I finally decided it was time to stop being nervous and actually go to the range. After reading the reviews, I decided to check this place out, and I'm really glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I told them it was my first time at the range, and they took the time to explain everything, answer my questions, and help me get set up. That made a huge difference because walking into a range as a newbie can feel a little intimidating. Once I got to my lane, I was only there for about 30 minutes, but I enjoyed every minute of it. My confidence definitely grew, and I left feeling way more comfortable than when I walked in. Overall, great first experience. Friendly staff, helpful guidance, and a welcoming environment for beginners. I'm looking forward to coming back for more practice -- and this time, I promise I won't wait another two years.

We all know, purchases / transfers in California are difficult and wrought with bureaucracy & nonsense. This shop, makes it simple and easy for you to get it done. In addition, they have a very nice indoor range with a VERY wide multitude of rental firearms. Aside from the good customer service & cool indoor range, they had an incredibly wide variety of stock for sale. I noticed they had VERY fair prices, like some firearms were easily $100-125 less a piece than the FUDD gun shops here in (510) Alameda County. I would say the top highlight of this gun shop was the lack of FUDD. I experienced & saw / heard zero FUDD nonsense. Just straight up good, solid, friendly customer service & plenty of great products to choose from. It's also noteworthy that they had a really good inventory of ammo for reasonable pricing. I'll definitely be spending some more money here. Keep it up guys!!

I recently completed my training at Security & Firearms Training Academy, aka SAFTA, for short, and…read moremy instructors were Gunny and JB. It exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and valued. The instructors were not only highly experienced professionals--many with military and law enforcement backgrounds--but also excellent "Military Instructors" who knew how to communicate complex information in a way that was easy to understand and apply in real-world scenarios. Food for thought, if you're a civilian, don't take it personally if they go hard on you, especially on Day 1 (the shocker and expectations), they are not being rude to you. It is just the military way, similar to Basic Military Style, where you're broken down and built back up each day as you learn about Security & Firearms. The curriculum was thorough and well-structured. It covered everything from basic firearm safety and marksmanship to situational awareness, legal use-of-force principles, and de-escalation techniques. What stood out most was the emphasis on responsibility and professionalism. This wasn't just about getting certified; it was about preparing to be a reliable, ethical, and capable security professional if you plan to be an armed or unarmed security professional. The hands-on firearms training was especially impressive. The instructors (Gunny & JB) ensured every student received personalized guidance on the range at Placer Sporting Club, and their attention to safety protocols was top-notch both in class to prep every single student and on the range. Whether you're a complete beginner or have prior experience, the instruction is tailored to help you improve and build confidence. I also appreciated how the academy supported students beyond the classroom. They offered career advice, resume guidance, and even job placement assistance. They are committed to the long-term success of their graduates. The facility itself was clean, organized, and well-equipped with modern training tools and a professional learning environment. Scheduling was flexible, which made it easier for those of us balancing other responsibilities. Overall, I highly recommend SAFTA to anyone serious about entering the security industry or improving their skills. The training I received was not only top-tier but also instilled in me a sense of pride and responsibility in serving and protecting others. Highly recommend for veterans, especially if you just recently completed your active duty contract, and need a steady paycheck that pays well with benefits while you're also going to school using your GI Bill. Thank you, SAFTA team! I will be back for my recertifications and will bring a sweater this time. ;) LOL!

I signed up for the Exposed Firearms Course at Sacramento Security Training Center expecting a long…read moreday of safety briefings, legal terminology, and enough PowerPoint slides to test my will to live. Then I met Instructor Willis. Let me put it this way: if confidence, competence, and firearm knowledge were a controlled substance, Willis would require a prescription. The man knows his stuff. Every question the class threw at him was answered with the kind of experience and expertise that makes you sit up a little straighter in your chair. Whether it was firearms safety, security procedures, legal considerations, or practical advice from the field, he delivered information with precision and clarity. What really set the class apart was his sense of humor. Somehow Willis managed to keep an entire room engaged for hours. One minute you're learning critical safety concepts, the next minute you're laughing hard enough to forget you're in a training course. By the end of the class, I walked away with new skills, greater confidence, and a growing suspicion that Willis could probably teach tax law, forklift certification, or underwater basket weaving and still have the room completely captivated. Sacramento Security Training Center runs a fantastic program, and Willis is an absolute asset. Professional, knowledgeable, hilarious, and dangerously charismatic. Five stars. I'd take another class from Willis faster than a Glock disappears from the rental counter on range day.

If you want to work in security, armed or unarmed, you need to be able to stay attentive, professional, and mentally engaged throughout training. Ian was an excellent instructor and showed strong leadership throughout the course. Looking back on my previous security experience, this class really helped me better understand what good security professionalism looks like. The other instructor was also extremely respectful and helpful. I also want to mention the security staff on site. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and professional, especially one of the security guards, "Saavedra Sia" sorry if I misspelled the name. I appreciated talking with him and learning a little more about the industry. For anyone attending: show up on time. I drove about 35 minutes and still got stuck in traffic, so plan ahead. I also enjoyed meeting a few of our classmates. Overall, I enjoyed the course and appreciate everything the instructors and staff did for us. Thank you again Ian!
