I purchased 4 tix for Ivan's show at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix and attended with my husband, daughter and granddaughter. We did not know what to expect. Suffice it to say, all 4of us were blown away! Every illusion was executed with perfection and left the audience in awe! Took my wife to see his show in NYC. We both thought it was a fun and entertaining show. I've maybe been to two other magic shows my entire life so I'm admittedly easily wow'd by his tricks. The performance was in a banquet room at the Roosevelt Hotel. The room has an old world charm which seems to fit with the act. Ivan does a good job of audience participation which is possible because its a relatively small group he's performing for. It also makes for a more fun experience to be engaged as opposed to just watching as a bystander. It helped that I sat in the front row so I got roped into three separate tricks. I think the cello was a nice touch. She helped set the background mood and provided the occasional dramatic flourish to an act . I think the performance would've been less engaging for the audience had there not been the cellist. And better than pre-recorded soundtracks that can't provide the same timing impact. Overall, a classy entertaining show that I don't hesitate to recommend. read more

I took my mother to the Ivan Amodei show this weekend and it was the perfect thing to do together. The event was at the Four Season's hotel in Westlake which was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful small room that the event was in. It was intimate and intriguing. It really set the stage for an evening of mystery. We were blown away by the show. Ivan is so entertaining and funny and the tricks were mind boggling! I could not begin to understand how he could do what he did, so I just relaxed and enjoyed the evening! He makes sure everyone is engaged and included and his underlying message is one of positivity and encouragement. We thoroughly enjoyed this show and recommend it for the whole family. read more

I bought tickets to this show through Amazon Local and made a reservation for a show. I read online that there were 3 rows of seats in the theater.. WRONG! There were 5 rows cramped together. We were near the end of the line and the theater was filled by the time we got in. They clearly oversold and had to bring in low chairs for the last row. WTF? All the rows were pub chairs and they brought dining height chairs to bring everyone in. I actually started to have anxiety from how tight we were packed in there. I was in the 4th row at the middle aisle edge and couldn't see a thing. It was miserable. I wished I had paid an extra $10 for first-row seats, but hadn't because it said it was only 3 rows so I didn't think we needed it. Big mistake. Seeing that they were still packing people in with a line of people waiting and no room to put more chairs, we offered to give up our seats in exchange for front row tickets to a future show, to which they agreed. We got a card with their info and the guy said he would email my boyfriend to set up tickets the following weekend. He got an email and responded saying we wanted to go to the show that Saturday, as offered in his email. No response. Ever. We never heard from them again and never got tickets to see the show. This was the worst handled show ever. Obviously they're trying to make money and compensate for the Amazon Local discounts by overselling and packing people in. It's awful. I saw David Minkin's Magic & Wine (rather pricey) and it was incredible. I would go see him again before I would go to Ivan Amodei, and I've already seen David Minkin twice! He's that good! Highly highly recommend him over this sham. It's unfortunate because we really love magic, but this is just poorly run. read more

This is a small intimate venue that is quite entertaining with intricate illusions. The room is small and the there are a limited number of seats which allows everyone to see his magic. It doesn't matter where you sit as Mr. Amodei tries to include everyone throughout the evening. He is a master of slight of hand and has a great personality to keep the show lively and personal. My biggest complaint has been with making reservations. I had seen his show previously and purchased tickets for guests coming from out of town that did not speak English well. I made the reservation received confirmation, only to find out there was no show scheduled after my guests were already at the venue. I received an insulting e-mail from the reservation department. You would think that the reservation agent would know that there wasn't a show, instead they confirmed the number of guests, and told me that the guests should arrived at least 20 minutes ahead of the performance as it is a first come first serve basis, the agent hoped that my guests would enjoy the show. After I complained about the problem, the reservation dept indicated I should check the show schedule. If you go to this show, you need to check the website and his show schedule because the reservation department is incompetent. read more

You have to see Ivan Amodei's "Intimate Illusions!" This show is amazing! First of all it is at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, which is gorgeous and such a great spot to take a date. The show is truly original like nothing I've ever seen! The space is intimate and romantic with dimly lit candles and a live cello player (who is amazing btw..) Ivan captivates his audience and impresses with original magic and illusions that are truly breath taking. And the best part is that you are literally sitting just inches from the action. My wife and I went to see Ivan Amodei recently at the Four Seasons Westlake Village. I have been a magic fan since I was a young child. I've seen some of the best magicians and illusionists in the business and think Ivan is among them. I recommend going to his show. It is best to arrive early in order to get in line because it is a very small venue and it is better to sit up close. Ivan is very funny and personable. You will be amazed and have a great night out. My husband and I took our family (26 yr old, 28 yr old and our 10 yr old twins) to see Intimate Illusions at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in December for a holiday-time night out, and Ivan Amodei was amazing, funny, warm and we laughed and were completely entertained with his magic. We live in Malibu and it was well worth the drive. We've been to the Magic Castle many times, which also has marvelous magicians, but Ivan's show made for an up close and personal over-the-top magic experience. We would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have a fun "magical" night out! We have, of course, told all of our friends. We have been to other Magic shows and had enjoyed ourselves so we gave it a go. It was the best, most entertaining magic show we had ever seen! The intimate set up was perfect. Almost every audience member participates creating a truly magical human experience for all. The entire show is accompanied by Ivan's spectacular cellist, who was a centerpiece in her own right. My husband and I went to Ivan Amodei show in Richardson and we loved it. It was fun and exciting. Ivan and Irina the concert Cellist were amazing. He took time after the show to take pictures with everyone and sign autographs. The show was a lot of fun. We would definitely see him if he came back to the DFW area again. read more

This really is an amazing show. We saw him at the Fairmont in San Francisco and had front row tickets (totally worth the extra $10 each). I highly recommend buying the front row option if there is one. Don't worry if he asks you to go up on stage - he is not one of those magicians who wants to make fun of people. He handles the audience in a very professional way and is very respectful. We were so close to the stage and could see everything he did very clearly. Some previous posters think that he may use plants - but they are totally wrong on that front. I was on stage for one of his tricks for about 5 minutes. Very difficult to tell how he was doing it, and I am a real sceptic. There is NO way he uses plants. I'm not sure what the show would be like from the back though. He uses small objects (like coins, pins and cards). Overall, a really great family night out. My two daughters thoroughly enjoyed it. read more
