Nice Italian restaurant on a side street, great alternative when you had enough meat and potatoes all week. The pasta here is very good cooked with fresh ingredients. The antipasto is very tasty and highly recommended. The frutta di mare dish was alittle disappointing it lacked flavor and the prawns and mussels were small, considering it was the highest cost item on the menu they can use larger ingredients. We had a group of 12 and the place was not that busy during dinner, we asked the waitress if the chef can come out and see us so we could complement some of his dishes and she comes back saying we can stop by the kitchen on our way out! Really! We probably spent the most money that evening. Sounds like the owner chef needs some training in restaurant hospitality and the waitress lost an opportunity for a 20% tip. This is what happens when tips are not part of their compensation in Ireland. Anyway good food for sure. read more

The place was a bit challenging to find--i.e., as challenging as following mobile GPS can be, which wasn't bad at all. The restaurant is located in a shady, back alleyway--a dubious location that belies its excellent dishes. The restaurant seating space spans two floors but each floor is quite small; I'd imagine that this establishment would tender long lines/wait times were it located out front on Main Street. The ambiance is somewhat comfortable/cozy, though also classy. Soft music plays in the background--just enough to support the atmosphere without being intrusive. Candles and wall-mounted lamps provide soft lighting. The beef carpaccio starter arrived quickly, and it met expectations. Nothing much to say about it except that the biscuit was nice--didn't crumble to pieces in one bite. The main dish took longer to arrive (slightly longer than average, according to my subjective sense of time). I chose to go simple for the main dish: ragu pappardelle. The meat was salty enough for the dish; I would recommend holding off on the pepper until you've tasted it first. The pappardelle was prepared pretty well. There was a slight bite, but none of the dry undercooked powdery stuff. In general, main meal portion sizes seem slightly on the small side--do consider the starters and sides. Bonus points: dish presentation was quite creative and evidenced thought/effort. read more

One of the best meals I have ever had! This cozy little restaurant is two blocks from our hotel, Killarney Park Hotel, and we wish we could take it home with us. An excellent eatery that has a tiny main dining room up and two smaller rooms downstairs. Their appetizers were stars. Basic stuff but superbly executed because the ingredients were over the top good. Carpaccio was amazing as was the mozzarella di buffalo with A-list prosciutto that was tender enough to make-a mamma weep for the old country. The scallops with a house cured pancetta and asparagus were delightful, and the lasagna with meat and fresh mushrooms was house made excellence! This is the kinda place that Yelp is ideal for. Would genuinely have never found it otherwise. Having found it, on a little side street, it did not disappoint. While the appearance is a cross between modern and homely, do not let it put you off. The food here is genuinely only second to Italy itself. We started with a buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad which was delicious! The mozz was very fresh and the tomatoes were delicious - we were scraping the plate after. I got the gnocchi which was awesome and my friend got the pasta special which was pappardelle with a white mushroom sauce and she loved it! We had a latte with baileys and more wine for dessert! The wine selection was limited but everything was delicious and the service was great. We went to Italian Cuisine during the slow season. We wanted a break from the traditional Irish pup food and this was a great place! We did the prix fixe menu and every single course was great. My wife and I went there on the recommendation of our concierge. After reading the reviews, a few claimed it had the best lasagna they'd ever eaten. Now, my wife recently had the best lasagna of her life not on our honeymoon in Italy, but in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This, however, was not lasagna. It was beef stroganoff with (very fresh & delicious) lasagna pasta. I liked it, her, not so much. I got beef carpaccio special as an appetizer, which had figs, fontina, olive oil & sweet balsamic. Fanatastic! Her eggplant parm started was also very good. And, as I cannot eat enough red meat (sorry arteries), the beef scallopini was next. Very tasty. Delicious tiramisu to end. Mediocre coffee. Excellent service, modern minimalist decor, but be prepared for a lot of Americans. Overall I would recommend eating here. read more

Warning!!! NO CHICKEN SERVED IN THE RESTAURANT! We were surprised when we got over that they don't send chicken! My wife, who can't eat red meat & fish, ordered vegetarian and u went with a fish dish, which was actually very nice. We searched online days before for the menu with no luck and asked for the menu to be emailed but unfortunately nothing arrived. The staff were very friendly and helped relocate our table after being stuck in a tight back corner of the restaurant. Hope this helps anyone who is a bit fussy with their food selection. read more

Started with delicious broccoli and cauliflower soup while my husband went for potato and pancetta croquettes, both nice but the real star here was the pasta main courses. Just, WOW! I've never had pasta this good outside of Italy. I had an open lasagna with chunks of tender beef instead of mince, a creamy ragu sauce and mushrooms, the pasta sheets were freshly made and so thin, with a crispy crunchy cheesy topping, I think I'll be dreaming about it for a long time!! My husband had prawns with pasta and mushrooms, can't remember what it was called but he said it was one of the nicest meals he's ever eaten. Portions seemed on the small side initially but fresh pasta is so filling that by the time we were finished we were absolutely stuffed and had no room for dessert.
