A local saw us roaming the streets with their heads down in our phone, searching for places to eat. He was so nice and recommended a few places. I actually recommend this place. He even walked us to the restaurant. That's our surprise. He used to even live in Fort Lauderdale once upon a time, but it's been he's been living in Windsor city for a few years now he seems so happy and upbeat. We arrived to the place. There was really not a lot of people there we sat down wherever we liked, and the server greeted us and took our order. I ordered the fish and chips with the Minty peas, I felt like the fish needed more seasoning in my opinion, and I wasn't a huge big fan of the minty peas. My grandmother had a balmoral chicken entree which she enjoyed. The plates were huge and filling. They played music like 90s rock and some Bob Marley. The place was pretty chill with locals at the bar. They did had a dog in there which was cute but also not too cute when it got too close to your food so we had to tell the owner to get their dog

Sunday roast was a great value at about £12. The beef wasn't the best quality but I didn't expect it to be. It was a huge portion and easily shared. They are an easy walk to the tourist throngs streaming under the castle walls, but the feel is like being just a "regula' bloke" having a pint with the neighbors. The family that run the place are very friendly and helpful. The locals that filled the place the Saturday night we stayed all knew each other and it was like watching a PBS show! The food we had was good portions, good price and tasted great. They have typical English ales (Bombardier and Guardsman) on tap and 3 or 4 bottled lagers for those who prefer colder, carbonated beers. The wine selection was small, but adequate and the pours very large! Our room was up 2 flights, but that was because the rooms out back were all booked. Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size for anyone who has stayed in a London area "closet". The bath was small but more than adequate. The bed was comfy and our window overlooked a scene of rooftops right out of Mary Poppins.

This hotel was in a quieter more residential part of town, but an easy walk to shops. Rooms were small but clean, and we would stay here again, as long as you don't mind narrow stairs up to the rooms. There are also one story rooms off the back parking area, but not nearly as charming. Breakfast is served in a back sitting area (additional charge). The pub downstairs is a fun place to hang out with the locals. There is a pool table, and picnic tables outside in back. Even better, a good Elvis impersonator was performing on the Saturday night we booked in. We shared a table with some of the locals that sang along with all the old favorites. Since my husband and I were married in Las Vegas by an Elvis, this Elvis posed for photos with us, and we had a grand time. Music and crowd dropped off after 11 pm which is also the time flights out of Heathrow slow down, so we slept fine (Flight pattern is right over Windsor Castle oddly enough).
