The chicken shawarma is a masterpiece--spiced perfectly so it's full of flavor without overpowering you. The baba ganoush? Hands down the best I've had anywhere in the country--smoky, creamy, and addictive. And the garlic sauce... I could eat it with just about anything. It's bright, bold, and absolutely unforgettable. We made a stop in Reed City on our way home to Traverse City. We stumbled on this store because we stopped at a business next to it. The owner would not let us leave without sampling his food. Outstanding and so delicious. Now we are going to have to make special trips to Reed City to fulfill our cravings for Middle Eastern cuisine. read more

This is the best up north place to get a swarma sandwich. I can only say it is the most delicious food I have ever tasted! The chicken is tender and moist, the veggies mixed with a little oil, the tahini sauce is so good and the cucumber dressing is the best! All of this served on a toasted pita. Sahir makes the most delicious rice. They also have yummy fried chicken, homemade steak fries, and yummy rice pudding topped off with a dash of cinnamon. They also have a deli, a great selection of wine. So if you are traveling through the Reed City, stop and grab a little taste of the most delicious middle eastern cuisine! We were referred here to try the take out food. VERY good, all of it...can't go wrong.generous portions at a fair price...the Owners and their family are so "gracious", kind and FUN!I highly recommend this stop! That said.... I only "wish" they had a couple bistro tables to "sit' and eat your food entree inside...The reason?Once we drove "home", about 15 minutes away, our "Gyro and Chicken Shawarma pita was "soaked thru the pita bread and the crisp tomato, onion, lettuce and sauce were a mess!....Next time I will "order my sauce and toppings "On the side"...If you "are able to eat in your car(in the parking lot) thats an option...But depending on "what you order, I don't necessarily suggest it"... That said...it's a great place, a "hidden Gem", as there are no "true ethnic food places in Reed city, (or anywhere in the area that surrounds it(lake county, Wexford country, etc) PLEASE consider, putting at least 3 "bistro type tables inside, right around the corner from where you place your oder...I think if "you rearrange the store part...it can happen...Having to drive home 15 to 20 minutes, the food gets cold.You "can't "NUK a gyro...you would have soup, (unless you order(all topping on the side and "then just nut the pita with the sliced meat(or shawarma chicken) which, by the way is fantastic!...so are their green beans and fried chichen tenders! read more

The best gyro I've had in the US. Maybe the best anywhere. The spicy garlic sauce is so delicious, I brought some home. The owners are warm and gracious. The cucumber tomato salad was fresh and delightful. Seriously, this place is incredibly good. Absolutely fantastic middle eastern food. The owner was very friendly and generous with free samples, which is the only reason I tried the baba ganoush--a dish I don't like, or rather, a dish I don't like at other places. The baba ganoush at J and A's is a perfect balance of flavor. The hummus was also the best that I have had anywhere, and the rice pudding was quite a treat.
