When we moved into our new home, the exterior paint was very dark and drab and my husband and I knew we wanted to bring some character back to the space. It's our first home we've owned, so we weren't sure what to expect, but from our first call to Jill in the office, it was super easy to set up a consultation with Joe that was very helpful and informative. The quote felt reasonable and he gave us a recommendation for a paint company to start looking at colors. They are busy and booked, so it was about 4-6 weeks before we could get them out to paint - which was great so we had time to decide on colors. Every step of the process was superlative. They are a Diamond Certified Company so I expected them to be pricey, but they came in as the low bid; just 1/2 of some of the other bids. Joe and Jill are great. Joe did the estimate and explained in detail what was to be expected. Everyone involved was stellar. Hats off to Marlin who did the pressure washing and to William, the foreman. They did such a great job when they painted the house 16 years ago that I was already inclined towards them and when they came in low bid it was a no brainer. I have had J&J Finalcoat Painting paint our house exterior twice, repaint a portion of our house exterior after construction repairs and last month paint our kitchen cabinets. Why hire them? Because they are a Diamond Certified Company that provides the service and customer support that is required to become listed as Diamond Certified. It is a philosophy of contractor-customer relation that I want - no hassle. A little more expensive, perhaps but they back up their work. I had one occasion where the house paint didn't adhere after three years and they came back and sanded and repainted the affected areas (they support their work for five years). We were tired of our 20 year old kitchen and decided to have our kitchen cabinets painted rather than replaced. I was pleased that they don't just paint houses. J&Js cabinet painting includes removing the doors and drawer front and taking them to their paint shop to be spray painted were they spray paint the doors and drawer fronts with a primer and two coats of finish paint. The cabinet frames were brush painted with one coat of undercoating and two coats of finish paint as were the kitchen walls and ceiling. The kitchen walls, ceiling and cabinet frames were washed with TSP. I had them re-clean certain areas again with a stronger cleaner because the TSP didn't remove all the grease that had built up. The cabinet frames were sanded in the areas where the old finish had been warn off. Caulking between the ceiling and frame was completed as well before painting. I was a concerned that one of their painters who had previously painted our house would have the skills for painting our cabinets. I shouldn't have worried because he proved he had the skills for the finer work. All surfaces were painted with semi-gloss paint. His brush work was consistent and showed no brush strokes and very few mistakes requiring cleanup of transition surfaces. As for the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, J&J did not tell me that they have to drill holes in the frame edges to support them in their painting booth. Inserting screws in the drill holes raises the wood. They didn't sand down the raised edges of the holes before filling them and repainting. So when I noticed this I was pretty upset but I accepted the work because the support holes were drilled in the bottom of the drawer covers and would not be seen or felt. Only one drawer required the edges sanded, holes filled and edge repainted. I hope they change their procedures and notify the client before they submit their work. As for the spray painting I couldn't be happier. No brush work would look as clean. They are beautiful. Check out the photos - the cabinets were painted dark blue and the wall a light blue-gray. The job took four days to complete. I didn't buy into their recommended three-day drying-time so we were careful to give their work a full 30 days before returning to normal use. We recently purchased a house but weren't too fond of the interior wall color so we wanted to change it before moving in. After doing some extensive research online and getting quotes from various companies, we decided to go with J & J. The comments were nothing short of spectacular and our interactions with Joe, Jill, and Shelly were very pleasant. Francisco and Ivan were our painters and they did a fabulous job! They were detailed, neat, and cleanly. A lot of preparation went into their process as they patched the walls, removed the wall plates, laid out drop cloths, and taped the edges with painter's tape and masking paper. Francisco was especially helpful. He pointed out that the bathroom ceilings were painted in a flat finish and suggested we paint them in a satin finish as it more resistant to moisture and easier for wiping. Talk about looking out for their customer! We're so glad to have hired J & J to do this project because it would've definitely taken us longer than the two days that Francisco and Ivan spent painting. J & J Final Coat has now worked their magic for us three times. Originally, they were recommended by a top door and window company and did a terrific job on interior staining of new oak framing. Shortly after that, we called them back to paint the exterior of our one-story house (See my review--4/19/14). Again in 2021, their estimate to re-paint the exterior was fair compared to others. It was a "no-brainer" to re-hire them. We could not be happier. Joe Sabel, owner, treated us like friends from A to Z. He genuinely cared that his painters would enhance our home. In 2014, he had suggested that they could add a frame around a window in our addition, so the windows would all match--an attractive upgrade. Once again this June, we had a great experience with J & J. The talented painters arrived early and prepped with care. The first guy to arrive told me that he remembered working on our house in 2014, evidence of loyalty and experience. They are polite. They treat landscaping respectfully as they place ladders or tilt climbing roses on a trellis. This team has a great work ethic. You may find other painters who can do the job. However, this company earned bonus stars from us. They cleaned up daily. They stayed in touch to make sure we were pleased with their job. A couple of hours before they finished, they asked us to do a walk-through to catch any minor mistakes, so we were happy. (When we did have an earlier color issue that was not their fault, Joe rose to the occasion to resolve it fairly and quickly, as expected.) I can't say enough positive things about this company. Holding up to this day, and easily touched up when I've damaged it myself. The crew was great, I was so excited to see the kitchen but was out for the afternoon. Joe and Jill Sabel are the owners of Final Coat Painting. They're an incredible company and have my unequivocal endorsement. Joe not only provided me with a reasonable cost estimate, his employees thoroughly inspected the entire exterior of the house and replaced numerous 2x4 wooden boards which had lots of visible dry rot, with new wood of much better quality. Joe's crew chief Walter did a phenomenal job. His crew spent almost as much time replacing dry rot with new wood, and priming rusty nails as they did painting the house. Other painters will caulk dry rotted areas which is only a temporary fix. The Final Coat painters replaced rotted out boards which is the proper way to correct the problem. Otherwise, you run the risk of the dry rot coming back. They only charged me $280 over their original estimate for additional material which they hadn't foreseen needed replacement. Considering all the rain we are now having, I'm delighted we selected J&J 's Final Coat as our painting contractor last summer. They did a fantastic job! Much appreciated! read more

They did a great job overall pay attention to up marks after the bid, also keep track of what you want painted what color, "match the existing color scheme" was not sufficient. I'm not unhappy with the final result, but do wish some things where pained one color where not painted that color. read more

This company does great work. Joe and his wife respond to all questions quickly. Their paint crews are the best I've seen. One side of my house needed a lot of scraping and sanding and two guys spent almost two days getting it done while the other two painted other areas of the house. Final Coat painted the exterior of my house in April 2019. They did a quality job. They were timely, neat, polite, and professional. I called them recently to have them touch up a few areas, and Joe came out to check on my areas of concern. He took the time to explain to me why what I was seeing was normal, and willingly offered to send his crew over to repaint/seal some of the areas at no cost. He even pointed out a few other areas that they would touch up at the same time. The crew showed up the next day, and not only repainted those areas, but pointed out a couple of other areas they touched up. Had several rooms and doors painted. Lead painter was surly, assistant was nice but very sloppy, painting window frames and missing spots. Assistant got paint all over skylight lens because they didn't bother to bring a tall ladder when they knew there were skylights. Half the doors they sprayed in the shop came back with many unsightly paint drips and they tried to install them until I saw the poor quality. This led to big argument with lead painter when I insisted they be returned to the shop for repainting. He also handled the doors roughly, bending some mounting hardware by bouncing them upside down on the ground. They painted the hallway but were so stingy with the paint that they provided that you could see the previous paint underneath. That shouldn't happen with white on white; it's like they intentionally thinned their paint. (I had provided all the other paint). Complained to owner so he sent out a foreman to deal with the doors but they didn't address the hallway so I held back final payment until they did. They kept emailing a wrong address demanding payment though they had the correct one. I finally called them because I'd heard nothing and wanted the hallway repainted, so the foreman finally came out and repainted it. Wow! Pretty bad. read more
