Dr Cabrera is so chill, even quoting comedienne Ali Wong! I have seen her twice now and have never felt rushed but was also seen in a timely manner (how is this possible?). She makes the process feel very "normal" and even allows you to confide about your personal romantic relationship, which is definitely NOT even her job. Initially, I couldn't get an appointment until 2 months out, but the office called me with a cancellation. I left Dr Cabrera's office with a smile on my phase and more optimistic about the future. Wow! If you are seeking a true caregiver who wants to help you out, who is incredibly patient, kind and understanding, look no further. Over two weeks ago my wife found Dr Cabrera's information in the directory of our insurance company and that her and the office she's associated with, Sutter Health OB/GYN main office, were accepting new patients. We were quite impressed with her background and her 5 star reviews on Yelp. There are some 1 star reviews and they were primarily due to terrible front office support experiences. Well, here's another one. After completing the forms online to transfer my wife's medical records from her previous doctor, it was apparently received by Dr Cabrera's office but we had to call them to confirm. They acknowledged they did received the records but didn't let us know even though they received it 48 hours ago. They then said we should expect a call to set up the first appointment. Nothing happened. That was last week. This week, my wife calls them to follow up on the call that never happened and Debra, said that they actually are not taking any new patients due to the Covid-19 situation. Why didn't she (or they) tell us that last week? So I call back again today and spoke to Debra and had the following questions: * Did they actually receive the transfer records? * Why were we not informed that they were not taking new patients? It took a while to get "non-attitude" answers. So cutting to the chase, Debra, had such poor office/communication etiquette. She comes off irritated, abrupt, and basically non-caring. Definitely not the kind of persona a professional medical office should have representing the group. It's too bad, we were looking forward to having Dr Cabrera as my wife's doctor. She seems like a brilliant, thoughtful, and caring doctor. I'm sure that when Debra, reads this review her attitude will be "whatever", "who cares". So disappointing. read more

I've always appreciated how patient she's been at appointments and how willing she has been to answer questions about anything that may be on my mind. I'm a Birth Doula and have been for 13 years. I recently did a birth with Dr. Cabrera at CPMC and she really impressed me. I've worked with many doctors over the years throughout all major bay area hospitals and she has such a warm bedside manner and is really a patient advocate. However when it came time to make the right call for mom and baby she did that and asserted her position very well for the best call for both mom and baby. In the end a beautiful baby boy was born. Dr. Cabrera is one of those rare finds (we all know how hard it is to find a great doctor). I first met Dr. Cabrera almost 7 years ago when she delivered my daughter. She was not my regular OB but an associate of my OB at the time. I was impressed with how comfortable she made me feel. Fast forward 6 years when I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd child and my regular OB only wanted to focus only on gynecology, I jumped at the chance to have Dr. Cabrera as my doctor. She takes time to listen to me and answer all my questions throughout my pregnancy. Although she didn't deliver my 2nd baby because he arrived when her shift at the hospital was over, she came in and checked on me regularly. She really cares about her patients! read more

Dr Cabrera has great energy and wonderful bedside manner. She really puts you at ease and is clear about options and choices. I would recommend her to a friend. Update: She's delivered both of my babies and she's really amazing! She's low intervention and seems to trust the woman's body more than other doc's. I think she's more comfortable with grey area. I think this saved me from C-sections (since I have big babies) and other doc's would have intervened more. I just love her, I wish we could have coffee! Haha read more

Love Dr. Cabrera. Just had my first baby and was extremely satisfied with the level of care with her being my OB as well as how the office operates, and the CPMC hospital experience. The practice will often offer you a different doctor for certain check-ups depending on schedule so you get to meet the entire practice which I found helpful as I was then familiar with everyone who happened to be on-call the day I delivered as well as the daily follow-up exams in the hospital. Overall everyone is extremely competent, smart, and friendly, but my personality gelled the best with Dr. Cabrera. She's very calm, thorough, and keeps things in perspective when explaining them. I found with some of the other doctors they would raise alarm and jump to "worst case scenario" on things that I didn't feel was necessary and she would later explain and interpret without concern. I'm all for understanding risks just don't want to stress out or read too far into things unless it's absolutely necessary, which in my case it wasn't. She also supported my desires to have minimal interventions which was great. Office-wise I always found the front desk staff helpful and never had a problem with getting through or having my calls returned. They encourage you to schedule a few appointments out since it gets busy which worked well. The lady who manages the insurance was also very responsive although I'd often leave a message and she'd call-back confirming it was complete. This pertained to getting my maternity leave letter sent to my company/insurance as well as submitting a prescription for the breast pump my insurance provides. If you call and need help after-hours they also have a nurse triage line that can review your concerns and help with emergency prescriptions. I had extreme nausea at the beginning of my pregnancy so this was very helpful! Highly recommend both Dr. Cabrera and the office! read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Cabrera. I had a 2nd trimester appendectomy and was seen by her at CPMC, she was wonderful, great bedside manner, easy to talk to, takes time to listen and address your concerns. She is rare find. I am a patient of Dr. Farner but like to see all the docs in this group--since you never know who is going to be at CPMC at the time of delivery. The Doctor was pretty good- I had one appointment. The problem was the office staff did not return calls, I had the a different person's lab requests so I couldn't get my labs done, and although I called numerous times for a second appointment and to get the correct lab form I never got a hold of a staff member. I liked the doctor and felt we could have had a good relationship, but trying to get a hold of her was very stressful so I went with a different office. read more

We met for the first time today and I have to say I was very impressed and so happy to have met such a warm and comforting doctor! I am reaching the end of my second pregnancy and my nerves are starting to kick in about delivery and just how life is about to change. She was so calming and just really made me comfortable. Dr Cabrera is awesome. I'm not a regular patient of hers, but I did meet her the day before my delivery when I went to the hospital for preterm labor. Dr Cabera just puts you at ease. She's informative and not judgmental. She's gentle on the cervical exams-painless in comparison to other docs that have checked me up. After my delivery, she came to visit me everyday, even though I wasn't even her patient. The only bad thing about her practice, as some people have reviewed, are the phones. It's hard getting to talk to a medical assistant and it's frustrating when you have a question, pain or doubts. I think they are working on it though, as I 've noticed new faces at the front desk. The trick is to call the main number and then press 0. You will get a live body instead of the machine. I've left a message on the machine before and never gotten a call back. It wasn't anything critical but it makes you wonder what will happen when times are critical. Regardless, I love Dr. Cabrera. read more

First, Let me say I NEVER even met Dr. Cabrera. I found out I was pregnant in the end of September. I was looking for a new OB/GYN and found Dr. Cabrera through my insurance and here on Yelp. I called to schedule an appointment and the recep took my call and information. I told her I was concerned that I was spotting. The Recep said she would let the Doctor know and have the Doctor call me. She set my appointment for the 8 week mark, about 2 weeks away. Dr. Cabrera did call me later that day and told me what I was experiencing was normal and if it got worse to call back. I called back numerous times, 3 times in fact over the course of about a week. The recep would not let me speak to the doctor. She kept putting me through to the medical assistant line where I left message after message while still the bleeding increased. It got to the point where I called 5 other practices in SF and no one would see me. The cramping increased and I passed a large amount of tissue. I called the Doctor again and again was told to leave a message on the medical assistant line. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. I called a 24 hour nurse line through my insurance and was told I probably had a miscarriage. The bleeding did not stop and the cramping got worse. I finally just went to the ER. I was given an exam, meds for the pain, and an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed nothing in my uterus, but the tech also said she had a hard time seeing anything else on the equipment as she was not used to it. She was not at her "home base" and said the machine was different from hers.. The ultrasound tech said I probably had a miscarriage/ The ER doctor called Dr. Cabrera numerous times and would not let me leave until they spoke to someone. However, the ER doctor still never got a call back. I was finally told to go home with some Norco for the pain and to go see Dr. Cabrera in 2 days to check my HCG levels which were at 992. I again called Dr. Cabrera's office and left a message that I needed an appointment in the next 2 days. I did not receive a call back from Dr. Cabrera. I did, however, receive a call from the ultrasound tech. She said the ER "lost" my ultrasound pics and she wanted me in to her office right away to have another ultrasound done. That same day if possible. I went in to see her that same day. She did another ultrasound and found it. An ECTOPIC. And guess what, I was sent to Dr. Cabrera's office and was told SOMEONE would definitely see me. Finally. Though, it was not even Dr. Cabrera. I have not even heard from her. not since that one first time over a month ago when she said everything sounds normal. Not even an apology for NEVER getting back to me, not seeing me, not doing ANYTHING. Not even for the LOSS. I saw Dr. Joann Kim. And I am writing her review next. I hope this practice NEVER does this to someone again. I could have died. read more

She is highly responsive, extremely knowledgeable, generously helpful, and has a wonderful bedside manner. Over the course of about 8-10 months I visited Dr. Cabrera's office for a pain issue I was having. My first visit she was unable to see me due to an emergency she had at the ER. That's understandable and the office had me see a different MD. The issue was not resolved and I went back to see Dr. Cabrera 3 more times. The creams and medicines she prescribed did not work, in fact made the pain worse. I understand this may happen-she had no idea what was causing the pain and needed to try different approaches. I must say she was very nice, however, everytime I went to see her (and it was more often than a usual pt) I felt like I had to tell my story over again from the beginning because she had no recollection of why I was continually coming to see her. On 2 occasions I ended up in tears due to my frustration of the problem and no answer. She was consoling but the next time I came back to see her I was telling my story over from the beginning again - did she not remember?? Needless to say I really felt like just a number in the office without anyone really trying to help my situation. Long story short I switched doctors and went to pick up my records from Dr. Cabrera's office to take to my new MD. I looked through my records and what I found was shocking. There were 2 pap smear results that came back positive for a virus that puts me at "extremely high risk for cervical cancer". Quoted from the lab reports. Dr. Cabrera never shared this information with me, never discussed it, brought it up or made me aware of this. I was sick to my stomach. This was found over a year ago and I had since seen her twice since those results and she never mentioned a word. I will never ever recommend her as an MD. My new MD said this is ridiculous and this is a serious issue which needs to be monitored very closely. read more

I did not know Dr. Cabrera before the delivery of my baby. Her office covers weekends along with my OB's office, and so I had never met her before I went into labor. I was very anxious about having a new doctor that I hadn't met for my labor and delivery - I had spent months rotating through the OBs in my doctor's office, to ensure I knew everyone before our daughter's birth. Just my luck that I happened to deliver on a weekend that was covered by another office! But I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Dr. Cabrera was great - she helped me have a vaginal birth after ~5 hours of pushing (and talk of a c-section, which I really did not want). And when she came to visit me in recovery over the weekend, she was kind, spent time talking with me and explaining all my questions, and was very emotionally supportive. By this time I had a catheter inserted (aftershocks from a very lengthy delivery) and she was very encouraging and calming. She has a wonderful bedside manner that put me at ease and made me feel like a friend rather than a patient. I feel very fortunate to have had her for the birth of our baby. Dr. Cabrera worked alongside John Fassett (nurse midwife) to deliver my baby (I'm not sure why they were both there) - she was involved in the delivery and gave me the sutures for my tears.
