I visited Island Dog a couple of times during my visit to SSI while on vacation. We fitted my labradoodle with a new harness, and found some fabulous dried sweet potato treats. The next day, I returned for a second harness in a different color. The owner was so friendly and helpful, and my dog got a few treats during our visit. I like that she carries high-end treats that are made in the USA. I highly recommend this store if you are looking for something special for your dog. read more

Great pet shop on the island. Very friendly staff. I picked up some toys and snacks for the dogs and they loved them.

Located in the village the Island Dog is a cute little pet store catering to doggies. They have everything a dog lover would ever need from collars to leaches to clothing to treats, etc. Most importantly they have Georgia Bulldogs merchandise for your pet; so they can cheer on the best team with you. We purchased a Georgia Bulldogs collar for our Boston here and are very satisfied with it. The staff working here are super friendly and helpful. Every time we visit the Island we stop into the Island Dog for our pet's pampered needs. read more

I brought my over stimulated golden retriever into Island Dog to find a harness that fit her. Immediately she became really anxious and was not cooperating. The owners were completely understanding and so helpful. They were completely patient with my girl and didn't make me feel like she was being silly. After finally finding a harness that felt like it fit, she let us try it out before purchasing. 10000% will return if I ever find myself in St. Simons again! read more

We went into the store and had my six year old son and his friend with us. Both kids were behaving and looking at the cute dog clothes discussing them. One employee said to another, "I am keeping an eye on the kids." A third employee later scolded them for touching the dog leashes. The kids were only looking at them, not pulling on them like I was told. I know this because my husband was watching the children. As a family, we did not feel welcome in this establishment like we do at most small businesses located in Saint Simons. I could understand if the kids were misbehaving, but they were just looking and talking to one another. We ultimately put our merchandise back, and left the store. read more

First of all, Saint Simons is extremely dog friendly. This store carries all sorts of leashes, collars, toys, poo bags, outfits, treats and things for pet owners. There are more toys than I would have thought possible for that size of store. Dogs are welcome in the store and the ones I saw seemed to love it in there. I had a fabulous experience at Island Dog this past weekend. I'm a frequent SSI visitor but this was my first stop in to Island Dog since I recently got a dog. The shop is dog friendly and the owner is very sweet and personable. She welcomed our little pup, gave him some yummy treats and even sent us home with some of the treats as well. I was blown away at the selection and amount of product that Island Dog had! They had just about every toy I've ever bought or thought about buying our dog. They also had a huge (and super fun) selection of collars and leashes. Everything from collegiate, pattern and solid colors. We purchased a UGA jersey, life jacket and a dog puzzle. Finding a shop with such a large selection of collars, clothing, life jackets, etc. is great because we were able to try items on in store verses ordering online and taking the chance that items won't fit. read more

We recently moved to Brunswick and stopped in to Island Dog looking for anti-itch spray for our dog. We were pleasantly surprised when, instead of pushing product and trying to make a sale, we were given very helpful tips on at home and chemical free remedies to try before putting chemicals on our pup. My experience here was absolutely terrible. I walked in asking for a shock collar because my dog was barking at people in the park, not to shock him every time, but to give a shock to teach him and only vibrate other times to warn him. My father-in-law has used this tactic and now his dog doesn't even wear the collar and obeys. When I asked the worker for a shock collar she tells me they don't sell them and asks why I want one, after I tell her she immediately responded "that's wrong" and lecture me about how she's a dog trainer and that I should try other methods. Lady, I'm a customer, not looking for a dog trainer nor a lecture on how I'm being a bad dog dad. My wife and I treat our dog VERY well, often praising him and giving him treats for tasks he has no problems with. We take him to a river in our neighborhood almost every day and he sleeps in our bed. I refuse to be judged for my method of training just because it is not what you would do. I hope others see this and know that this business IS judging you for anything you do and they're taking it on themselves to reprimand you for anything wrong you do. I will not be shopping here, that's for sure! read more

This is a really neat little pet shop perfectly located on the island. If you are in the are or waiting for your seat at an eatery come check this place out! The owner was awesome and upfront. This sweet little shop is a gem. In three days, we have been here 4 times. The first just get a couple of things since our pupper's toys were forgotten at home - 5 hours away. Then a couple of pop-ins for some belly rubs and treats from the sweet owners. But by far, the most important was for advice in an upset puppy tummy. Knowledgeable, kind, funny, and wonderful owners. Great selection of toys and chew things. All the collars, harnesses, and leashes that a dog could want. AND...! Reasonable prices! Such a lovely place! read more
