We were traveling with Freckles our loyal Dalmation and we needed a place to have breakfast. Thank goodness the weather has been beautiful we ate outside. We sat outside on a picnic bench and our server brought us water for the Freck and coffee for us. The food was delicious, nothing fancy but a good home cooked meal. We both had omelets with cheese, I had home fries and it came with a nice size pancake. Since I share my breakfast with the pooch, she loved the home fries and pieces of the pancake. I loved the omelet which was western with cheese. This way I can limit my carbs! I swear we gave her breakfast before we left the motel, but she was complaining she was hungry. The waitress brought us refills of coffee and made sure we had everything we needed. Love the warmth, friendliness of Mama Sally's and we would definitely return again.

Traveling from New Orleans, and stopped at this little place. A little outdated, small town place with some "regulars". Very friendly server took our order. I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. I mean, with a restaurant named Mamá Sally's, it's GOT to have great homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, right? I'm happy to report, YES!! Great mashed. The burger/bacon was awesome and my well done fries were done right. Great little place!

Great little place with great food and service. $11.99 for 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger, fries and coleslaw. $10.99 for spaghetti and meatballs. Full with leftovers. Definitely be back.

First time here. We always try local restaurants when we travel. We come up to this area a lot and finally decided to try. Got the feta omelette with spinach , tasted like canned spinach. Potatoes were burnt and uneatable. Service was really great though.

Country fried steak - very good!

We loved the country fried steak. The crispyness of the meat held up to all the gravy. The side of bacon was over cooked. The French toast and chocolate chips pancakes were excellent. BLT was good. Visually was not excited about the fruit topping for the French toast especially the strawberries but they did have good flavor like a Sunday topping. The blueberries on the other hand did not have much flavor and were not fresh. We enjoyed our meal overall!

    Monday Special Chicken and Dumplings

Hey, this place is a warm welcoming little shack that cooks Grandma's best. Breakfast all day! But, on Mondays the lucky day I was there; chicken and dumplings. Many hometown people eat there every day Don't make a decision on its looks just go in and grab a booth and order up yourselves some delicious, hot food. CASH ONLY!!

    Yum

Friendly down to earth home cooking at its best. Recommend if you come to this small town.

I usually get two poached eggs done perfectly at Mama Sally's. Today I had the egg salad. A good choice and generous serving. I'm hooked.

Fried chicken was really tasty with a perfect crunch and juicy chicken. The fried catfish was breaded with cornmeal, perfectly crispy, also well seasoned and very moist and tender inside. The tartar sauce was homemade and very good but they also have a good peppered vinegar. Between us all we had an opportunity to try a lot of sides. Hush puppies which one of our hush puppy lovers said was the best she ever had (I'm not a fan of these overall so I can't really say). The potato salad was very good, creamy, with just a hint of onion and relish. Baked potatoes and sweet potatoes were enjoyed by all. Loved the crispy okra and green beans. Collard greens were also good. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the pies. Caramel apple walnut was a little too nutty for me but it was still good. They key lime was my personal fave -- the crust was a good crumbly graham cracker that was definitely home made. We also had a lemon meringue and the chocolate coconut cream pie, which was essentially a half and half with chocolate cream and the bottom and coconut cream on the top. Both had beautiful, moist meringues with nicely toasted tops. On top of good food, we had a great waitress who was super attentive and very patient and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and looking for some nostalgic, good southern comfort food.

Our server was very nice and she answered all of our questions, of which we had many! We were able to sit outside on a nice spring morning before it got too hot. It wasn't the greatest since it's near the main road but they do have a lot of greenery up so you can't see it but you do hear it. I would love to have another one of those sandwiches again!

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy.
