My friends brought me here as a surprise, late birthday treat and informed me that Grove had opened up when I had been away from the city and had climbed to the top of TripAdvisor's top restaurants in Liverpool in only six weeks! What an amazing achievement! The place is an upscale gastro-pub with Wetherspoons prices. I believe that they've had a menu change of late bbut when I went, approximately a year ago, the mac and cheese pot pie was a steal at £5.95. The "pie" part of the dish was in fact an extremely cheesy omelette that once nudged to the side uncovered a deceivingly large portion of macaroni and cheese. The whole dish was a carb overload and I could only finish half. The waiting staff and the chef exceeded their job roles to make sure the evening was extra special. The chef personally delivered one of my best friend's dishes to her saying that he had made her brioche roll three times bigger than normal for no extra charge! This never ever happens! To top it all off, my friend who had booked the table received a text from the chef the day after asking if we had had a good evening and hopes that we will come back. Such a warm, friendly establishment with excellent service and outstanding food! read more
