We rented a unit here on a trip to Destin. It was a popular choice on the third party rental company we used. There was great communication from the start all the way up till the time we left. It accommodated our party of four just fine. The unit itself was immaculate and the décor gave off big time beach vibes. The condos are located right off 98 with easy access to all the restaurants and stores nearby. It is also walking distance to their own beach access which was awesome and we used it daily. Unfortunately, the weather was a little chilly so we didn't brave the big, cool pool. We did take advantage of the smaller pool next to the beach. Do not stay here. got woken up at 7am on my vacation to extremely obnoxious construction that's sounds like someone is taking a jack hammer directly to the ceiling. It's so loud I couldn't hear someone trying to talk to me in the same room as me. hours and hours of jackhammer ear raping me. read more

We had an overall good stay here in room 1106 which is a penthouse 4 bedroom apartment. The dining and living room area are spacious and modern. The kitchen is also decent sized, although not as modern as I would have expected, but still very functional and clean. The master bedroom is pretty amazing. There are just two big downers for this unit. Two of the bedrooms are literally right In front of the elevator, and the unit isn't very soundproof. Which means that you can hear the elevator going up and down as early as 5:30am. Also, if you're staying in one of the bedrooms that shares a wall facing the elevator, the flood lights in the hallway penetrate in to the room all night long. Those windows need to be able to be blacked out. Needless to say, we didn't sleep very well. However, the beach is literally a 2 minute walk from the front door. The pool is big and clean. The people were all pretty awesome. If you're coming to Destin, this is a good spot. read more

I recently stayed in unit 610 (hosted by Beth L). I found it on a rental platform site that is very popular online. The view is beautiful, the place is clean, the unit is fairly updated, and the beach toys are aplenty. The second bedroom is small--I'm talking closet level small. There is no closet. No hooks. No dresser. No luggage racks. In all honesty, I'm not sure if you can call it a second bedroom without a closet. It's so small that the door to the bathroom won't open completely into the room. In addition, the bedroom windows all back up to the breezeway/hallway. This is a big problem for noise. read more

We really enjoyed our stay in mid May. The area was clean and although there are not alot of amenities this property covers all the basics. There is one large pool and a smaller one across the road. There is also a small section of private beach. Chair rentals are $50/day $250/week. I think for a private beach section they should have better rates (note if you reserve online in advance it's cheaper). read more

It was a nice quiet community. The condo was so clean , nice, and neat. The staff called to check on me and my husband to make sure everything was to our liking. They also explained the beach bands. The dishes were clean. The only thing they didn't have: salt and pepper. I have stayed in other places, and those are the basics. Other than that. Everything was perfect. read more

Everything about the condo was great...especially its location. Our view of the golf was spectacular to wake up to every morning. We were also able to see the beautiful pool as it changed color at night. Easy access to Sterling Shores private beach was an added bonus along with having a restaurant in our back yard. Our group of friends were planning a weekend getaway from Atlanta and decided to visit Destin. We were looking into Airbnb options and we stumbled across a beautiful condo in Sterling Shores Condominiums. Sterling Shores is wonderful with a great location. You can walk to the beach (they have their own private entrance on the beach) and everything else is a 5 minute drive (food, shopping, etc). Plenty of parking and 2 pools! The Airbnb we stayed at had a HUGE patio.....the view from the patio was EVERYTHING! The condo is a 2/2 with a full stocked kitchen, W/D, HUGE Patio, master suite, 2 pull out sofas, etc. Everything you could possibly want! There are even 2 beach chairs! The owner is very nice. I had discovered this remarkable condominium approximately ten years back. A friend with his sisters, one of their fiancé (which are married today with two children) had invited me to go on this vacation trip with them. There was a good size participants to accompany each other on this trip. Because I was originally extended the invitation, I assumed reservations were resolved. May I add, this was a pending preparation just one day prior to July 4th.... O_o I received a call (Being already packed) with a requisition. Will I help them make a reservation one day before the most busy celebrated time of the year? In my mind, it's not going to happen. Made calls from the bottom, all the way up the coast in P.C. just hoping for some luck. It amounted to total failure. Moving further up north on the map, I found my finger pointing at Destin. Sterling Shores became the ultimate advocate in supplying our gratifying get-a-way. They were fully booked but one unit that was somehow vacant. This only available unit was their pent house. The representative agent Ebony (who is the current manager today) must have taken fascination in my full name or naturally is a sweet heart. The last pent house unit was offered at a generous deal that could not be turned down. =) Ever since the discovery of this gorgeous establishment, I've made it my intimate destination. I attempt annually visitations. At times, a two bed room for a week or two all to my self or with my ex (my gf at the time) and friends. Every friend I have lured here were captivated. My favorite destination had became their favorite and that's how the approbation trickled down from friend to friends to even families. (a couple i invited made a revisit that lead them to have their handsome son). The condo comes with a fully equipped kitchen and I prepared all my meals from sunrise to sundown (drinks lasted from sunrise to sundown too). I prefer my cooking over most the restaurants here (tried them all). Yes, my seafood boil beats the restaurants. All my vacation plannings at Sterling Shores has been done by connecting with Ebony. She has been the most accommodating while treating me with a phenomenal executive experience. I am so appreciative that she is still around managing this establishment. With my loyalty to continuously return and referring friends, Five Stars is irrefutable. read more

We stayed 1004 unit for the weekend, everything seemed decent/clean until I walked in to the bathroom. It had dried urine spots right on the toilet seat, and another bathroom had it in the sides, I know they charge people $200 cleaning fee, makes absolutely no sense when they are not keeping the space clean. I'm not sure what kind of cdc guidelines they are following because I'm pretty sure anything that's used the most should be kept clean. Took me half an hour to wipe off whatever I could, just so I can have peace of mind knowing that my family is safe. Please do your research before renting with these people I did reach out to them regarding this matter, what I got was" want us to send cleaning people" why would I want that when we want to enjoy time with family, it should've been clean in the first place. read more

We are traveling from Texas to Destin for my sons baseball tournament. We rented room 718 at sterling shores for $500 a night. After buying $200 worth of groceries we put some stuff in the fridge and went to the beach. Condo appeared nice.. came back from the beach and started cooking dinner. Cockroaches started coming out from everywhere. We realized they were in the cabinets, drawers, food, coffee pot and everywhere. We immediately called and they wanted to send maintenance to spray. I said absolutely not, as I am not staying in a roach infested condo and I'm certainly not cooking food and subjecting my family to chemicals used to kill roaches. After being told they can move us to another location we packed everything up and moved to the new location. We went from a really nice condo to a crack hotel. It was terrible.. come to find out when reading other reviews of Sterling Shores this exact room had a bad review posted not even a week ago of the same exact thing happening. They KNOWINGLY put my family in a roach infested room. Completely disgusting. After spending hours on the phone with them and getting zero resolution we are having to find a hotel last minute because there are zero rooms left. Wyndham vacation rentals is awful, beware. They are dishonest and don't try to help you. Thank goodness we booked with VRBO and they got involved. We will be getting a full refund or I will be contacting my attorney when I get home. The home was actually a lot more spacious than it looked in the photos. Kitchen and bathrooms seem very recently done. I was visiting the area on business and needed a comfortable, quiet location for a few days--but would love to return with my family and explore the pool features. Even though it's not right on the beach, the community pool is and you don't have to cross any real traffic to get there. Everyone I met in the neighborhood was super friendly, as well. read more

My family and I go to Destin every year. This was our first and last time at Sterling Shores. Vacasa, the "Management" company passed me around and took very little responsibility when it came to the condition of our condo. The front desk staff was useless and unhelpful. We stayed in a "penthouse". It was filthy. Stains on the couch and carpet. The carpet was dirty and sticky in many places. Candy wrappers under and behind the bed. My husband was stabbed in the foot by carpet tacks leading into the master bathroom. Maintenance came to fix a screen and left a bottle of cigarette butts on the patio table. The property was just as dirty. Trash cans overflowing with trash everyday, cigarette butts littered all around the pool area. I have emailed and spoke to several different people from Vacasa that acknowledge the conditions were despicable, spent hours on hold, and runaround emails... $2500 for 4 nights, I feel robbed. Avoid at all cost. The Hampton Inn right next door is much nicer. Please see photos for just a small example of the filth. read more

This place is very nice. You must stay above the 4th floor if you want to see the beach. Great access to the private beach with food and beverage service to you chair. The back porch is within walking distance and the food is incredible. Breakfast place within walking distance. The elevators run slow but I've found that to be common at vacation spots. They have on site grills for you to use if you desire. Two pools, one right next to beach and one right by the condos, neither of which where over crowded and we stayed there during the 4th of July week. We were able to see the fireworks from our balcony which was nice. I would definitely come back to Sterling Shores. read more

I really loved this place. It was extremely nice and was exceptionally clean upon arrival. It's not exactly a beachfront property but the ocean is visible. A short walk across a very seldom used street gets you to the sand. It's located in the heart of Destin so you only have to drive when you need to go far off. The Back Porch Grill is right next to it and it's an excellent place to eat with a bar on the beach. I honestly don't see ourselves saying anywhere else in Destin next time we come down! read more

Stayed at Sterling Shores Destin, FL. The biggest plus is they were easy to contact and responded quickly to all inquiries. The unit needs updating, including new furniture and a new shower. There were chunks of dirt in the shower door that was built up, very disgusting. There was also grime on the shower head that looks like it's been there for some years. The shower head was broken and the water didn't come out right. There was hair on the wash cloths, glad i brought my own from home. The patio furniture was rusted and needs to be replaced. The bathroom seems larger than the sleeping area. There was no furniture inside accept the bed and 3 dressers/night stands. There was a cheap plastic table and a computer chair by the door, but no where to eat at for 2. The patio door was super hard to open. It was stuck, my husband could barely get it open. The bed wasnt that comfortable and it was small. The floor wasnt cleaned well. I made the mistake walking barefoot and had dirt on the bottom of my feet. It is close to the beach, and they have a resort style big pool and a smaller beach front pool with a snack/drink bar, which wasnt open everyday, not sure why. The front door only says A, not 701A. We were trying to enter our neighbors apartment because our door wasnt labeled correctly. The AC is very loud. You can hear everything in the next room, made me feel there wasnt any privacy. I dont think I would stay in this unit again. read more

SPRING BREAKERS: DO NOT COME HERE. It is an awesome place with really cool amenities (example: leaving the beach there is a patent pending foot washer for sand) and beach access. Codes for all doors and gates which is nice. The only problem came when one of the security guards gave us a hard time because we were under 25 and technically THEY (Sterling Shores) does not rent to under 25, but we went through a third party. We felt like we were being targeted for our age and we are really respectful 22 year olds. read more

I gave Sterling Shores 2 stars because the condo was very clean and nicely maintained. However, it was not what we paid for. When making our reservation I specifically asked for a condo with twin beds in the second bedroom for our 2 teens. We were given condo 307 and the description listed 2 twin beds. However, when we arrived we found only 1 bed in the second room. I went downstairs to speak with the front desk; I was told they had no other condos they could put us in. But they would be sending up a roll away bed at "no cost to us". Well....ok but I paid over 2 grand for a room that is not what we needed. The front desk made no effort whatsoever to make it right, just said sorry and they would send up a roll away bed. I tried contacting someone via the phone number and website but never got a response. I understand that mistakes happen and even being fully booked and not being able to be moved. But when a customer pays for a service and then doesn't get what they paid for, some kind of effort needs to be made to right that wrong. Which in NO WAY happened at Sterling Shores. In short, yes the condo was nice and well kept, but there are a lot of those in Destin. Next time we visit, we plan on staying somewhere that understands customer service. And for the record, this was brought to their attention over a week ago and they STILL have not changed the description of the condo to reflect 1 bed in the second room. So it's obvious they have no interest in making sure guests get what they need. read more

This place is awesome to bring the whole family. One giant lagoon pool and a sea shell shaped pool on the beach. Unit 606 was very nice with a perfect view of the ocean. Free movie rentals for the kids and a great place to eat right across the road. Make sure to take a pic of all the codes they give you the gates to get in and make sure you type them in slow or they won't work. I will be coming back next year. read more

We've stayed here five summers in a row. It's perfect for families of different generations. Children love having the option to swim at the beach and the pool. There is also a kids program that offers fun activities throughout the week. The condos are spacious and comfortable. Balconies and views are amazing and you can't beat the location. The complex is well populated but is not noisy and doesn't feel crowded. Additionally, the office staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend Sterling Shores for summer rentals. read more

Great Location, nestled just off the sands of the gulf. The only thing separating the sand from the doors of the condos is a small side street and Sterling Shores lower pool. Just something to keep in mind depending on how picky you are about the use of "beachfront". I do consider it Beachfront and every condo has an ocean view. There is one large pool closest to the condos, and across the small street is a second pool situated in the sand. Immediately next door to the lower pool is "Back Porch Grill" a great seafood restaurant with a seasonal tiki bar in the sand open to all beach goers, The lower pool of Sterling Shores also has a small grill / snack bar serving a small menu, drinks, and ice cream. During Peak times there seems to be a shortage of lounge chairs around the pool, where sunbathers go down and claim their spot early in the day and bake away til after lunch. But as the day wanes on, the pool clears out. Especially in the evening when you can take a dip or sit by the pool and be completely alone. The condos are always clean,but maybe it is impossible to keep the sand out of beachfront properties? I think it just gets incidentally pumped in with the AC, brought in with shoes and floats in through the open balcony. This place is like paradise to me. We've come back many times over the years. Heaven in a hotel. My entire family fell in love with this place and vow to come here whenever possible. We loved the view, the amenities are awesome. The girls and I got to do tie dye shirts and watch a movie by the pool white eating popcorn and smores. They have private beach access, which we didn't find until our last day. They also have to different pools which everyone loved. We loved the actual condo and it was updated and very roomy and perfectly fit 5 adults and 2 children. Every single room faces the beach which is amazing, but our room was on the very left end of the hotel which is right in front of a seafood restaurant and the candy maker restaurant/store so we didn't get the best view. There is also more condo's in the works going in front of the candy maker store which is going to block the view even more and the 7 am wake up calls from the noise of the cranes and slamming of equipments wasnt so great. Next time I will be sure to ask for a room on the opposite side. Love this place and we WILL be back! read more
