If you go to the beach, you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas from a third party, however it was pricey so I would suggest bringing your own if you plan to go multiple days. They had fireworks on the beach off the pier which were nice to see. They had activities for the kids by the pool, however they do charge extra and are not included with your stay. Only a few minor complaints that aren't deal breakers such as the bathroom sink sprayed water everywhere, sit down breakfast took a long time due to crowds, very slow Wi-Fi, and outdoor showers didn't have enough water pressure to get all the beach sand off adequately. The only pain point I can say about our stay is the website states the parking is $15/day and the hotel staff indicated upon checkout that they now charging $20 and have been for several months. Even though there is nothing indicating the price increased and that they are aware that the website contains the incorrect amount, they refused to honor the $15/day parking price. Although the difference is only $5 (or $7.20 after taxes), this adds up daily. The hotel could have easily accommodated a price match since it is their own website stating a lower amount.

My wife, Juliann, and I just enjoyed our first-ever weekend getaway as a couple without the kids,…read moreand it was exactly what we needed. Let's start with the resort itself. The property is beautifully maintained, clean, and updated. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was efficient, friendly, and welcoming. Throughout our stay, the housekeeping and groundskeeping teams were incredibly helpful and, most importantly, genuinely proud of where they worked. That pride was evident in the care they put into every detail and the joy they showed while interacting with guests. The pool area was absolutely gorgeous, and the lazy river offered fun for guests of all ages. One of our favorite features was the waterfall--it created a peaceful ambiance with its calming sound that made it easy to relax and unwind. Beach access was convenient, well maintained, and just steps away. The breathtaking views gave us the perfect opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy some much-needed time together. A special thank you goes to the staff at Riptides. We highly recommend having breakfast there! Raelynn and Crystal both went above and beyond to make every meal enjoyable. Crystal provided outstanding service and was warm, personable, and attentive throughout our visit. During one lunch, a storm rolled in unexpectedly, and Raelynn made sure we stayed dry, helped us get settled, and quite literally saved our lunch date. Her kindness and quick thinking didn't go unnoticed. We also have to recognize Joe and Diego at the Tiki Bar. These two are true masters of their craft. They were friendly, engaging, and consistently made outstanding cocktails that kept us coming back throughout our stay. We even took advantage of the hot tub and fitness center to start each day refreshed. But as parents, we discovered something important: you go into a vacation thinking you'll pack every minute with activities, when in reality, the greatest memories come from slowing down. At this beautiful Holiday Inn Resort, it was the peaceful moments, meaningful conversations, new friendships, and uninterrupted time together that made this trip unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who helped make our first kid-free getaway such a memorable experience. We can't wait to come back!

I believe other hotels in the area charge for parking too. You don't have a choice because there is no street parking. Was here on a Friday evening before Christmas and was told they could give me an upgrade because they weren't that busy. I ordered my room in the app and had ordered a king bed. I was upgraded to 2 queen beds but it had an ocean front view. We had a room at the end of the hall, which was quiet. The room was clean and comfortable and we actually had a deck on the 6th floor. This was very nice. We did not visit the restaurant or use the pool but did stay until close to our 11 am check out time. We were going into a condo the next day so didn't have a lot of places to hang out at as our check in at the condo was 4 pm. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and we appreciated the room facing the ocean with its own balcony. If needed, we would gladly stay here again.

This problem was immediately rectified, and we were given a room right away. The front desk clerk apologized and was very pleasant the entire time. The lobby area was clean, as was the hallway and our room - though I always bring Clorox wipes and Lysol to wipe everything down. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom is set up to be quite accommodating for anyone with mobility issues. Of note, I noticed that the shower drain was not clean (could clearly see hair on the drain). Hopefully, the staff who cleans the room will be more thorough going forward. I had an issue the first night with the curtains, which led to the light in the parking lot being very distracting. However, upon relaying my issue to the front staff the next day, the problem was resolved immediately. The breakfast was decent; nothing really outstanding. There was cold shredded cheese available, but I wanted melted cheese on my egg white omelet. A staff member was nice enough to pop it in the microwave for me for a few seconds. Overall, a few small issues, but the staff was just super nice and I appreciate that.

It took 3 weeks to talk to a manager and they notified me there was nothing they could do for us. We've stayed here twice before and never experienced something this bizarre. Our family won't use Hilton services again.

Over all, we would stay here again because of the cleanliness, friendliness of staff, convenience of in house restaurant, food truck, outdoor bars and two pools as an option, and walking distance to four other restaurants and souvenir shops and the location was perfect! Everyone has expectations of their own in how they "think" places to stay should be, but, there again, we were very fortunate to be able to book this place and would stay here again. Cons: 1. Did not know that they would put a hold of 445.00 on our credit card for any other charges 2. Phone in room did not work the whole time we were there and notified staff 3. Air conditioner would not go below 68 for sleep and when you were there it would heat up to 74 and very humid in the room as well. 4. Washer Dryer only takes credit cards and not cash 5. Could not check out on the TV as indicated ( really not a big deal, but would have been a convenient factor) 6. Check out was another surprise of $16 for parking plus tax and $29 plus tax for entertainment provided (we did not use the entertainment, but was still charged for this)

My mom and I take a trip for her birthday every year. After a long morning of flying, we arrived to…read morethe "resort". There were two front desk employees there, one was finishing checking in a family, so we went to the second, Shade. We were not greeted or even looked at in the eyes, she even yawned in our faces a few times. We checked in around 2pm, but were treated like we were an inconvenience. The only time she smiled at us was when her coworker mentioned she would be next to go on break, then she smiled and laughed with the coworker. We get it, we also worked customer service, even at hotels, so this must have just been an off day for her. When asked how to avoid the smoke fee (as listed in previous reviews) when blowdrying my hair, her advise was to blowdry my hair in a closed bathroom. I could not do that as it was way too hot, so I just didn't blowdry my hair the whole vacation. For the amount we spent for a double room suite- beach front, I should have been able to blowdry my hair in my room without concern for a $250 smoking fee. The next day after we finish up breakfast, we went to the front desk to ask about a late check out on our last day. Shade is there, so we go up smiling and ready to give her another chance. When we ask for a late check out she says and repeats the phrase "you will need to ask day of" about 3x. We understood the first time, but we were asking that IF it was available day of, what time would late check out be? Would it be 12pm, 1pm, 3pm, what was the policy at this specific hotel? "you will need to ask day of". very rude and blunt. That same day, we head to the beach where two chairs and one umbrella cost $60 for the day plus tax (should be included for a "resort") we get a call from the front desk asking us to come back to the front desk because our keys will no longer work for our room. Its my moms birthday, so I tell her to stay and I go from the beach to the front desk (about a 10 minute walk) and speak with a manager. The manager then asks what time we checked in last night because they had us as a no show. The only reason they knew we were there was because housekeeping saw us leave the room that morning. This means that anyone could have checked in our room that night or that day because we had been improperly checked in. I told her we checked in the afternoon (2pm), Shade was there so the manager asked her what happened. She then blamed us for checking in with a "large group". It was just me and my mom, the people before us were checking in with the other front desk employee. There were no apologies, there were no concessions offered, just a "here are your new keys" and that was it. The "resort" is a no smoking resort, but the smell of marijuana was everywhere. We saw a carton of cigarettes floating in the water at the beach on our first day. Even the bands that were hired by the resort were smoking during their sets. The room was cleanish, but really out dated. there were no closets or robes as any other "resort" would provide. The AC worked but it was so loud I was woken up many times by it. We stayed during the fourth of July, and because we were ocean front, all the illegal fireworks on the beach were going off until around midnight. One of the fireworks set off on the beach actually caught the tall grass in front of our rooms on fire. We weren't able to sleep until they stopped. I do not recommend this "resort" in any capacity, but especially for the price. Go elsewhere if you want a relaxing beach vacation

The location was great, the room was amazing, the amentities were the best part. This is a great place for families as the many pools and water areas are so much fun. They have poolside activities like poolside movies. There is a small tiki bar with a small menu on site as well. They also offer umbrella/chair rentals on the beach in front of the resort. I can imagine without the construction project you have a better chance of walking to the nearby restaurants/attractions, but we opted to drive. The parking is gated as well as the pool areas.

BEWARE AVARI VACATION RENTALS: Condo uninhabitable,…read moresignificant water damage and mold, refund or relocation refused We booked unit A412 at the Waterscapes in Fort Walton Beach through Avari. Upon entering the condo I noticed a musty smell and the condo looked severely neglected- chipped paint throughout the corners and baseboards that looked like it needed to be touched up for multiple seasons, with significant water damage and mold/growth growing around the baseboards and drywall in the bathrooms. Upon brushing my teeth I noticed that the bathroom faucet was completely caked with black and green mold and we ended up using bottled water to brush our teeth. One of the showers wasn't dispersing water properly and it was actually painful to shower because of how much pressure was coming out of the shower head (water was only coming out of half of it, so it was shooting out to the point I couldn't shower my child because it was like pins and needles). Usually high water pressure is great but this was extreme and from obvious neglect. When we got into bed we noticed our sheets were stained throughout the middle of the bed. The condo was truly disgusting and I have ZERO idea how anyone thought it was OK to have guests in it at all. We had to stay there one night because our flight got in super late (we arrived at the condo around 12:30 am) and I had my 3 year old with us so we ended up switching beds to one that looked cleaner and crashing for just the night hours (until around 8:30) before hauling out of there. I was in contact with customer service from about 1-2 am, but was told I would have to wait until the on site property management before I could be relocated or refunded. When I finally got a hold of the on site property manager (after calling multiple times from 8:30 am- 10:30 am) she told me I could not be relocated or refunded. It was after 11 am before I could see her in person though there were several urgent orders put in for her to contact me. We walked through the condo together and I pointed out all the issues above and told her the condo was uninhabitable and to ask again, and I was told the same again (no refund or relocation to a different condo). Apparently if the individual owner doesn't want to refund you your money- it doesn't matter if the place has obvious mold issues and unlivable! As a side note I woke up with a sore throat and itchy/runny sinuses that resolved after leaving, so I will be reporting this condo to the local health department. I truly believe this place is a major health hazard and caution everyone to stay away from Avari- they obviously do not care about the health and safety of their customers.
