Overall, the…read moreteaching quality is solid, with a few outstanding instructors whose sessions fill up SO quickly. Because those high-demand teachers are often requested a week in advance, it can be difficult to book them last minute. Most teachers are good and will ensure you understand the material, especially if you come prepared with specific questions. With the strongest instructors, you're thoroughly covered. They make sure their explanations are clear and detailed, and they check for understanding. With the less effective teachers, you may need to advocate for yourself more and do additional work independently to get your doubts resolved. Math instruction here is a particular strength!!Shout-out to my goat Victor, his guidance helped me ace a Pre-Calculus test I was convinced I was going to die during. On SAT prep specifically: after attending both Elite and C2 bootcamps, I personally no longer believe SAT prep courses are even worth it. just get good at desmos bro, you don't need to even know math to do well (as someone who scored 1500). If you are set on doing a bootcamp however, C2 was by far the better experience between the two. For college applications, I would not recommend spending your hours here. While they offer college-app help, in my experience they're not especially attuned to what admissions offices prioritize, nor do they try to research it at all. You'll likely get more value from the excellent (and free) resources available on YouTube. That said, their writing + ELA support for school is fine so dw about that. MADE coffee is almost right next door and I love getting coffee before I go in Saturday mornings, that is a mega plus. overall, I really like coming here and it has saved my butt multiple times. the community of it all is wonderful and they make you feel encouraged no matter what. I'm someone who has to engage with a topic multiple times to understand something, so often I feel pretty stupid when I go to other places for tutoring help, but I never feel like that at all here! I feel safer to ask questions I would feel stupid for asking at other places. edit: a lot of my experience with this place has been during the summer before senior year, and I've heard that the vibe at C2 is a lot different during summers, so that should be something to note

At the beginning, we were invited to a group chat with teachers and staff, where responses were prompt and communication felt excellent - a major reason we chose the program. Regrettably, this responsiveness faded after a few months, with far more messages left unread or ignored than addressed. Additionally, we received no detailed academic updates about my son's progress throughout his entire time there. Teachers barely greeted you when picking up a child. Maybe this is the norm, but as a Korean mom who attended Korean hagwons (after school programs) before, in addition to being a teacher at an after-school program myself for five years in the past, this felt a bit rude and very unwelcoming. My son can have challenging behaviors, something I was transparent about from day one. I do appreciate that the staff worked with him over the months. However, after his dismissal in April, the lack of communication became especially concerning. I have followed up multiple times about the prorated refund for the unused portion of April's tuition and clarification on the refundable status of the enrollment deposit. Despite this, Grace, the program manager, has not responded since April. I gave her two months before writing this review. Additionally, when I directly asked Grace whether news of his dismissal had been shared with other parents, she assured me it had not. That said, I have since sensed uncomfortable vibes from certain parents whose children are in the same class, leading me to wonder if information was shared after all (my gut feeling tells me it has, because what are the chances? Timing is too coincidental). Regardless of the reason for dismissal, families deserve transparent billing, timely financial resolution, and basic professional courtesy. Being left in the dark after months is both surprising and disheartening. This has been a very negative, unwelcoming, and unprofessional experience. This place cannot be trusted. I would strongly advise other families to look elsewhere.

My 2nd and 3rd grader love the friendly environment where they are able to get help with their homework and make new friends from different schools. Learning Tree definitely prioritizes safety and really worked with us to address our children's specific needs. I have noticed a positive change in their behavior and they are more motivated and excited to learn ever since they started.

They were put into a mixed group and given work; entries to read, analyze, and then write about. The reason for my review all these years later is to share that as a mother who wanted to afford my children stimulation for growth, BLC is NOT a fit for younger children. This program is for older kids. Jennifer Dinh-Avila either had no understanding of what her program is capable of offering or didn't care. She should have. I too as their caregiver shouldn't have been fooled by her reports and feedback. How can a 6 y/o child sit and learn for hours on end? The motivation for this review years later is to save a child(ren) , a mother, a family from the mistake I made. Please notice, the pictures and testimonials are from older children. Jennifer, hopefully this is eye opening for you as we can all learn from this and take it as a win.

He helped me with my homework and taught me concepts I didn't understand from school. Along with that, he prepared me for quizzes and exams by providing extra practice- even practice he created himself so it would coincide with my teacher's testing. Now I am taking my nephews to Breakthrough and they are enjoying and thriving in their academics. They have been going the last two years, now in 3rd and 6th grade. They do their homework there and some supplemental work to advance in both their math and writing skills. When I talk to them about, they only have positive things to say about their teachers. Environment is great for all levels and it seems like Mrs. Jen, the director, is very involved with their curriculums and providing extra support for the kids. I know that when I needed extra help back then, Mr. Avila and Mrs. Jen always took extra time to help me succeed in my classes. Definitely recommend Breakthrough to other families.

I've always said, you can find 1,000 reviews on a hot dog, but something as important as education…read morerarely gets yelp reviews. Well I'd like to take a break from Hot Dog writing for a moment and tell you about Eye Level. Last year when my daughter was finishing 2nd grade, I felt the school had met their common core goals by mid April and was just sitting out the clock until June. Homework stopped coming home and days were wasted. My friend had been sending his daughter to Eye Level in Huntington Beach for over a year and was very happy with the results between public school and Eye Level once a week. He did all the research into Kumon vs Eye Level and from what I understand the biggest difference is the teacher involvement. This Anaheim Hills Eye Level location is very well run by a friendly lady named Chris. Chris did a placement exam with my daughter for over an hour, then explained what areas she needed more work on. The biggest complaint I have about common core in the public school, is that they kind of just check the box when a kid passes a test and move on, assuming the child will retain that passed skill forever without practicing it again. Well the brain doesn't work like that, you need constant repetition or you'll forget. Eye Level workbooks provide plenty of practice on skills until they have truly mastered them. Each kid works at their own pace and class size is small (usually no more than 5) so they can get plenty of help from the teacher when necessary. The teachers are adults and have teaching experience in their subjects, so you won't get any part time high school students here. Each kid gets a backpack and folder to keep their homework in, so as to keep it separate from regular school. The homework assignments are geared for them to be able to do it by themselves. As such, I never have to fight with my daughter about doing her homework. The parent is asked to look over it, but not correct it. Any mistakes will be corrected in class that way the Eye Level teachers know what the kid needs more work on. I've had a few other parents ask me, why pay for Eye Level, when you can find similar teaching resources online and work with your kids at home. Well, when my wife and I have to teach our daughter, it's World War III. She fights us over everything. We are her parents and it's hard for her to see us as anything but the person who she never wants to be wrong in front of. Thus we have conflict. But she seems to be very polite to her teachers at Eye Level, and willing to take instruction from them. Now that we've started 3rd grade, I can tell that my daughter came in ahead of the game and is easily doing her multiplication and division, while some of the other kids are struggling with it. Chris knew that would be a key area of the common core for 3rd grade and spent plenty of time working on it this summer. It seems to have paid off. Chris has done a nice job making the Eye Level group seem like a community. She often plans fun nights, where on Friday night the kids will come in for pizza and games, while the parents can use it to grab some dinner and make a date night out of it. It's win/ win and my daughter always wants to go. We've been doing Math and English class every week for 6 months now, and are very happy with Eye Level. I also believe it has given my daughter some extra confidence that she will do well in school.

Coach Asha helped me get together my interp events pretty last minute and I managed to qualify top 15 in California for nationals or NSDA (with a main event of dramatic interpretation). Also, throughout the season I got some specific technical feedback from Coach Shante which really helped me hone in my performance. While Coach Chris helped me get my DI up early in the season which led to me placing fourth at Peninsula. Additionally, Coach Janiel is mostly always at tournaments and gives a killer warm-up that really energizes me and my peers as well as give us a confidence boost admits the inevitable nerves. Furthermore, Coach Forrest and Coach Anna are really good with the younger students as they helped laid a solid foundation for my speech and debate skills going forward. I really started learning public speaking starting with them! And Coach Robert is great at platform events and is extremely detailed in his feedback. In addition, there are Coaches Kavya and Christine that I heard great things about from other peers but haven't worked with them too personally. With QD Learning I've been able to travel to Minneapolis for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions and Arizona for the National Speech and Debate Association/ Competition as well as local tournaments around the area. In anyways I totally recommend them and have won a lot more tournaments than mentioned. However, the most special part about the QD Learning is the amazing process and journey that it takes you through as you make lifelong connections and work with amazing national champion coaches that take the time to understand your needs.
