The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. No people on call, no answers, or answers of 2pm or next day appointments. (Gotta love that!) We finally found Michael at Big Dawg's and he was able to come to us swiftly. He arrived within the window of time promised. Michael quickly and expertly assessed the situation, diagnosed the problems, and proceeded to share the plan. He had all the parts with him on his truck and had the busted toilet fill valve along with a new shut off valve replaced and working within an hour or so.
