes before my daughter, and I feel totally cheated by that. I realize hanging in mid-air with an old woman strapped to his chest was not my instructor's idea of fun, but my daughter paid just as much for me as she did for herself, and it was my birthday present. Why was my time cut so short, on such a perfect day, and when we were the last clients of the day? The experience was fabulous, but it really upsets me that it was cut short for no discernible reason. I will always remember the fabulous feeling of flight - it was just what I had dreamed of - but, oh, what I would give to have those other precious minutes that I was deprived of! And I HATE that I think of that instead of the experience when I remember it. I hope I can change that somehow. read more

I went here for a tandem dive a couple of years ago. I had a terrible instructor. He didn't tell me what was going on & stayed away while we were waiting for our turn. When he was with me & even in the plane while we were going to the jump point, he kept asking me if I was afraid & when I said no, he would say, "well you should be." During the jump he kept dumping air from the chute so we would spin around. It made us land a lot faster than the other duo that jumped out of our plane ahead of us. My jump was 1/2 as long as the other person who went up. I had paid extra for a video of the jump. The other jumper did too & he got his video quickly after we landed. I had to wait thru several more groups jumping before my video was ready. When I watched it at home, I discovered that the reason it took so long to get it was because the instructor was deleting all the times he asked about being afraid & the time in the plane that I asked him about some specifics of how to do the jump because I could hear a little of the other instructor talking about the fact that they had some choices in handling the jump - the ride down. I was seriously disappointed that I paid that much money for a tandem jump (my first time) & didn't feel that I got my money's worth at all. That instructor should never have been used by this company. All this guy wanted to do was get down as fast as he could on the jump. He wasn't interested in providing a good experience or even answering questions. If I could give it no stars, I would - especially since it's expensive & it's not like I can just say, oh, I'll do it again & maybe it'll be a better experience. There was no one at the field that I could complain to. read more
