First of all they held up my kitchen remodel with their lateness, then they threatened to not produce sink when I pressed them. Seams started appearing in the sink right away. Never called because didn't want to deal with their rudeness and defensiveness after that. Cracks around the drain started to appear next and now they are going across the whole sink. Only a matter of time before this sink totally disintegrates. Found out later from my cabinet maker that they had used them before and would not again. My countertops came from somebody up by Vassar. Thank goodness. Just pick somebody else.

The process of choosing materials for your home's counter-tops, backsplashes, and other surfaces couldn't be easier. I recall them having a good amount of "stock" surfaces to choose from when we built back in 2011, but their choices have significantly expanded since then. We were able to select from a wide variety of quartz and granite at a very reasonable price point, but they have a huge selection of materials should you want something other than their stock selections. They are also happy to price out different material choices for you before you make your final choice, which makes the process that much better. Top it off with great service and professional installation and choosing Top of the World Granite becomes a no-brainer and I can recommend them without hesitation.

The finish on the cabinets above the toaster and next to the coffee maker is literally melting off. Because there was some medical issues, the cupboards were not a priority.My bathroom vanity has large pieces of finish missing. I had the salesman come out a few years ago and took pictures and said he would talk to his manager and get back to me. Never heard from him again. Then I got in touch with someone in the Lansing area who sent the manager out. He was very sarcastic and basically threw his hands up and said that it was up to me to fix it. So, here I am, with 8 year old 'custom' cabinets that look terrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Then there was the stupid cuts that were made that were just plain ugly. They require you to pay completely up front so you have no recourse after you sign dozens of disclaimers protecting them and nothing to protect you from their incompetence or mistakes. They did not even to pay for the damaged and broken part of the sink panel. Two weeks ago we were told they would get back to us......still waiting but don't expect we will ever hear from them again. My wife and I went into Dexter Cabinet & Countertop on a Saturday afternoon to get an estimate for…read morecabinets and counters for our new kitchen. It seemed like a nice place with some good options for cabinets and counters. Del was the only one there and helped answer a few questions for us, informing us that he was the "counter guy" and that Tim was not in that day to do our cabinet estimate. That was fine, Del took our information and kitchen details to leave for Tim to contact us with a cabinet estimate. Del seemed knowledgeable about counters and that he'd do a good job with our counter estimate once Tim could get our cabinets done. 5 days later after calling once and emailing Tim, we hadn't heard anything back. We just bought the house and the 3-4 week lead time for ordering cabinets is part of the critical path of our remodel. It has been over 2 weeks now and we haven't been contacted once. We clearly were either not a priority for them or they lost/ignored our request for an estimate. They get two stars because they seem like their product is good and other reviewers have claimed that they do good work. We wouldn't know since they wouldn't even get to the point of giving us an estimate for our business. Make sure to call ahead to ensure that Tim or Del is in before driving over there, don't rely on them to contact you.

The price seemed to not be out of line with the big box stores but the process at those stores was pretty convoluted while Dexter Cabinet put it into one nice package (although we decided to purchase a different faucet than the several good ones they offered in their package). After a couple go-rounds at Lowe's, we threw up our hands and went with the more "comfortable" (and LOCAL) Dexter Cabinet option. Glad we did. I would however recommend that potential customers take some responsibility for keeping the communication going. Contact them if you don't hear back when you expect to. That worked really well for us. This seems to be the way to work with most contractors, we've found.
