So when we were looking for a midwife we went to a few and weren't pleased UNTIL we found Charisma Midwifery! As soon as we met Ja'Nelle I felt so calm and at peace maybe it was her energy or the vibes of the place but I knew she was who we wanted, she took such great care of me and my baby and come labor and delivery I loved that she let me and my husband do all the work I felt so in control of everything and she made me feel so comfortable, loved and took in care of through the whole process! Come baby number 2 we found out were expecting and I did not hesitate to say I wanted Ja'Nelle again she treats us like family welcomes us like we've known each other forever and I can't picture having my babies anywhere or with anyone else!!

I found Renea online & met with her a few days later in our home. I knew by the end of our meeting that she was who I wanted beside me as I labored and gave birth. On the day I went into labor we were in constant communication via text. Once active labor began she came over to my home (with all of her essential oils!) and worked through the contractions with me. She was a strong supporter for me during this intense time! She came with us to the hospital and was right by my side as I delivered my son. We hired her again for our second-born son's delivery and she was with me, again, during active labor and at the hospital. We also saw her for a postpartum visit after each delivery. It's been 2 years since we first hired her and we are still friends. I text her randomly with a question and she is quick to reply! I've said this before and i'll say it again--i wouldn't want to birth my babies without Renea by my side!

Where to start? I'm currently writing this 10 days postpartum with my little one in my arms…read more In short, our experience with Erin was nothing short of amazing from start to finish (although we are not finished yet ). For the lengthier review, after interviewing her before booking her, we felt like we just clicked with Erin and her personality/vibe. We knew she would be the right fit for what we were looking for in our first homebirth experience let alone prenatal/birth experience in general. We began care with her at 13 weeks (because we took our dear time early pregnancy lol). Every appointment was filled with attentiveness, education, resources, care, laughs, hearing our baby's heartbeat, and an open field of questions and answers. Although my husband was on board with homebirth, he was still more uneasy about it in the beginning. After each appointment, he gained more and more confidence to the point where he was the one fielding questions by family members and friends during all of the holiday festivities. It was great! After months of appointments and preparation, it was time to meet our baby. Erin was available from the beginning signs of labor to answer my questions and be ready when the time was right to come over and help me through to the end. It was a long weekend for this first time mom, but once things picked up it was go time. Erin arrived the morning of our baby's birthday ready to assist but with just the energy that I would need. I would say I'm more mellow and less high energy personality-wise, and she met me at that level. What I love about Erin and I'm sure midwifery care in general is that everything is on an informed consent basis. She always asked me rather than forced me to do anything. It truly makes you feel empowered about your birth and not tossed around like you're just a patient. The next few hours consisted of checking on me and baby, the assistant midwife Joselle arriving, them filling up the pool, my water breaking over the toilet, laboring/trying to push in the tub, appreciating the suggestions Erin gave that helped me move forward in the pushing stage, and then after much time and depleted but determined effort on my part, meeting my beautiful daughter. In the moment there were so many times I felt like I couldn't keep going, but she and Joselle really helped me push through into the end and helped assist as needed through the last stages. We didn't know the gender until birth, and she made sure that we had full control over that process. It was such an amazing moment. As a first time mom, I listened to and read many birth and homebirth stories to prepare, but you really just don't know what to expect. I'm so grateful for the experience and being able to accomplish it. It was so incredible and beautiful, and I wouldn't trade it for anything because now I know what I am capable of. I ended up delivering on land, and most of those photos are not suitable for the internet, but I'll share some others. Postpartum care started immediately. They take care of you for as much time as necessary and make sure you are all settled in the moments after having your child. It truly was a great transition to motherhood. She's already visited us a couple times to check on me and our daughter. Nothing compares to this sort of treatment and care. You surely won't get this personalized care from your provider in a hospital. We are so happy we chose Erin as our midwife for this miraculous experience, and we surely will be using her next time we embark on this journey again. Thank you, Erin!

Erin is an amazing midwife! I'm so lucky to have been able to work with her during my pregnancy and…read morethe birth of my son. I contacted her when I was already four months pregnant, which is apparently pretty late because you need to retain midwives very early in a pregnancy, but she had one last available spot during my birth month. She answered all of my questions during an initial interview and I immediately felt comfortable with her, and confident that my son and I would be in good hands. I had handled my care through Kaiser up to that point but switched to Erin shortly thereafter. We had regular appointments each month throughout the pregnancy where she came to my house, and more often closer to the birth. She spent at least an hour with me during each appointment and I felt like I had much more personal care than when I was at Kaiser where I saw someone different at every single appointment. I don't have much to say about the labor and delivery because I went through the birthing process unexpectedly quickly, with the help of my doula who is my sister-in-law, and Erin only arrived in time to see my son's head being born. Thankfully, her instincts had told her to leave for my house sooner rather than later so she arrived before he was technically born, but if she had waited, expecting the delivery to take as long as the typical first birth, she would have been too late. All of the care after the birth was great. She took care of my son, checking to make sure everything was fine, and checked me as well. It felt like a much more intimate experience, as it should be, than what I assume hospital births are like. Erin also cared for us through the next few weeks after the birth. My husband had been skeptical about a home birth compared to a hospital birth from the beginning but he was incredibly impressed with the whole process as well, and now highly recommends the home birth process to anyone who asks. My doula/sister-in-law had home births with another midwife years ago, so she was familiar with the process, also since she's now a doula, and told me that she was impressed with Erin's professionalism and knowledge. My little family is very lucky to have found her and if I have another baby, I will definitely contact Erin right away to start the midwifery process earlier.

She was referred to me from a friend, yet I still did my own research and interviewed a few other midwives before committing and I felt like she was the best fit. Each prenatal visit was at least an hour long - she gave me time to ask my questions and never made me feel silly or brushed me off. Having no previous exposure to a home birth, I had a lot of questions yet she answered them all gracefully and in great detail - giving my the confidence I needed to believe in myself that I could do this and that it is safe. Also included in the package was a prenatal massage around 36 weeks and when I tell you it was the best massage in my life - you have to believe me! It was amazing! That hour flew by and I was ready to book another one When I went into labor, I waited until almost the last minute to tell anyone, just to be sure it was the real thing. Well, it was the real thing and it was go time by the time my husband got home from work and Heather arrived. But she didn't waste any time, she jumped in and gave me the encouragement and reassurance I needed to get through transition and birth my baby girl. She was so amazing and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. My 3 year old was there and Heather included her in everything and never pushed her out of the way. Even though I was almost pushing as she walked through the door, she still handled everything with such a calmness and peacefulness that it made that crazy intense last part of birth go so perfectly. If I decide to have baby number 3, a home birth will definitely be my preferred route and Heather would be at the top of my list of midwives (but I would give a longer heads up next time ).

My…read moremother had passed away just one year earlier, and as a 38-year-old first-time mom, I felt lost without her guidance. I remember sharing that with Chavah early in my pregnancy, and from that moment on, she cared for me with a level of compassion and sensitivity that I will never forget. Before I even chose a midwife, I prayed for guidance. Then I opened Yelp, and Chavah was the very first midwife I called. After speaking with her on the phone, I didn't search any further. Looking back now, five months postpartum, I truly know she was an answer to my prayer. Chavah cared for us from the very beginning of my pregnancy--around three months along--through birth and into those precious first weeks postpartum. Throughout every appointment, she was wise, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to educate us, answer our endless first-time-parent questions, and guide us through each stage with confidence and reassurance. One thing that especially touched us was her willingness to go above and beyond when life threw us an unexpected curveball. Midway through my pregnancy, my husband and I had to relocate, moving about 70 miles away. Most people would have understandably referred us elsewhere, but Chavah generously agreed to keep us on as clients. We were so grateful. Those extra miles meant more to us than she probably realizes. Our pregnancy was healthy and uncomplicated. The only bump in the road was that I needed an iron boost, and Chavah quickly connected us with excellent care for a couple of iron transfusions. Her experience and attentiveness gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands every step of the way. When it came time to give birth, Chavah was absolutely amazing. She created an environment where I felt informed, supported, and in control. Well... as much control as a woman can feel while temporarily visiting another dimension during contractions. Thankfully, our son had places to be and arrived after just five hours of active labor, making his debut before lunchtime. Today, we are five months postpartum and have a healthy, thriving baby boy. I've intentionally taken my time writing this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on our experience and express just how grateful we are. Chavah brought wisdom when I needed guidance, encouragement when I felt uncertain, and compassion when I was grieving. She cared for not only my physical health, but my emotional well-being too. I honestly cannot imagine a better midwife experience. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I would choose Chavah again without hesitation. Knowing she would be part of our care would bring immediate peace of mind. Thank you, Chavah, for everything you did for our family--and for so much more than was ever required. We will always be grateful.
