The crusts were nice and soft inside but crusty outside. It's too bad the pasta dishes were not as great. The pasta sauce tasted like it was from a can. If you ever are in Killarney Ireland and have a craving for pizzas, Piccolo is it!

The frutta di mare dish was alittle disappointing it lacked flavor and the prawns and mussels were small, considering it was the highest cost item on the menu they can use larger ingredients. We had a group of 12 and the place was not that busy during dinner, we asked the waitress if the chef can come out and see us so we could complement some of his dishes and she comes back saying we can stop by the kitchen on our way out! Really! We probably spent the most money that evening. Sounds like the owner chef needs some training in restaurant hospitality and the waitress lost an opportunity for a 20% tip. This is what happens when tips are not part of their compensation in Ireland. Anyway good food for sure.

The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! What made this meal really exceptional was the dessert. Warm banana pie with delicious cold ice cream. Over the span of our 15-day trip in Ireland this was either my favorite dessert or tied as my favorite dessert for the trip. Really flavoursome and soft meat - if, however, your not a big fan of Dijon mustard I wouldn't recommend as it's literally covered in it! I got the Caesar salad and a salmon pasta with some kind of lemon sauce and my favourite tiramisu. When I am back in Tralee next month I will likely pay another visit.
