I hired grade potential for some math tutoring for my son. I hired them by calling them and…read morearranging for the tutoring over the phone. No commitment, package or contract was discussed. There was no contract sent or signed. It was just supposed to be tutoring at an hourly rate of $59/ hour, based on an oral conversation over the phone. My son received tutoring inconsistently, on an as needed basis, which we arranged directly with the tutor. Grade Potential was billing me $216 twice a month. I called and told them as soon as I noticed these recurring charges that my son wasn't getting that much tutoring each month and why were they billing me like that. The guy said I could pause the billing, he would issue a partial refund, and I would have 12.5 "banked hours" of tutoring that had already been paid for that I could use before I would be charged again. This was documented in an email, which I provided. They issued the partial refund and tutoring was paused for the summer In Fall 2024, my son started getting the tutoring again. Instead of using my 12.5 "banked hours" that I had already paid for in the previous school year, they just started charging my card again- $216 twice a month. I called again, the woman was extremely rude. She kept insisting I had a "package" and they were going to charge me whether I used the services or not. I told her about the previous communication, that I had banked hours and was told no charges were supposed to be made to my card until those hours were used up. She refused to issue a refund and they've continued to bill me ever since. I've sent multiple emails telling them they are not authorized to charge my credit card. They keep charging me. At this point they have charged me $4104 in improper charges. They are not responding to my emails. This is complete fraud. My son hasn't revived any tutoring and they continue to bill me!

I have a grandchild who I wanted to have tutored since he is outgrowing the current curriculum he is receiving. My daughter contacted Grade Potential and I signed up for their services. Scheduling was difficult as a result of not being able to accommodate our schedule and illness on the part of the tutor (no fault on anyones part). A month after signing up no sessions were completed. I opted to keep my grandson in the other program since he was getting deep into the subject matter at hand. I contacted Grade Potential and explained my issues asking that efforts to schedule be discontinued. I spoke with Cecilia who was very kind and understanding. She explained that she would process a refund for two payments since the second payment had already been charged. She asked that I not attempt to resolve the issue through the CC company since I would be reimbursed within 3-4 business days. It only took 3 days and charge was reversed on my CC. Unlike many businesses that take 7-10 days! This experience was reminiscent of customer service of years gone by. Cecilia was not only very professional but was also empathetic. Should I ever need services for any of my grandchildren I will definitely use Grade Potential services.

She presented him with an amazing range of options (like online summer courses in entrepreneurship) which he enjoyed, looked impressive, aligned with his admission "narrative", and which we frankly would never have found without her. Finally, she was invaluable in compiling everything into the applications themselves and invested a ton in making each one as good as possible. This included essay ideation, rough draft reviews, and went all the way through to line edits with us of every final essay and application. I think I'm a pretty good writer, but the input and help that Jennifer provided my son was far beyond my expectations and much better than what I could offer. I believe that her effort, expertise, and attention to detail significantly increased the number of acceptances and options that my son ended up with. Throughout this, Jennifer was patient, persistent, encouraging, and comforting during a period when I know my son was stressed about both the admissions process and also moving into this new phase of life. My daughter was diagnosed as having dyslexia in the 4th grade. I knew that she also needed extra support at home that I was not able to provide. I went to Sylvan and Kumon which provided me with conflicting reports from the school district. I finally had my own neuro - psychological report which took place over a few days which helped me to understand how to work with my daughter, but I still needed a education therapist. I went to Linda Mood Bell (recommended by psychologist) and paid for an expensive assessment as it is required for their program. I still did not feel comfortable as I knew that my daughter needed remediation before cognitive training. It seemed too much torture to have her there 5 days a week for 4 hours a day over the summer. I could not commit to spending a small fortune on something that I was not sure of and that was not customized to her needs. It was very stressful. It was then that I started to research private school specialized in learning difficulties and dyslexia. I visited Charles Armstrong and Los Altos Christian School....just to name a few...but I could not wait to apply for the next year or be on a wait list. Through research I knew that my daughter needed education therapy by someone who was trained in Slingerland methods. I did research online and found the Wunderling Learning Center through the Slingerland Institute site. My husand and I visited Ruthie who has extensive experience tutoring children with learning difficutlies. I felt at ease with her and confident in her abilities. She explained an ideal plan to work with my daughter which included assessments based on her observations working her as well as specific testing. Most of all we needed someone we could trust to work with our child. My husband and I decided to start off with 2 days a week of education therapy after school and started in July 2007. For the past several months Ruthie has helped us to work with our daughter at home, provided specific strategies to to address her learning issues and keeping focused. She has helped me through my daughters meltdowns over math and language arts. Ruthie has a talent to work with children and is commited to education. She also continues her education to provide additional services to her clients. She is now a PACE certified instructor and has added this as another tool to work with my daughter. It is February 2008 and my daugher got a 97% on her science test and has mainstreamed into a regular Math class. This is huge difference from last summer and my husband and I are very proud. We will continue with the education therapy with Ruthie. Do your research before making a commitment to put your child in any program. Many of the cookie cutter programs may try to take advantage of your need to provide for your child.

I have seen remarkable changes in one of my children in relation to his test results - from a child that was average to a child that is now getting A's and B's on most of his tests.
