I had a horrible experience here. The shrimp was not cleaned. It was not de-veined. The butter sauce was rancid. Not sure if that is a Mexican thing. The service was horrible like most Mexican restaurants in the area. Long wait times to order. You have to beg for the check and then long wait times for them to come take the payment. No instructions were given that you have to pay at the register so they let you just sit there. Horrible service. Do not recommend. The interior is pretty dingy and very dirty. Bring disinfectant wipes. Even the wipes they provided were moldy smelling. read more

Absolutely love this place! Food is awesome, we highly recommend the steak tacos. This is hands down some of the best service we've received in a long time. Rudy was kind, attentive and with us dining close to Valentine's Day, he gave each of the ladies at the table some flowers to take home. We will be coming back here every time we are in Kenosha. read more

Isla Del Mar #4 is SO good! Very authentic, with a strong influence from the coast. The guacamole reminded us of a ceviche, it was absolutely delicious! My fiancée thought it was the best guac she's ever had. She also ordered the chicken fajitas. They were delicious! I ordered the tampiqueña de pollo, which was also fantastic! The portions are also very generous. We ordered takeout, which was ready very quickly. Service was very courteous. Next time we go we will definitely branch out and try the seafood offerings. We went for mother's day celebration! There is street parking we didn't have a problem finding one. The service was fast and the server was excellent! The food is delicious, usually order the camarones zarandeados which are a really healthy and flavorful option. The molcajete is huge, great variety of seafood. I usually order the shrimp empanadas and fish chicharrón as an appetizer and they are so fresh and they come with their own hot salsa both delicious but super spicy. My only complain would be the servers. They are not friendly, only seemed to be a pleasure to be around if you know them. Always have a stink face on them and everyone single one of them wears their mask underneath their nose, why even bother? Other than that it is a great place to try. read more

This was my first time there. There was no one in the restaurant a man came to thr front after 10 minutes, did not say anything to me. After 25 to 30 minutes a lady came from the bathroom. I ask if she worked here because she didn't speak to me. I ordered grilled shrimp and chicken tenders for my baby. I was very disappointed. I was eyeballing this place for a few months with the rave that they had good seafood, from mixed reviews. My shrimp.was burnt and dry. I couldn't even eat it. My baby didn't even eat the tenders he spit it out. I see why it was greasy and not fresh for the long wait for my food. I would not be giving them a second chance. I stumbled on this place after planning a road trip adventure heading south of Milwaukee. Mexican, Latin American Seafood? Yum. First of all, the menu was entirely in Spanish. It was what the waitresses and patrons spoke, and it was on the TV. Secondly, while the place was unassuming, it was very clean and clearly run by a family. A grandmother was watching a toddler - mostly staying back in the kitchen, but once in a while walking the child in the restaurant. Now the food. Who has a 6-page menu of seafood where two pages are entirely shrimp entrees? Isla Del Mar. Wow. I chose shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. For $12.50 I got 8. Wow. The bacon was crispy, the shrimp tender and juicy. What a combo. It was accompanied by rice and salad to round out a generous plate. The real treat at this place, however, was the ceviche they brought out before my meal. It was so good! Very fresh tasting. Bits of whitefish and shrimp mixed with lime, peppers, cilantro and tomato. Best ceviche in Kenosha/Racine and you get a bit for free with your salsa and tostadas. My husband had the carne asada and said it was addictive. It came with large sides of rice, beans and salad. I had the medium cocktail de cameron (shrimp) and it was huge. Service was great - ask the waitress for recommendations - she won't steer you wrong. Authentic Mexican restaurant, looked interesting so I gave it a try. Windows were all boarded up because, well, it's Kenosha. The interior decor was reminiscent of a hole in the wall. It was seat yourself so I found an open table and the waitress quickly came over and greeted me. I was in a hurry and just wanted a quick bite. The young waitress was super friendly and I ordered a chicken quesadilla. Instead of chips and salsa they served tostadas and a fish dip and some green sauce. The fish dip wasn't too bad but it was somewhat odd. The green dip was not my cup of tea. In 8 minutes or so the quesadilla came out. It was served with rice and beans. I asked for a side of Sour Cream that she gave me free of charge which was nice. The quesadilla was fairly greasy which surprised me. The rice and beans were actually decent. Overall I would rate the entree a 2/5. It was only 7.99 though so not too pricey. I don't think I would ever go back myself. read more

Stopped by for lunch with my wife. The shrimp salsa was good enough to make a meal of it by itself. The shrimp enchiladas that I ordered were phenomenal, my wife ordered the griddles shrimp and they were decent, although someone got a little free with the salt shaker when cooking them. The main reason that this review did not receive a full five star rating was due to the fact that it took way too long for our food to come out. A couple came in after we did by about ten minutes, ordered, and were served their meal and had almost finished by the time our food was brought out. There was only one waitress in the place, which was fine since it is not a big joint. I did have to flag her down for more to drink since she seemed to be preoccupied with everything but waiting tables. Word to the wise- the green salsa is HOT!!! I love hot salsa, and this stuff was killer hot. I could only eat about a tablespoon with my chips. Overall a decent place if you like authentic Mexican seafood, the place is kind of hole in the wall, but it adds to the authenticity. read more

My aunt insisted I try this place with her for lunch, and I am so grateful she did. This bright shining gem in the middle of the sometimes depressing-looking Uptown area is WONDERFUL. The seafood was so fresh and prepared deliciously. Just the right amount of heat. The things we had that are must-tries: Langostinos la Plancha raw shrimp sliced thin in lime juice with vegetables (I forgot what the menu name is called, but they'll show you) And then a similar concoction of octopus, shrimp, oysters, and avocado in lime juice with spices. I can't even emphasize enough how happy my mouth was. The place is very clean, the service was impeccable, the margarita was fantastic, the tostadas crispy and the fish ceviche fresh. And there were not enough people in there. This place should be PACKED. I will be eating there again and again. (p.s. My favorite Mexican joint in town for tacos and the like is Los Cantaritos -- but for seafood specialty items you will never beat Isla Del Mar) read more

Best sea food place in town. I prefer my seafood spicy with a nice cold beer, and this is exactly where I go when I crave that. The environment isn't the greatest, it's small and sometimes the music is way too loud but the food is so good I overlook everything I don't personally like. I love the ceviche, salsa verde, caldo de pulpo, tacos, camarones al ajillo. Soooo good!!! read more

So thrilled that we stumbled upon this little gem. You get complementary ceviche to start. It's served with spicy green salsa and crunchy corn tortillas; which we promptly devoured. Watch out for the green salsa, it's hot but oh so good. It went well with the homemade sangria. Come hungry because the portions are huge! We ordered a side of Langostinos a la Plancha, the Camarones la Zarandeados and the shrimp taco plate. The la Plancha was hands down one of the best seafood dishes we've ever eaten. Seriously. The butter sauce that the Langostinos were slathered in was delectable. The Zarandeados shrimp were grilled and tasty. And last, but certainly not least, were the shrimp tacos. The shrimp in the tacos were fried, crunchy and golden. They came with this pink sauce that added just the right amount of sweetness. Excellent food. The server was great and helpful. Salsa and ceviche with saltine croakers and corn chips were brought to the table right after we sat down. My husband had shrimp enchiladas were wonderful. The shrimp in garlic was requested spicy and was excellent. The restaurant is in the Mexican section of Kenosha. Parking was easy. The menu is in Spanish and English. This was a great find and very reasonably priced. We will return again. read more

Last night I ordered takeout from this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp soup with out the shell. OMG it was amazing. The broth was flavorful and was cooked to perfection. The green salsa that they put in the bag was nice and spicy. With this cold weather this soup was so good . I am looking forward to eat here again... sooo good read more

Surprised that no one has written a review about this place before. Several Mexican restaurants in the area, but none that sell seafood like this! First off, you get free ceviche as soon as you are seated. This beats plain old salsa and chips any day! I had the "langostinos a la plancha" and my wife had the "camarones koras" and both were great. With cold Mexican beer (Dos Equis - never had it before but it was darn refreshing) to wash it all down, it was a great dinner. If I'm ever in the area again, will definitely stop by. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I came in with my mother in law and my brother in law, we told the waitress that two more people where coming. It was 830pm the waitress was rushing us to order we told her that to wait because our two people where on there way. My husband and father in law came right away she rushed us to order. She didn't even gave them time to look at the menu. While we where waiting she was giving a mean look at my husband. She obviously didn't want us there, she just wanted to leave. Never again going there she was such a bitch. Don't know her name but she had long black hair.
