Beautiful grounds and entrance for a well decorated restaurant that is perfect for a relaxing evening dinner. I took my wife to celebrate a post Father's Day meal since she worked on that day. Ambience is worth 5 stars Food was a rollercoaster ride... started off great with the whipped feta appetizer then I asked for some guidance and waiter recommended the scallops which I do love and my wife the A1 grade Tuna. Both had good flavor but weren't prepared properly. My scallops didn't have a "crust" and her tuna wasn't seared on outside causing it took cook more than requested. We had a blueberry tiramisu for dessert and it was good. Light and airy with good blueberry flavor but missing the coffee flavor most tiramisu highlight. Loved this unique and upscale bar and restaurant located near Bronson, Florida. My friend and I stopped by for a drink and appetizers one day to check them out. We ordered some crab cakes and shrimp hushpuppies with remolaude sauce. It was so hot out, I ordered a Sangria. It was the most beautiful Sangria I have ever tasted. Highly recommend for dinner, too. A Thursday night outing found us at The Black Prong Bar & Grill in Bronson. When you drive up, it's very evident this isn't just a down home family restaurant. It appears to be (and is) a resort out in the wilds, near the Goethe State Park. We asked for recommendations and settled on salmon and sea scallops entrees and the recommended appetizer (spicy crab hush puppies). The salmon on puréed black eyed peas - not going to lie - worried me a little, but it was delicious!! The grilled asparagus was very good - cooked but not too mushy. The gentleman who actually delivered our dinner however, was abrupt and didn't remove bread plates so hubby's plate wasn't placed very well on the table -Partially off the edge. After several recommendations decided to give this place a try. Very nice place to stay , hike, ride horses and swim. This place is a "Resort". After reading previous reviews we decided to make reservations. Our reservation was for 5pm (maybe a reservation wasn't really needed for this time). The doors to the restaurant don't open until 5pm. Very clean looking once we entered then we were shuffled thru a door to the actual restaurant area. Wow! Would never think this place would be so chic on the inside. Definitely a date place. Dim lights, chandeliers as well as seating areas (chic couches) if you're there to drink a bit and chit chat. Menu was good. Few complaints but overall will return. Our waitress was very attentive and took our drinks and appetizer order. I ordered their "Tiramisu" martini - ummm.. expected it to be delicious and it was not. Hubby ordered a beer- can't muck that up. Appetizer was the charcuterie board. Very basic board and a few pieces of the prosciutto looked old-otherwise tasty and ok presentation. We then went all in on the meals. Hubby had the French onion soup which was delicious and the redfish amandine with shrimp and I had the Caribbean mahi mahi . Both entrees cooked to perfection and presentation there as well. We ended our meals with the crème brûlée . Drove 30 minutes out to the restaurant the hostess tells us that she will look to see if she can seat us , then comes back only to tell us that she won't be able to seat us at all. The restaurant was probably about 40 percent full with at least 5 6 tables empty . This was at 7 pm. We walked outside and looked online and there was available reservations every 15 minutes. We have been here several times and service is always questionable (hit or miss) more miss than anything. And the food is average and certainly not worth being treated like this. We will never waste our time giving our business to this establishment. read more

Jade the bartender is the absolute worst and extremely rude and unprofessional bartender I've ever encountered . If I was the owner I would look into how she treats customers. It was so bad I set a timer on my phone to see how long it would take her to talk to me, 5 mins someone sat next to me took her 30 seconds. 20 mins later.. menu open she hasn't even asked me what I wanted for dinner. We really want to like this place as it's a nice restaurant 15 mins from us. We've been 3 times. First time server was Monique and she was amazing. Had the tacos, bacon wrapped shrimp, soup, lobster gnocchi and red fish. Drinks were ok but they don't have high end cherries, good olives, or large square ice cubes which are needed for high end drinks. 2nd time was the comedy show - had shrimp and grits - don't recommend and the burger nicely cooked at medium. The bartender was amazing. Don't recall her name but she work hard for the whole restaurant and never had a miss. 3rd time was 5/9 with Shelby as the bartender- she didn't listen several times and we had to ask again for what we needed. The place wasn't busy and there was no one at the bar but us, but she was not paying attention. She bought the wrong beer. The person in the grill burnt our burgers as we ordered medium and they were well done. We told Shelby and she offered to have them recook them but we didn't want to wait to have another well done burger brought to us. I doubt the kitchen was notified they over cooked them 2 levels We'll come back but hope they raise the bar and be more consistent. They need some improvements- add more beers like Heineken, add good olives and stuffed with blue cheese, add good black cherries and block ice cubes for liquor drinks. read more

I wanted an old fashion. Al,they had were those red icecream cherries. For the price they charge they should take some pride and have the correct cherries. No pride or don't know how to make an old fashion. We had some sort of a veggie plate. It was basically dried out bread and some vegetables. Was not as described. Next up was the calamari, all the breading fell off and we were left with cold rings. I would pass on those also. I was hoping to find a little treasure but alas.its a disappointment. maybe they just don't know what they are doing. read more

We got to Black Prong at 7pm, hostess asked if we had a reservation, we didn't, and went to see if they could seat us. I decided while waiting to goto the bathroom, when walking through the dining area I noticed the restaurants 40% full. So one would think the wait won't be that long. T huh e hostess came back and said to our party of 4 that we couldn't be accommodated tonight. As anyone else would we left and went somewhere else. While waiting for our food at the next restaurant we decided to check open table to see if there were any open reservations, to our surprise there was an open reservation for the rest of the night for every 15 mins. Now why couldn't we be seated? We haven't been in a long time to black prong, the service is and has been slow, orders messed up regularly, drinks take 20-30 minutes to come out. I have no idea why we wanted to eat here again but we figured let's give them one last shot after being disappointed so many times. We will not be back! Find a hostess who has a brain! read more

Was there in February for a birthday dinner and had a great meal. Had the Mahi, he had the steak, the food was fabulous. Nice birthday event. Tonight had another birthday with a friend from C.T. He had the fish and chips,Hubby had the steak, I ordered the shrimp and grits. The fish was tasteless the French fries were soggy. The birthday person had the steak. Last time he had the steak he had mashed potatoes and vegetables. The menu had changed now he had the steak and vegetables but the same soggy cold French fries. My shrimp and grits was soupy without taste the shrimp were greatly over cooked. So I told the waitress that I did not want the meal and I settled on the fish and chips as my guest never said how bad the meal was. When my meal came out. I just took one bite and said I want the check. I got up and told the manager that The entire night was ruined. So I came home and had some toast. The manager comped the check but there must be a new cook. The shrimp and grits were 23 dollars, the fish and chips were 18 dollars, and the steak was 25.00. Food in that price range should be at least edible. We will not return. Saddened as we were excited that there was a new place to eat. Our waitress and staff was nice and the entertainment was okay. This restaurant is an absolute gem with a high-end, warm atmosphere and delicious food at great prices. The appetizers, entrees, and cocktails were fantastic. My favorites were the Brisket BBQ Tacos, the Shrimp & Grits, and the Pink Lemonade cocktail. My group sat at the bar and received excellent and friendly service while watching our favorite sports teams on the flat screen TVs. This restaurant is great for a family night out or even a romantic date. Certainly the best restaurant in or around Levy County, and I'm certain I'll be back to try more items off the menu. The Black Prong Bar and Grill was a HUGE disappointment and a complete waste of our time on New Years Eve. My husband and I had gone to the Black Prong Bar and Grill for dinner about a week after it opened and although it had some glitches, the food was decent and we looked forward to finally having a good restaurant near Williston to go to, assumed it would get better and the limited food selection would improve. When the Black Prong advertised a New Years Eve dinner event, despite the high price for this area, ($100 per person), we booked a reservation. The price didn't bother us if the food was going to be good since we wouldn't have to drive a long distance for dinner if we drove to someplace like The Embers, Mark's Prime Steakhouse or Shula's. Big mistake going here. The food we were served appeared to be prepared by someone who had no idea at all how to plan and cook a good meal. The first "round" of food was supposed to be "Lobster Bisque and Key West Shrimp Shooter with Calabrian Chili Popcorn". When it was brought to our table my husband and I just looked at each other like it was a joke!! What was brought to our table looked just pitiful. The waitress brought each of us a small shot glass of what was supposed to be Lobster Bisque with one dry shrimp hanging on the glass and a tiny bowl of popcorn on the side, which was tacky. You had to drink the "bisque" from the shot glass, which was the equivalent of two or three spoonfuls you'd get in a bowl of real lobster bisque in a fine restaurant. My husband and I like lobster bisque and have had it in many fine restaurants, SERVED IN A BOWL! This was terrible and tasted like fishy cocoa with a dry shrimp. The few pieces of popcorn were cold and dry and it was just a very tacky side which we didn't eat. This first "round" of food was supposed to come with wine, what we thought would be a glass. The waitress poured me about an 1/8th of a glass, which I finished in three sips. I then sat there for about 20 minutes with no more wine and was not offered anymore. Then the second "round" of food came. It was supposed to be "Gently Smoked North Atlantic Dry Sea Scallops with yellow lentil cream, fresh peas, toasted hazelnuts and aged balsamic". When it was served there was ONE, yes ONE scallop in the middle of a giant bowl sitting in some cold sauce. I then got my second ration of wine, plus my husband's ration, to get a half of a glass. Next came the "main course" which was supposed to be "Grilled Black Angus Sliced Prime Rib Eye, Scalloped Yukon Gold Potato, Grilled Asparagus Tips and Lobster Butter". When that was brought to our table the "Prime Rib Eye" looked like a thin breakfast steak you'd buy at Winn Dixie and it was cold and as tough as leather, surely not prime meat and definitely NOT sliced off of a piece of prime rib then grilled. The butter on top of the steak was so hard and cold it just sat on top of the steak. The potatoes were cold, as were the two tips of asparagus. Both my husband and I ate only a couple of bites and were highly upset that not only had we wasted our New Years Eve dinner, it was going to cost us $200 plus for all of this terrible food and one glass of wine!! We called over the manager, who didn't seem like a bad guy but he appeared to be a young kid that was definitely not experiended to be running what was supposed to be an upscale restaurant. He seemed to have no clue what good food was supposed to be like. When we complained about the food he said, "Didn't you look at the menu?" Wow. I told him if the menu listed what we were actually served-- a SHOT GLASS of what was supposed to be lobster bisque, ONE dried up shrimp, some popcorn, ONE scallop in some cold sauce and a thin cold tough steak with a hunk of frozen butter on top, cold vegetables and ONE glass of wine, we never would have come there, certainly not for $200 plus!! Then he said that no one else had complained!! I didn't really believe that. My husband and I have been to many upscale restaurants and if that was the case, others eating there either had no idea what good food was, or they just didn't want to complain. We ended up turning down the final course, which was supposed to be dessert. The manager discounted our bill to $100 even though we didn't have anywhere near $100 worth of food or wine. Sadly, our New Years Eve was a waste. Whoever bought the Black Prong appears to have put a ton of money into in it, and it looks great, but if the restaurant doesn't change, sadly, it will not survive. It's pretty perplexing that someone put that much money and effort into the place but didn't employ someone who knows how to successfully run a good restaurant, and apparently didn't hire a good chef. My husband and I retired and moved up here several years ago for peace and tranquillity, and love the area, but we always wished there was a good restaurant to go to. We will not return unless we hear it has changed. read more
