My favorite part, and honestly the main reason I keep coming back, is La Fontana Verde. If you love herbs, teas, tinctures, and natural wellness, do yourself a favor and stop in. The owners are incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. My family and I always end up asking a million questions, and they never make us feel rushed. They genuinely care and are always willing to share their knowledge. It's become our go-to herb shop. The produce selection at the market is huge, and it's actually kind of fun comparing prices between vendors. My only wish is that there were more certified organic fruits and vegetables available. If organic produce is your top priority, that may be a downside. But if you're looking for seasonal fruits, including seeded watermelons (yes, fruit is supposed to have seeds!), you'll find plenty of options. Another bonus is that parts of the market are covered, so even if Florida decides to randomly rain on your plans, you can still enjoy walking around. Overall, Redland Market Village is a South Florida staple. Come for the produce, stay for the Seeded fruit, and definitely don't leave without stopping by La Fontana Verde.

What happened that was amazing is that when I showed an interest, the staff (Jose) jumped in and told me what to try and also got a variety of items that would ripen over the next few days. I probably learned more about fruit shopping than I have anywhere else. I also got to procure a Mamey which is native to Cuba and rare in the United States. It actually qualifies as a berry even though it is more like an avocado in size and density but tastes like a jackfruit had a baby with an almond tree and is the consistency of a flan when very ripe. I got the best dragonfruit of my life here and the oranges were great as well as the tomatoes. You know how awful grocery store tomatoes are? These are the home grown taste tomatoes. It was suggested that we get a strawberry onion which is an onion grown in the strawberry fields. It was incredibly sweet when grilled. The juice (I recognize as aqua fresca) in the case was delicious and we drank countless of these while in the area. Vizcaya once had its own farm. This very area housed crops and farm animals. Today it is home to a weekly farmers market sponsored by the Urban Oasis Project and held every Sunday from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. This may be the most charming farmer's market I have ever visited. The historic buildings are the perfect backdrop to vendors selling fresh produce, coffee, raw honey, plant protein, hats, healthy desserts and snacks, bike powered fresh juice, plants, spices, candles, jewelry, canned fruits and vegetables, healthy dog food, fruit boba tea, pastries, and prepared food. If you purchased a meal there were picnic tables set up in the courtyard. Lovelo was on hand to book self guided e-bike tours. I enjoyed walking through this lovely market and ended up purchasing several ingredients to inspire my home cooking. In addition to the Sunday market they also offer workshops at the same time for a nominal fee. On the day I visited you could do yoga and paint. They also offer a night market.
