I just picked up the stuff I purchased online in the Specialized store twice: the first time the guy was awesome, bring me everything and showed me how to use, let me try. The second time I had to wait and I was by bike and forgot my lock, when the man came he was upset that my bike was inside the store and bring the stuff saying to put the bike outside, I wanted to ask about a road bike there but he wasn't in a good mood. So in any store we will never know who will attend us, maybe he had a bad day that day, but usually bikes are welcome inside the bike shops no? read more

I had the guys at Island Bike tune/tighten up my son's mongoose bike and they did a good job. The cost was $40 and although I had to leave the bike with them for several days I'm happy with their service and price. I've been here a few times and each time the staff are fast and friendly. read more

The worst bike shop in the history! I wouldn't even give it one star if I could!! I went there to fix my bike. I Asked for the cost.. Bob quoted me a price that was a little bit more then some other shops I checked but this one was closer to my house so I decided to give it a shot. came back on Friday to pick up my bike. It wasn't fixed appropriately so I needed to wait for Andrew to adjust a few things. My husband paid him and After leaving the store we noticed that he changed us 40% MORE then he quoted me. My husband called him about it l, and he told him to call back on Monday when bob will be there. My husband went back to the shop on Monday and Bob was very rude to him. He denied that he even gave me a quote. He start screaming at my husband and told him that he didn't even change us to clean up after my daughter's mess and the time he took to explain me about the bike. Are you serious?? First of all, My daughter(three years old) waited patiently with my husband without touching anything until he adjusted my bike for the second time. And then gave me one minute explanation about the gears. He said, "this is what I charge " and kicked my husband out of the store. I never met such a nasty and rude person like him in my life! I would give it 3 1/2 but not 4 stars. The owner who is usually there was kind of an asshole, he always seemed to have something better to do, or came off as you not knowing what you're talking about. Because of the location i decided to give this place a shot regardless, and I like the Specialized Allez bikes they rented. The road bike over all was in great shape, you could tell it was well used, but it was tuned up nicely. The only problem I ran into (which was a major problem) was a back spoke broke and my wheel bent accordingly. I ended up struggling for 24 miles to finish my ride into Hana, but I dont blame the shop for this problem, its just something that can happen and there is no way to prevent. The price of the bike was $50 for the first day and $25 for additional, or $150 for a week rental. Probably the best deal on the island. Just be prepared to know exactly what you want, your size, pedals etc, and let the dude know or he'll blow you off like you don't belong in his store. They tuned my bike for me. From top to bottom, cranks, bottom bracket, cables, Front and rear derailleurs, brakes. Wrapped the new bar that Andrew suggested I Purchase. A shorter drop handle bar with the flat top. I did not hesitate to do so. That in itself for me (the wait and think about guy). was a first, I just trusted him immediately. Well I took it out for a quick shakedown today just 18 miles. All I can say is wow, It shifts so flawlessly and as quiet as a mouse. I had to look a few times to see if it did shift, Dead on. the handlebars are perfect, I have a riding partner that used to yell out to me coming out from the winery. "bend your arms bend your arms", what is he talking about? it took concentration. I had to lean in to bend my arm un-comfort-table. With the shorter bars my arms are now bent while on the top bar the hoods and the drops. I do not have to think about it.the flat top made a wider more comfortable grip way way cool. I have also never been able to ride comfortably in the drops. (mind you it was only a short trip and I spent only a mile in the drops). I was not painfully stretched and was not wondering is the mile almost over? Bob & Andrew thank you! read more

Top Notch Experience, Employees and Service. I went to the shop to buy a e-bike. Bob the owner spent a fair amount of time with me and provided a top of the line demo bike for me to try out. In the end due to the shortage of bikes from the whole Covid mess I ended up purchasing a used bike because Specialized was struggling to deliver any mid range bikes for the guys to sell. After doing so I found the used bike had a few issues and I wanted to do some upgrades so I brought it to Island Bike. Both of the guys who work there are extremely knowledgeable and meticulous. They did an excellent job on my bike. It rides like it was brand new. They recommended a new seat and its made a massive difference in my riding. Bob the owner found there was a small part in the rear cassette that needed to be replaced. For a $11 part he disassembled one of his demo bikes so I would not have to wait for the part to be shipped to HI. he installed it in my bike and then he waited on a part to get his demo back on the road. I really felt they went above and beyond on a bike they did not even sell me. I felt they were very fair on the amount of work they had done and what they charged me. Not to say other shops are rude, but a lot of shop people are all about their little clique of regulars and coworkers and just stand behind the counter and do the bare minimum. These guys are the real deal, After talking with several shops about service and bike fit they seem to be the only ones qualified for either! Bob and Andrew are awesome! I almost quit riding bikes because of physical limitations I had from past injuries. They were able to bring in the perfect bike for me, a Specialized Levo electric mountain bike. I LOVE my bike! That was over two years ago. I was looking for a good road bike on Maui, stopped into Island Bikers, and was treated affably and knowledgeably by Andy. He took time to help me decide my priorities of usage and price range. Showed me several super nice bikes, I was looking to spend around $1000, so he set me up with a bike out of their rental stable, looked like new, guestimated 200 miles on it , originally over $2000. My Mom took my bike in for a "tune up" and asked them to let her know if any work is needed on the bike. She made it clear that she wanted the bike working well and if anything looked like it was worn or needed replacing to let her know so she can decide to have fixed or not. She was told that everything was fine and working well. She was told all the bike needed was new tubes, so those were provided and she bought new pedals which were put on. The bike was boxed and sent to me in Eugene, Oregon. I took the bike to a shop to have "put together" for me, and they did. They also noticed a few things that needed to be repaired or fixed for the bike to run properly and were professional enough to bring it to my attention. These were things that should have been identified when Island Biker did their "tune up" and look over on the bike. (1) I was shown that the gears were slipping out at a specific ring, and that the shifter couldn't shift to the outer two gears; basically only 5 of the 8 gears were working properly. (2) The back wheel bearings were loose to the point where the wheel was a bit wobbly and needed an easy adjustment to keep the bearings from wearing out and becoming a bigger problem. (3) The chain was worn (stretched) to the point where any reasonable bike owner wound want the chain replaced to prevent potential damage to the rings. (4) The wire covers (housing) was cracked and needed to be replaced to prevent moisture from getting in again preventing damage to this component. These were areas that needed repair within the expectation that my mom had asked Island Biker to identify and have fixed; something she was more than willing to pay for so that my bike was in the best working condition considering it was an old bike. So I called Island Biker today and spoke with the person (can't remember his name) who worked on my bike to ask how and why these areas identified were missed by him. He became defensive immediately claiming that he did everything my mom asked him to do. So I asked him if it was part of the "tune up" to identify areas that were not working at all or needed repair, and he said yes, so I asked him how is it that he did not see that these areas identified were not noticed by him...because my mom specifically asked to be sure everything is working well, and she was reassured that it was. This person was rude and dismissive of my concerns that it appeared that the $75.00 tune up my mom paid for didn't really amount to much at all. He accused the current bike shop of being too picky about the chain and blamed the broken elements of my gears on likely damage from being shipped. REALLY? This is the first time I have ever written one of these reviews, I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when I have received bad service or less than adequate service for what I paid for, BUT this company clearly has no standards of excellence or attention to obvious detail any bike owner would want looked at when a paying customer brings in a bike with an unequivocal request to fix what needs fixing, at least to let the customer know what needs fixing or may need fixing sooner than later....complete INCOMPETENCE or LAZINESS!!!! Consider yourself warned before doing business with these clowns. read more
