Perfect restaurant to grab some Italian small plates!…read more * * * EXPERIENCE * * * A rainy evening at Liverpool, wandering around to find a dinner place and walked into Bacaro. Service was good and attentive, my server did a good job explaining the highlights of the broad menu and yes I was by myself and had 4 dishes, but since the portion was not very big I'm glad I actually got the chance to try out all those wonderful food. * * * FOOD * * * Roasted Tomatoes, Mozzarella and Fresh Basil Pizza: A It tasted just like the name of this dish, the roasted tomatoes added extra grilling taste to the pizza, the dough was perfectly made, lots of mozzarella and bail used in this rather small personal pizza. Roasted Cod: A It's my first time trying creamed mash mixing with egg yolk, the slimy texture was very interesting. Cod was perfectly prepared. But overall it was really the egg yolk that added the delightfulness to the dish. Braised Ox Cheek: A It's kind of gamey which I actually enjoy a lot. It was perfectly cooked, very tender and temperature was very even across the whole piece. The sauce was really interesting, I tried to figure out what it was but still couldn't, there was some truffle and bone marrow flavor to it, and with the creamy mushroom.... perfect. Risotto: A- Perfectly made from texture standpoint, the whole dish was slightly salty but the asparagus added hint of freshness. Lots of flavor on the palate, the snow peas added another layer of texture to the sticky risotto. Overall I enjoyed every dish that evening. Glad that I found such a wonderful place in Liverpool.

Lunch special was great value. 19 euro pp for 3 dishes from the selection. Dishes are the same size…read moreas the regular menu but it's a limited choice Each dish we tried was really tasty. The unanimous favorite was the sea bass though. Id recommend also selecting a pizzette as it is quite filling. Friendly staff. Busy place.. we came around 12ish on a weekday and it was packed. Lots of workers from local offices.

We went there after typical lunching hours and found the place still pretty busy with folks cycling in and out. I heard that the line goes out the door at dinner, so I figured we'd try it out. The huge pane glass window allows ambient light in, then it's classically lit on the inside with yellow lighting to give that Lady and the Tramp effect. :) I ordered one of the daily specials, Risotto Italia, that had diced chicken, slices of ham, onions, mushrooms all in tomato sauce. It was fine, but a little heavy on the sauce. The sauce was good, but it buried the risotto. My dish wasn't nearly as good as Liz's Tortellini Italiana, which came in a meat sauce under baked cheese. The consistency of the crusting cheese was great, and the meat sauce was generous with the meat. We also tried the Bruschetta Tricolor which was a great balance of a caprese salad over a fresh bread and pesto... it was really good. I really enjoyed by visit to Casa Italia. It was very well priced, and I can see why its popular. You get a lot for a little... even with the picodillo (small) portions. Reservations need only be made for groups greater than 6. Give 'er a try!

Because my bf and I weren't familiar with the area, I just googled "gluten-free food" and this restaurant came up and looked pretty positive. By the time we walked there, it was very busy. And so incredibly lucky, as the host said we were the very last walk-ins they could accept, loud with clamour and guests talking over each other. I'm sorry they had to turn away the one other couple behind us, but I was scared too because I wouldn't know where else to get allergy sensitive food. The thing is though, if you do have food allergies here, everyone always tells you that you have to speak up about it every time. I guess I didn't because I always figured I'd just work around my problems. So my host/server always told me I needed to mention that to all the people coming to take my orders. I convinced my boyfriend to try some of the pate -- which came with a piece of gf bread and cucumbers, he didn't like it, but I enjoyed it. It was smooth and creamy -- but also, I felt that I needed more salt as the flavor was semi-bland too. Adding in more salt or pepper isn't really an issue with me, that's why they put those on the table. But bf got some really cheesy lasagna and I got a gluten-free pizza. The crust was thin and had the right texture of chewy-ness and flavor. It was incredibly delicious and delightful. It also took awhile longer, I'm sure the chefs have to be very careful about food contamination, which is why you have to constantly remind servers about your allergies so they can relay it to the back. Which reminds me, by the end of the night, I ordered a basic vanilla gelato. I thought this probably doesn't have any wheat in it! So I ordered it with one of the circulating servers, but our host at the front came over (I wish I remembered his name :( ) came over and took the bowl away because I forgot to tell this server I'm gluten-sensitive. So my bad! But it took so long for the gf gelato to come out. But it was one of the best vanilla gelato's I've ever had. Like nothing compared to any I've tasted in California. I'd definitely recommend this place. Staff was very attentive and food was excellent.
