Had some issues with the firewood they delivered but we worked it out and I am satisfied enough.

Well, they outdid themselves again. We got them to cut down another tree, and there were more saplings below it that they had to watch out for. They didn't harm any of them! Their cleanup was wonderful! We asked them to throw in about 15 stumps we had been putting off grinding. They ground them and cleaned up all the debris. I wanted a little more debris cleaned up, and they did it very willingly. They are all very patient, kind, and hard working! I even got to meet a couple more of the crew and they were just as nice as the rest of them! Thanks again to John D., John T., David T., Melvin, Andres, Zack, Josh, Travis, and Charles. This crew is very professional, affordable and polite. We had them here yesterday to remove a pine tree that was close to the house and to prune 2 mature trees (a Silver Maple and a River Birch). We met them when a very polite representative knocked on the door and asked if we'd like any tree or yard or outside house work done. We really could not afford to have anything done, but since the crew member was so polite, I walked out with him to see what he was recommending and to get an idea of what it would cost when we were better able to afford it. He was very knowledgeable himself and I was impressed by that and his continued good manners. After making some recommendations for the 3 trees, he had the owner of the business, John Dyer, quote us for the work. It made sense that he could offer us a better price since his crew was one street over doing work and they had a job here the following morning as well. We are in Lake Ridge and they are centered in Fairfax County. My husband and I did not decide to go forward in time for that day, so we called for the next day (Sunday). The (huge!) crew arrived on time and got right to work. They have a lot of equipment and 8 to 10 in the crew. 3 guys with proper safety equipment and ground crew coverage got up in the trees with their chain saws and very efficiently handled the trimming and thinning (and downing, in the case of the pine). They ground the stump of the pine and removed all of the downed pine and the trimmings from the other 2 trees. They chipped the smaller stuff and hauled away the bigger wood. The yard was left perfectly clean and the trees are gorgeous. They are now nicely formed and more open. While here they picked up a job for our next-door neighbor doing some work in very high pine trees and a huge tree that was over-hanging their roof. They did a great job there and she was very pleased. We have been neighbors for more than 12 years and have both used other services at least 3 times and have never been as pleased as with this company. It sounds sappy, but it was really a pleasure watching these guys work. They functioned start to finish as a kind of arboreal ballet.(I know - 'a well-oiled machine' is more masculine!) I found Dyer Tree Service via Home Advisor after my scheduled tree person no showed on me. I wasn't expecting such a quick response and availability to fit me in immediately after they finished their current job. They showed up when they said they would with 1/2 their crew and got my entire back yard cleaned up- everything but the tall trees is done. I was so impressed with their speed, professionalism, and thorough clean up of the job. I will definitely use again and recommend to anyone needing great service! read more

Hired them in February to do stumps, did not finish the job, said the ground was to wet, needed to wait till the ground dried out, called them at least twelve times, return only two calls, said that they were very busy, I said that's great, but I had paid them in full, for this job, I advise anyone considering on hiring them to not pay them until the complete job is done! ! ! read more

His crew was doing tree work on a neighbors yard and when complete I had them do some work on my yard. I needed tree trimming throughout yard along with removal of one tree stump and other yard work. They quoted a low decent price but did not clean up all work and forgot to trim some trees, left some trees with tall limbs they forgot to trim, and did not remove stump. They were paid midway through and I believe they decided to quit working once paid. I tried to contact them for several weeks after they left job with no answer, finally they returned call 2 weeks later and said they were coming out to complete job. They never did, this was in summer of 2016. They have yet to contact me or try to make good on the job that was never completed. I had another company complete this year. I do not reccomend their services. If you do hire them make sure to review all work before you pay them to make sure its completed to your standards. They also do not answer or pick up calls to them once they leave your house after payment. Their business card states "My future depends on your happiness!" On it, well I'm definately not happy with their services. I guess you get what you pay for, the low great price was too good to be true. Don't bother with them hire another tree service company for your needs even if cost more you will happier in the long run. read more

So, I am going to try to recreate my original review. I was having property line issues with my townhouse neighbor. LONG story short, I hired Dyer to come out and cut a bush in half, including the roots (pics posted earlier). They did that and it looked like a job well done. I was charged $300, which I thought was a lot, but I paid it. A few days later I realized there was still a root that should have been cut. I called Dyer Tree Service and left a voicemail asking them to come back. After not hearing back after a week, I wrote my review. A few days after that John called me, upset about the review. He told me he never received my VM and that he would refund me $100 if I took down my review. That was a great compromise since the neighbors had the rest of the bush removed. Here it is, almost 2 weeks later and no refund. So, I stand by my original review when I stated, I will not recommend this company. ALWAYS get more than one estimate! read more

Had a tree come down in my yard from winds created by the storm Sunday night 4/14/19. I was out of town, i called the next day and left a message. John returned my call promptly, was courteous, professional and able to meet the next day to appraise my situation. I was close enough to drive home and make the meet. He arrived with a small team to check out this very old 80-90 ft tree that had come down, fortunately missing my home. In addition, i had a much larger tree that had the future potential of coming down right through the middle of my home, effectively destroying it. His teams schedule was clear and they were able to remove the downed tree, the larger homewrecker and an adjacent tree that same day at a great solid price, leaving me able to get back to my vacation. There was a huge team there and they worked fast with a fearless climber bringing some huge sections down with ease. read more

Dyer's Tree Service was hired to remove two small trees and trim several trees on my Parent's property. John M. Dyer arrived the day before, and provided a verbal quote of $3k. The next day, John and a crew of 8 men arrived late, (giving no apology for the delay), and proceeded to rush through the job, which took them approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete. They did not come prepared, and had to borrow a ladder from a next door neighbor. In the middle of the job, one of the worker's was overheard saying, "I just want to get this done and get the f*ck out of here." Some of the workers trampled on the flower beds, and dragged branches over the roof and gutter, after cutting, instead of tossing the cut branches onto the ground. This could have potentially caused damage to the shingles or gutters. During cleanup, they used a shovel, instead of a rake, to remove the branches and leaves from the driveway. As a result of shoveling the debris into the truck, they removed needed gravel from the driveway. Prior to completion of the job, John advised that there was an additional tree they had to trim, which increased his original verbal quote by $700. When the job was complete, John and crew were in a rush to leave, so John was provided a check for $3,700. After they left, there was still tree debris throughout various places in the yard, which had to be removed by the homeowner; trampled flowers; ruts in driveway where gravel had been removed; and tree limbs/branches, which had been overlooked and not cut down. As a result of Dyer's Tree Service's late arrival; failure to provide a written quote; unprofessional attitude while performing the job; failure to complete the job to the customer's satisfaction, and failure to provide an accurate quote, we do not recommend this company to anyone seeking tree service. read more

There seems to be some confusion on the net with John Dyer. All I know is that John M. Dyer Complete Tree Services quoted us at least 300 less than others, came with a huge crew of at least 12 people, did a great job taking the tree down and grinding the stump, cleaned everything up and all in about an hour!!! Not always a good idea to take a service who are "working in your area", but in this case they were actually doing a large number of jobs that I could check out, and their quote was perfect for us. They sometimes get confused with a scammer who has little equipment and does a poor job. Their climber was amazing and a huge tree and trimmings from other trees was cleaned up. They also had a long way to walk with all the pieces but the cleaned up after themselves. read more
