I have been coming here for years and have never written a review. My daughter and I came for dinner so I remember to take pictures so I can finally write one. This is by far one of my most favorite restaurants. Everything I have ever eaten here has been delicious. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. I've never had bad service here. My bestie invited me to this place in Arlington, not my usual town to dine, but I like trying new places. She had been to their downtown location and insisted I would love it! It's a quaint place in a little strip mall. Very clean and beautiful decor. Our server was very polite, super nice and gave us plenty of suggestions when we asked for them. WE began with the cold appetizer - with hummus and all kinds of good treats - try it. After that we split a delicious Greek salad. I ordered a lamb kabob. It was good, but I was so full I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites by the time I got to it! They had some lovely live music - an acoustic guitar - very nice. Istanbul Grill is our number one place to eat when visiting family in the area. The servers are very friendly and welcoming and everything we have eaten here is sensational. High quality meat, flavorful, nicely seasoned and expertly prepared. The Turkish meatballs (Kofte) are the best I've eaten anywhere, with great grilled vegetables and my son loved his Chicken Gyro. While in Arlington went to lunch with some friends. What a lovely treat we brought a couple bottles of yummy white wine as BYOB. We started with a cold appetizer sampler and for the table mixed grill for 2 and the whole fish. The food was delicious, flavorful and fresh. Great server. The fish was my favorite moist and flaky came with a lite vinaigrette salad and rice simply delicious. Mixed grill was also very good with warm naan. Cute decor. It's funny how from the outside you wouldn't think much of a restaurant with a plain text sign that says "Istanbul Grill". But it caught my partner's eye since Turkish food isn't a very common cuisine. We came here to celebrate my grandfather's 100th birthday and he wanted to treat 30 of his family members out to dinner. The restaurant graciously provided us 3 long tables for our reservation. The interior is very Turkish. Beautiful artistic taste with the evil eye decor and colorful handmade lighting fixtures. The service was unmatched. If you finished your water, right away someone came over to refill. I swear this was the most hydrated I've ever been at a restaurant. The food was PHENOMENAL. Everyone ordered something different, but we shared a mixed cold appetizer platter and a mixed hot appetizer platter. They even served the table warm pita bread. The cold appetizer was a really nice mix and the flavors all blended so nicely together. The most memorable hot appetizer I was able to get my hands on was the zucchini cake - YUM! Since I was with a large hungry group, I knew to order a few things on my own. I got a red lentil soup which warmed my soul. I could order seconds or thirds. For entree, I got a lamb chop which truly tasted fresh off a grill. My partner got a gyro plate. The meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned. Some family members enjoyed a Turkish coffee and Turkish tea - they loved it. The restaurant even provided a baklava dessert platter with a candle for all of us to sing Happy Birthday to him. I wasnt really a fan of this place. Hummus was smooth, but had a cumin taste to it. Pita was warm and soft Zucchini cakes were a bit greasy Falafel was flat (never saw it that way) not much flavor and greasy Chicken kabob lacked flavor, veg was a little greasy, rice lacked flavor. We were served pita bread and tzatziki sauce which was nice to enjoy while waiting for our meal. Landed on the Lamb Kebab which was a bit tough for me. I asked for medium and it came out well done. The rice was a bit underwhelming that came with the dish. Tasted like instant rice. I was hoping to get jasmine or basmati rice instead. After the meal, I decided to indulge with baklava and a Turkish coffee. Both were a win for me! Not sure if I'd come back here unfortunately. read more

We have been to this place in the past. Most recently, we went for lunch. They have a wonderful lunch special. It comes with an appetizer, an entree, and a drink. We started with Babaganoush and Hummus. It had slightly different taste than some of the Lebanese places in town. It was delicious. We then had the Turkish Meatballs and Beef Kabob. The service was prompt even though they were busy. The atmosphere was a little more upscale than fast casual. The food was delicious. Funny thing... I have driven by Istanbul's many, many times over the years, but never stopped. I have been denying myself GREATNESS all this time, who knew!!! Sipping on a delicious Turkish tea as we perused the restaurant decor and menu, we decided on 1 item from each menu choice. We chose Babaganoush as our cold app, and the Mixed Hot (Cigarette Borek | Zucchini Cake | Falafel), for our hot app. Every item on our hot plate was delicious, the blending taste and textures complemented each other perfectly! Side note... the Falafel was cooked perfectly, served flattened while being nice and crunchy without being burnt, as many restaurants do (I hold the assumption most restaurants are cooking it as if it's Hushpuppies). The Babaganoush was not to my taste, but my husband enjoyed it... so hopefully it will be dish others enjoy. My husband ordered the Salmon Kebab and I had the Beef Moussaka. The Moussaka was surprisingly flavorful (as most restaurants serve it on the bland tomato sauce side). The side vegetables were well seasoned and grilled to perfection (definitely towards the Turkish/Arabic version). The Salmon was absolutely fantastic! Beautifully balanced in seasoning, with a faint hint of woodsy flavor that topped off the taste wonderfully! Salmon was cooked perfectly, not over cooked a bit. By far my favorite of the dishes we tried. Dessert was a treat as well. Creamy Pistachio Cheesecake, and of course Baklava. Both were delicious. All of our choicest were well portioned, in fact I think over on some items, we definitely did not leave hungry. Restaurant is well decorated, nicely themed and definitely classier than one would think from the location. Since my contact decided to revolt during dinner, I got to see the bathroom and inner workings of the kitchen. Everything was super clean there as well, even the supplemental supplies were neatly organized and clean too. Final option... definitely a great place to kick back and be pampered. The staff is amazingly attentive without being obtrusive, wonderfully prepared food that's perfectly delicious and priced not to hurt your wallet. I started w the lentil soup this time and it was very good. My entree was chicken delight and it was a large portion that came w rice. I could have shared it based on portion size. These 2 dishes fed 2 grown hungry dudes and they were super flavorful, tender, juicy, and delicious. The dishes are quite pricey, but it's definitely worth enjoying these kinds of food once in a while. Lots of parking and tables to dine on. The staff are super friendly and fast. My co-worker wanted Mediterranean so we went to Istanbul Grill! We have the hummus and pita and the fried eggplant appetizer, the hummus was creamy delicious, the pita was warm and soft. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with chicken with a lemon vinaigrette. The chicken was melt in your mouth cooked to perfection. The lemon vinaigrette was not to strong just added a bit of zing to the salad. I ate every bite. Other had the chicken kabob and raved about the rice flavor and of course the chicken.
