We had called/ requested multiple companies for pricing and availability, and from the first phone call we knew this company was different than all the rest, and that Michael really loves what he does. We had decided to do a "DIY" wedding, and honestly - probably could not have pulled it off as successful as we did without his help, talent, and personal investment in our event. He was easy to contact over both email and phone, and when we got busy and overwhelmed, he stayed on top of us to make sure that he had all the information he needed. The wedding outline he uses and phone/email conversations helped guide and structure our entire night and he worked to really get a feel for the atmosphere we were trying to achieve ... He managed to turn a ballroom in a historical house into a fun, yet classy, dance party that incorporated BOTH my wife's love for early 2000's dance music and brought out my 90's punk/ alternative! While still getting younger family members and parents and grandparents out on the dance floor. We used the North fork Rustic Decor DJ booth (which I'm pretty sure he built himself!) after DJ Michael saw photos of the space and recommended it, and it fit perfectly! And when we stumbled during the cake cutting (we did not have a Maitre D - and neither of us knew what to do next, or who cuts first) ... I look up and there is DJ Michael. He had stepped down from the stage and DJ booth, came to our table, and discreetly guided us through it, to flawlessly look like we knew what we were doing! There was at least a few more moments just like this, from nailing our entrance, to making sure we were served first from the Food Truck, and speeches went smooth... If you want your wedding or event to go seamlessly and have perfect music and DJ, this is definitely the one!

Their website and appointment system was clear and easy to navigate, and I noticed I had to be careful during booking cause they are going by east coast time and we were on the west coast. I was a little worried about the lack of positive yelp reviews, the fact that they need payment in full, and given the mariachi band surprise was going to be through a zoom link, it would be pretty easy to take the payment and not show up. I reached out to express my concerns and Mariela was very communicative and reassuring. I also asked for a text to confirm an hour before their scheduled time that everything would be good to go. She said, "Hi Connie,  We received the payment. We will text before connecting, no problem.  As per the reviews, we been in the industry for 10yrs having up to 20 events in a weekend during the busy season, unfortunately people are more inclined to leave many bad reviews for a mistake or a missed service caused for extreme bad situations where is out of our control or where we are involved in accidents. We always make it up to our clients or come up with a solution, but it's not mention after the fact. Versus leaving one good review for every 50 events of great service. It's a reality many businesses have now days." I appreciated her detailed response and it made me feel more at ease as a customer. Come the day of, true to their word I received a text 1 hr before confirming they were good to go. And they showed up on time. What also made me happy was they were very nice and accommodating as well. They typically give you a zoom link to click on during the appt time, but in our case I requested they enter our zoom link bc there were 20+ of us all connecting from home. They said 'no prob'. I also asked if they could mix in our birthday boy's name in a song or message and they said also said 'sure' and gave a short intro saying 'this song is for ____ from your friends and we'd all like to wish you a HBD'. It sounds small but its a nice personalized touch that makes things a little more special, esp during covid. I took off a star just cause I felt it was a bit pricey for 2 songs time and esp given everything was done virtually. But I still had a good experience. Thanks for the mariachi service! Yet what's most important, the band knew how to entertain; they kept a sharp pace that ebbed and flowed precisely when it needed, to give folks a chance to catch their breath before going back into the jam! We gave them a list of songs (from the song list they have on their website) and we also asked them for recommendations on the flow from processional to recessional and they really helped us put it all together. They were also able to learn a couple of songs which were not on their list but which we wanted played on our wedding. They were able to learn them. Our guests were so impressed by them and I often listen to the recording from our wedding to bring me back to the day and to remember how professional Art-Strings was.
