Authentic amazing Jamaican food at jerk city. We went 3…read moretimes, it's was that good. They had me at oxtail, juicy, soft, chewy cartilage, melting fat, delish sauce; served over rice and beans along with steamed veggies. They even play Jamaican music in the dining room. We also tried jerk chicken (spicy! Very tasty), curry goat (delish), stew chicken (was ok) and steamed fish. Fish was Red snapper whole, in light sauce. Very juicy and full of flavor, family approved them all. Best to get the beef patties while you can, it was hot spicy and delish. Good value for the food, and I certainly can't get the taste right. The staff recognized us, only Asians, everyone else is Jamaican. Support your small businesses.

There's alot of mixed reviews for this Jamaican spot so I back and forth about where to find a good…read morelocation on our road trip. It has some good pics so I jumped the gun here. I would say the food is decent and felt hearty like I was eating home cooking. I enjoyed the steamed cabbage with rice and peas very much. The jerk chicken was surprising not that spicy to me, a pretty mild kick. The sweet plaintains mixed perfect with the plate. My Hubs and I shared a large plate for 2 dollars extra you can mix two different meats so he got the curry goat. I tasted a bite and reminded me a lot of meat stew. I'm only giving 3 stars because I was hoping for a higher spice in the chicken (not that it was bad) just ny tolerance must have went up or maybe it's something you need to request. Anyway, that's my fair review.

JR Smoothies is a great spot to get a taste of Jamaica. The restaurant is bright and clean, the…read moreservice is equally as bright and the food does not disappoint. JR also stands out in the area of food presentation. All the meals are neatly presented on the plate which is a sign that someone takes pride in what they are serving. During my time in town my work group and I frequented JR and being the Jamaican in the group I was not disappointed or misrepresented. I had the jerk pork chops and also the brown stewed chicken. Both were good and the signature flavors were present. (I do wish they had regular bone in jerk pork instead of chops). An added bonus was that there is a sit down dining area where you can be served after ordering in. Shout out to Nicki for being a warm host. This business is new and I wish them all the best.

2nd time eating here. This time I had the Brown stewed chicken... I really enjoyed it! I also had…read morethe Curry chicken.... Meh. It was flavorful, but for whatever reason they use sliced white meat instead of whole chicken cut into quarters. I'm sure using whole chickens baked in their Curry sauce would be phenomenal, so I can't really say this was great. It really tasted like curry chicken from a Chinese restaurant. And I still don't get the raw cabbage? Jerk Island on 45st has really spoiled me I guess. Their jerk pork w red beans and rice and cooked cabbage is.... Awesome I feel like they are just playing it safe here or maybe they just need to work on their recipes ? I would go back for the brown stew chicken but that's probably about it.
