I wanted to find a company who is relatively local (i.e., support my community). The first company I called, a very reputable one (who shall remain nameless), called me back and told me that due to just how dead the tree was, they would not take the job. Too much liability they said. I was surprised because I was thinking "Don't MOST tree removals involve trees that are pretty dead?". I asked this company what I should do now, and they said just to keep calling people until someone said yes. So, my next step was to go to Yelp. Thank goodness for Yelp! On 22 October, I get on Yelp and happened upon Hedy's review of All American - which was written just the day before! I called All American and Maggie answered the phone. She told me she believed All American can do the job and told me that Matt and Mike will come by my house to look at the tree within a day. Sure enough, Matt and Mike showed up in less than 24 hours. They figured out what needed to be done and gave me a reasonable quote on the spot. Two days later, Matt, Mike and two more guys showed up with a massive crane, a big truck and chainsaws. Like surgeons, the crew removed the tree piece by piece. What was impressive was not only the big machines, trucks and chainsaws, but also their attention to how to do the job safely and intelligently. Two days later, Tony came in to grind up the stump. I don't foresee having any tree issues in the near future (well ... I hope not). But if I did I'd just go straight to All American Lawn and Tree Service - a very experienced, competent, hard-working crew who also happen to provide great customer service (i.e., the little things like answering the phone, answering my nit-picky questions, etc.). I had asked them to take down half of one tree (with 2 large trunks), but they advised to just trim several of the branches from one side to make sure we kept the tree alive, which made perfect sense. They were referred to me and were able to give me a fair price and got the work done in the same day. I had called several companies and All American was the clear choice. Mike and Matt are top notch and do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. They even came back to take down one more tree limb that I forgot to point out to them. To my surprise, he answered the phone although I called them very late at night. They came first thing in the morning (8AM)! Bill's team worked fast, and most importantly handled the removal with care to avoid further damage to my car. Took them no time to clean up, by the time they were done there was no trace of a tree falling on my car. They even cleaned the debris from the sidewalk and the parking lot. His price also included removing a dead oak tree I and a mulberry tree and he offered to do it the next day. However due to my schedule and the rain over the weekend his crew had it done before I came home from work on Monday. The removal was as close to the ground as you could get. The clean up was great and I couldn't be happier with the work. This is my second time using Bill's services and he has exceeded my expectations both times. I called Genesis at around noon on Friday, spoke with the receptionist, and within a half hour Pedro returned my call. He was 45 minutes away and said he'd be right down to give me a quote. He showed up and gave me a fair quote, especially given my time constraints. We scheduled to have the work done Sunday. However, Saturday morning he called and said he could fit me in. Pedro and his crew showed up at 930am and were cleaned up and gone by 1130. They trimmed my trees up to about 40 feet clearance and removed an enormous amount of dead branches and debris. It looks 100x times better. I highly recommend Pedro and his crew. They were responsive, prompt, professional, and did excellent work.

After reviewing the work, he was able to give me a quote on the spot and followed up next day with an itemized proposal by email with the quote. He was able to squeeze in the work within the next couple of business days as I needed the work done quickly before my new tenants moved in. He estimated the work to take about 6-7 hours and it took a little longer. It took 7.5 hours with the cleanup. It was a hot, sweltering day but he was very professional and worked without complaint! I said honest earlier because I asked him if there was any hail damage. He said "no", while I've had others tell me that I had damage.
