Ixtapa is great! A smaller, more intimate restaurant "almost" outside of town. The atmosphere is pretty quiet and a lot more cozy than the other Mexican place in town. Parking is a little tricky sometimes, but otherwise a great place! The salsa Verde dishes are amazing! read more

I ate here for the first time and asked a couple waiters what was their favorite dish. Then I chose the Baja Chicken because it was described with sour cream on top of the grilled onions mushrooms spinach and chicken with a little kick. Lets do positive first. They do have outdoor seating. Which is nice. That's about it. Anyone giving this place a good review has never had good Mexican food. This place is terrible. The service is bad. They don't smile..aren't friendly and the waitress wears waaaayyyy too much perfume you can taste it. The rice is gross and leaves a pool of grease at the bottom of your plate and it tastes like its a week old. The beans are tasteless. The salsa is bad too. Tastes like they use ketchup as a base. It's definitely not fresh. I ordered pork enchiladas and the pork was cubed up and looked and tasted like dog food. I couldn't eat it. Last time we were in, there were ants crawling on our table. I ordered a margarita and it was all mix... I couldn't drink it. I just can't go back. I can cook better Mexican food at home so I'll stick to doing that. read more

They had us with the fresh, crispy chips served with a mild, tasty salsa. Next came the Combo Shrimp Enchiladas served on a large platter with rice and pinto beans. and Arrozcon Pollo, chicken with rice, mushrooms, onions in a zesty sauce. YES, we will have leftovers for lunch. The shrimp enchiladas were some of the best I have tasted. The Arrozcon Pollo is a favorite. Ixtapa is fantastic. Foremost Ophilia and Jaime are wonderful hosts. The staff is quick, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is inviting. Oh yes, the food has us returning 2-3 times a week! Huevos Rancheros, Fajitas, Fajitas burrito, Carnitas and authentic tacos are our favorites but you'll have so many you'll have to choose. A multitude of margaritas and beers to enjoy. One of the better Mexican restaurants around. Food is fresh, hot and tasty. Service was quick. A little inattentive but wasn't bad. Drinks were a good value. Been here several years times and will continue to come back. Only one thing I'd like to see different is just more clarity on some of the ingredients or how the foods prepared. They seem to like Anaheim peppers. I don't. I pick off the menu to avoid and get cranky when I find them. But, I was adventurous this time and picked a new dish. Great Mexican restaurant! I've had the Enchiladas en Mole or the Enchiladas de le Crema, the tomatillo sauce is also very good! Very fast service and the waiters/waitresses that have served us were always amazing! The only issue was one visit, our table could have been cleaner and a fly kept irritating my family. This is the best place in Dallas for Mexican food. Chips and Salsa are so good. Pork Chile Verde is tender chunks of pork in a great chile verde sauce. Have it in a burrito, enchiladas or tacos, they are all wonderful. Rice and beans are delicious too. Staff has been nice as well. We keep coming back and leaving happy. read more

I ordered to go due to COVID-19. All the staff is super friendly, they are handling everything with care. They are taking safety procedures as well as continuing to make great food. This is the first review I've wrote on yelp but I just felt the need to get the word out. This place is fantastic! Clean. Service is always prompt and friendly, by far the best out of the mexican restaurants I've been to. The minute you sit down, here comes a staff member with chips, water, beans, and some very good salsa. The chips are awesome, warm and crisp. And the food. The food. It's perfect. Any mexican restaurant I go to I order the same thing, ceviche de tostada. Their's is a close second to my own homemade ceviche. The ceviche is light, fresh, yet incredibly filling. Ixtapa's is a combination of cod and baby shrimp. It comes on a crisp tostada loaded with veggies. I always put a little of their salsa on top for a nice kick. Ixtapa's magaritas are a great way to wash the meal down with, the kind of magarita that has the right amount of lime taste and sweetness. To end the meal a server brings you a toasted tortilla topped with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yes, ice cream. How awesome is that! It does make for a really nice palette cleanser. There isn't many choices in Dallas, but if you're in the mood for some good food, Ixtapa is the place to go. read more

Good value. Good taco salad for $6.99 (with chips and salsa). Better to spend $6.99 on that than on a fast food value meal. The taco salad had a generous amount of shredded beef and guacamole and I'm glad it has a flour tortilla rather than one of corn. Nice menu selection, including combinations and drinks. *Vegetarian review* Okay, let me start by saying that I ate at one Ixtapa before this in Philomath and had some spinach enchiladas, and they were much too salty. I can forgive that. Too much salt is an easy mistake. On to the Dallas location. Servers were very nice, and the food came out with good timing. There was just one thing that really irked me. I asked the server if their rice was vegetarian, to which he responded, no. I then asked him which rice comes with the vegetarian dishes (as it is a side on all or many of them). He said the regular rice, cooked in chicken broth! I'm not sure if this is a corporate problem or a local problem, but it is a huge oversight. The title of the menu section clearly states, "Vegetarianos." This becomes false if you serve chicken fried rice. The server informed me that white rice was available, but I opted for more beans. I should rate very low stars to bring attention to this disrespectful gesture regarding the rice, but I know someone will get a lot more upset than me about it, just a matter of time. read more
