I'd be very surprised if you were unable to find something out of the vast array that tickles your fancy. The store is spacious and laid out smartly to avoid feeling cramped or overstimulated. Everything is clearly priced and neatly displayed. We also talked with the owners for a few minutes, and they were super friendly. We were just driving through, so I don't know what else Manistee holds, but if you're in the area, definitely check these guys out.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and had everything we may have needed complete with a microwave, a coffeemaker and mini-fridge. The room may have been their smallest which is likely why it was least expensive, but it had a huge bathroom that was also clean. I let my little boy have the bed and brought a cot to sleep on. It was a little cramped for the two of us with the cot. My only complaint was that our room had access to the room next door and in the evenings the smell from their microwave dinner would waft in. This July I think I'll opt for a larger room, otherwise this was a great spot to stay. I almost buried the lead...they're a stone's throw from the public beach too. We walked over for a late swim the night before we left. This was hugely cool to be right around the corner from the beach. Definitely worth checking into.

It's right on the water and our room has a balcony facing the lake. You can walk to many restaurants and bars. We ventured to the American Legion for sippers and LC Taphouse for dinner. Locally owned restaurant and the food is so fresh and amazing. The motel owners are also local. We were welcomed with warm smiles and check in was smooth and the gift shop was an added bonus. I will definitely stay here again... but for more than a night.

What's up with this skewed mentality. Yelpers like to share and spread theirs experiences to other yelpers, that's all we aim to do with taking photos and sharing in our experiences. And the sales person told me that they didn't carry much beyond XL. She did bring me several shirts, ranging from $50-$70. Only one fit. There were no pants in my size. When I asked about the demand for larger sizes, she said she did not have the demand. I thought that maybe it was because people were embarrassed and/or knew better to ask.

The minute you walk in you're going to be hungry, even if you just ate. The house smoked and cured meats can literally be smelled in the parking lot. DGS has everything from local North Michigan specialities to fresh produce and an array of MI butchery products. The star of the show however is all their house made meats... Sausages, brats, jerky, etc., DSG has it all. Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful... Some of the friendliest people we've met in a while. When we're in the Cadillac area again, we will no doubt make a point to get back to DGS to stock up... Two thumbs up.
