There are plenty of choices for dining here. Dining room, lounge or outside. We chose outside even though there was karaoke going on. The outside area is very nice with a variety of table sizes and Adirondack chairs. Our server quickly took our drink order and brought drinks. The menu has lots of appetizers and then a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees. I settled on the chicken piccata which came with a choice of a vegetable and starch and either soup or salad. The daily soup was a corn chowder so that was my choice. We waited and waited and waited for my husband's crab bisque soup to arrive. 35 minutes later it showed up. Then we waited another 20 minutes for my soup and his salad. My soup was barely warm, and yes it was corn chowder but the corn flavor was overwhelming. I make it at home and it was nothing like this. Another 25 minutes later and our entrees showed up. At that point I wasn't even interested in food and just wanted to leave. The chicken had a great lemon flavor but the outside of the chicken was so crispy that it was hard to cut and then eat with a plastic fork. The green beans were good and the teeny bit of rice they gave me was fine. Overall it was a bad experience. We were there over 2 hours, sitting on hard metal chairs. I forgot that we never got the basket of bread or refills on water.

Our seventh time back in Cedar Key, this time for our 33rd anniversary. We've stayed at the Island Hotel five of these times it's always a pleasure. The island and this hotel seem to encourage comradery...doesn't matter where you are from, how old you are, etc. People smile and say hi, and even hug each other in restaurants and the hotel's tiny bar. Great place to remove yourself from the crazy rest of the world. Built in 1869, with a very interesting history, the hotel's rooms are quaintly decorated with beautiful quilts and antique-y beds, clean and comfortable, although some could use a couple of small chairs in which to relax or at least put on your shoes. The owners are ever-present and friendly, and dear Angie in the bar is an amazing woman! The food is very good, and the crab bisque absolutely incredible....my husband doesn't even like crab, but he orders this every time...try it!

We celebrated our 48th Anniversary here! This was our first time dining and we could not have been more pleased with the location, ambiance, service, and last but not least the Food! A delicious meal to top off our special day...five star in every way!

We had Christmas day dinner this past year, and the food and service was wonderful. Everyone was warm and welcoming. We came back a few days later and hung out at the bar with my husband's best friend since kindergarten. Had a great time.

What an amazing place. Chaulked full of history the Island Hotel is an amazing place to stop for dinner. The staff was super nice and attentive. They offered suggestions and we didnt have to wait to have our needs met. They start off with a house salad and have the standard dressings, however, the house french vinegarette is too die for. My wife had the fish katarini with mahi mahi and i had the Calypso angel hair pasta with chicken. Both meals were exceptional....my wife being a vegetarian could say enough about the way the fish was cooked....this meal was the house special at $27...fresh mahi at thst price is really unheard of. My dish was perfect on all levels....I am usually not a white sauce person as I find that white sauce leaves me feeling heavy and full....not on this dish...it was bursting full of flavor with fresh spinach, mushrooms, onion, garlic and sun-dried tomatoe. The atmosphere is like a fine dining experience at half the cost. PLEASE DONT CHANGE A THING

It was a one bed, one bathroom that had a sitting area, kitchenette, and balcony. We first noticed how clean the room was. In general, that was true but I found random pieces of hair that weren't ours in the bathroom, on the couch, and who knows where else. My toddler daughter had a long strand of someone else's hair wrapped up in her hair so if may have come from the floor or the couch. That was a little bit of a turn off. The sleep accommodations were nice. The bed was comfortable and there was more than enough room for two adults and a toddler. We loved that the porch was screened in as we enjoyed being out there. There was ample parking in a carport just below the unit. The location is great. While the town is small, this place was steps away from two breakfast spots, the local pizza restaurant, and several shops. It's also a very short walk to Dock Street, where the Harbour Master Suites office and their Dilly Dally Gally is, along with other restaurants and bars. While the place could use a little more attention to detail with cleaning, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the check-in and checkout process was quick. I would be interested to return at some point to see what the room options are like at the main site.

This would have been a 5 star review but the mattress on our king bed really needs to be replaced as it has developed a bear hole on one side making it very uncomfortable. I had never been to Cedar Key, and was very excited. Pulling up to the B&B was a little magical. It was painted in pretty pastels, and we parked in front of their beautiful fenced in yard. It had majestic trees, and such an incredible, inviting vibe. Our room, Ms. Ida"s room, was beautifully decorated and inviting. It was large enough for our dog's large crate without making us feel cramped. The bathroom even had a beautiful claw footed tub. It was centrally located so we basically walked everywhere without issue. The Gulf of America was right there, and we really enjoyed watching the pods of dolphins frolick each night. The breakfast was delicious! We had a "Zippy", sausage and homemade biscuits. The Zippy was like a little southwestern quiche. Best of all were the people running this B&B. Heather and Cindi couldn't have made us feel more welcome, important, and frankly, loved! They were so kind and engaging, and totally doted on my dog. (Even made him his own scrambled eggs with cheese!) I had never been to Cedar Key, but I will definitely be back and will stay here again! Check it out!

Dock Street and all... but I really didn't even need to leave. It was very peaceful and relaxing and exactly what I was looking for. This BnB has it all. Charm, wonderful homemade breakfasts, friendly staff, great rooms... mine was on the 2nd floor and had its own private large balcony, accessible from the only other door up the stairs, next to the door to my room. The grounds were beautiful. I spent a good amount of time there. For just coffee, then breakfast, just before sunset in the afternoons... even just overlooking the grounds from the back porch. I walked around and looked at the different kinds of flowers... Alice pretty much does most of the landscaping. I spoke with Alice a good bit while enjoying breakfast in the garden one morning... very sweet and friendly, she truly loves the property and cares about her guests. It was my birthday weekend and my cousin and aunt contacted the BnB and spoke with Amanda. Amanda is who greeted me when I first arrived. She wished me a happy birthday and it took me some time before I figured out how she knew that. LOL When she showed me my room, I only asked about shampoo, she said because my hair was long, she guessed a 2 in 1 type of shampoo wouldn't suffice and I said, if it's something like Pantene, it would! After I returned from my afternoon out and about, there was a bottle of Pantene sitting on the decorate table outside my room. I'm not sure that it was readily available or if she actually went and bought it...but I was certainly appreciative and used it immediately. The next morning, after she read my notes on food issues (no chocolate, no almonds....) she had to ask me at breakfast what I couldn't eat again because my aunt and cousin requested gluten and dairy free, chocolate brownies to surprise me! I can and do eat gluten and dairy...but no chocolate. Amanda had in fact found gluten and dairy free brownies! They would have been wonderful...if I could eat them. Instead, she went out of her way once again and found me a vanilla cake on the fly... dressed it with hibiscus flowers and candles. She was very sweet and we talked for a while as well. Goes to show you how much they enjoy and appreciate what they do and the people they do it for. I enjoyed staying at this BnB, it encompasses old Florida and the local culture and I would definitely stay here again!

There are pluses: Room #12 did not face the street so it was reasonably quiet, the room was refurbished after Hurricane Helene in Sept 2024 and all is fairly new, the king bed is nicely supportive, coffee maker/ refridge/ microwave all work, WiFi also works outside on the deck. More pluses: closest hotel to the fishing pier, right out the door to the Dock Street restaurants, tee shirt shops, ice cream joint and wine bar. Very easy walking distance to all the 2nd Street restaurants, bars and artist shops. My complaints: lack of security and insufficient storage space. The hotel door is secured from the outside by way of an electronic push button lock. A four digit code opens it. The codes are changed (I'm told, but can't verify) with each new rental but there is no inside double lock!! No way on the inside to keep someone with a master code from entering the room while you are inside! No typical hotel mechanical inside system. Too late for my reservation but the next (potential) guest should check before booking. Made me apprehensive both nights. Room #12 is at street and deck level and has good handicap accessibility but this was a feature I didn't need. Room has a very large bathroom, at least 6' wide and 15' long with a wheelchair roll-in shower. Nice! But bathroom had 6' between the tiny wall mounted sink and the shower and only a really small cabinet (top surface only 12" by 24") that left almost no room for toiletries, pills and other misc travel items. The bedroom, while spacious (12' by 15') had the same lack of raised storage. We found the single standard folding luggage rack and put the larger of two suitcases on it. Fou the second suitcase, choices were: the small 36" round table, leave it open on the floor or return it to the car. The small 12" by 15" valet was almost worthless. I'm sad the people that run the hotel never tried to travel with luggage to the hotel. I've given the Salinity Hotel THREE STARS.
