The customer service was lacking. We arrived and stood at the desk. After several minutes, someone…read morefinally decided they should help us and told us to write down the pottery. We plan to paint and that they would set us up. So we walked around, I had not been to paint pottery in about eight years so you could consider me a novice. We found the pieces that we wanted and waited for further instruction. 15 minutes later someone finally decided they should help us again. This is after we stood at the counter, waiting to pay for our item and point out the item that we wanted to paint. At that time we learned we were supposed to pick up the item go sit at a table, and the utensils would be brought to us. We grabbed our items and sat at the table where we had water in a jar and two sponges and a laminated paper with instructions. We then went to pick the paint brushes we thought would fit our project and were told that we needed to select our own paints. No instruction on how to select the paint, luckily my sister, who is with me, helped me figure out what to grab, and how much I could grab. With what I painted, I required more paint, but the three women were so enthralled in a conversation with a gentleman at the counter, they did not come check on us to see what we needed. I finally said loudly excuse me can I get some help and someone came over. This young girl came over and offered to bring me more paint after I explained. I ran out of paint and did not know what to do with the empty paint container because none of it was explained to me and my sister decided to go get me more paint. After the young girl walked away I heard her say this is not my job. Terrible customer service! Also, no one explained to me the process of the painting, again novice at this, and I wasn't sure if I cleaned my brush on the sponges or use the water. When we were finally done with our paintings, we sat wondering what to do next. My sister decided she would stay at the table in case we did not need to bring our painted work to the front and I went to the front counter to let them know we were done. The woman said you were supposed to bring it up to the counter and pay for it now. Thanks for more instruction that you never gave, but apparently I was supposed to know. This was a terrible experience. If I could give zero stars, that's probably what I would give.

I absolutely LOVED my visit to the Columbia Museum of Art! It might not be the Louvre or the Met,…read morebut for a city the size of Columbia, I don't know if it's possible to craft and curate a better art museum. They had such a great collection, replete with amazing religious artwork, postmodernist works, artifacts from ancient China, and... a work from Claude Monet! As someone who's a huge fan of Impressionism, the fact that a piece from Claude Monet is sitting in Columbia is simply amazing. Kudos to the CMA for being able to procure this painting, and I hope that it remains at the museum in perpetuity.  In terms of the lesser-known works, they had a really cool exhibit from a local artist (well, from Spartanburg, which I'll consider "local",) which detailed the ever-increasing melding of technology and humanity. The exhibit displayed what was essentially a set of bronze busts that served as a combination of human and robot heads, with which the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI,) is as important and prescient as ever.  Finally, they had a cool section for kids called "The Cross Hatch," where kids could experiment and learn about the different art techniques in a fun and interactive environment. In addition, when I walked into the museum, they were setting up for a corporate event, and I was told by the gentleman working the front desk that the museum also serves as an event venue for all sorts of different occasions.  The only, very very *very* minor complaint that I have is that the downstairs rooms were closed, as they were busy setting up a new exhibit. Of course, I understand that the rooms have to be closed in order to set up a new exhibit, I just wish that they weren't closed when I happened to visit. Lol.  All-in-all, the Columbia Museum of Art is an amazing art museum, I'd recommend that anybody pay it a visit, and I hope that it's around for a long, long time!

Bill Lorick, his wife and both boys have a role in the store and they're all great to deal with. The work is custom and absolutely worth the price, which has always been very fair. They often have prints on sale in the showroom and it's great to see them out at Soda City downtown on the weekends.

My daughter had come to this store a few years ago and had told me about it but I had never been. On my way coming here, I passed by what I later found out was their old location. When you enter this store, you see the vast mask, clothing, decorations, scents, and all things that you might find to be a hard find, you will more than likely find it here. We spoke with the owner and he shared with us that it was his wife's idea, and that he "just moves things around in the store", lol! He was very pleasant and he shared with us that they also do spoken word there on certain days. If you are looking for quality items, please stop by here! The prices correlate with the quality! So please don't think that you will pay $10 for a Dashiki! This is a high quality store! I love it!
