She immediately started asking why am I moving (current rental term was just one year), do I work, how much money do I make, etc. I told her the property would be rented by me and my adult daughter (age 36). Ms. Liu then abruptly stopped me and said we will not combine salaries for you and your daughter to qualify to rent the property. My daughter and I have shared the same residence for over 5 years with no such issue. Also, our combined salaries almost double the yearly suggested amount for the listing. Su Liu was rude and mentioned nothing at all about the property to me on the phone. I asked her to explain why my daughter and I could not rent the property and her response was "your daughter may decide to move out." WHAT??? Seems like discrimination based on family status to me. The listing specifically indicated each perspective tenant would pay application fee and have a background check done. Nowhere in the listing did it indicate what the makeup of the tenants need to be. I would not recommend Su Liu as her approach towards me was not professional and was a disservice for the owner of the property she has been tasked to rent.
