I was very honest with them (& now you all) about my mental health struggles in the last 6 months to explain why my pup hadn't had a proper (I tried myself but I'm no groomer) cut. They reassured me she'd be absolutely no more than $100 (even with the matting I explained) .... My did drop off and pick up for me, she did say the front desk personnel was nice & the facility was clean. This eased my nerves of sending my y somewhere new. Mom goes to pick up 7 hours later & my baby was shaved completely lol now I knew they'd more than likely shave her to give us a fresh start but isn't shaving easier than a structured haircut? Hmmm anyways they charged $150 which was clearly different than what they promised. My mom got me on the phone and the lady said there was no changing the price to match what I was quoted because they couldn't prove it. They apologized for the miscommunication & we went ahead and paid the price.. I was nervous taking my grand-dog as he doesn't like getting his haircut and baths. When they called me to tell me that he was ready for pick up and that he did well, I was amazed and happy. When I got there to pick him up he looked so amazing! I was super happy! He was so calmed when I picked him up and he looked handsome! DO NOT GO HERE!!! My standard poodle hadn't been to the groomer for 6 months because we were in the process of buying a house and moving here from the west coast since last summer. She did get brushed regularly, but did have a little matting on her ears. Our previous groomer in Oregon would have at least attempted to brush out any matting. I was quoted $95, but when I picked her up 7 hours after dropping her off the bill was $130. The employee I dealt with was extremely rude. When they brought my dog out after I paid, I was shocked to see that they had shaved her everywhere but the top of her head, which they had left about an inch long. It doesn't take 7 hours to shave a dog, nor does it take any extra effort, so why the price gouging? They didn't even trim her nails. Never going back there again. I have sheep shears. I've been using j&j for years now and this is the second time I've issue with the way my dog was treated while I'm there care!! Today was worse than ever after being there from 9am to 4 pm my husband picked our dog up from what was supposed to be a grooming appointment Covered in Piss!! His whole under body was wet! And he Reeked of pissed my husband tell me that they said he doesn't holds his pee like he use to!! Well he's definitely not the same Dog from 5/6 years ago!! He's Older and has to pee more Often just like any living thing that Ages!!!!! Took my fur baby here for the first time since her normal groomer lost their grooming person. I thought it was strange they didn't ask for shot records or if she was up to date, but didn't think too much into it. She will never return. The actual cut was fine and she looked really cute. Next morning I realized her bow was on too tight and cute it off. I was horrified to feel that her skin was also tied up in the bow. Causing her to have a huge knot of skin where the rubber band was. I called to let the owner know and she wasn't sympathetic IN THE LEAST. Her exact words were "She'll be ok. Sometimes it happens!" With a half hearted apology. I called to see if they could work in a rescue dog for our towns animal rescue. They were able to work us in within two days. Which was amazing. This dog was severely matted. The process that they used for appointment day was to have you drop off the dog at 9 AM And they approximated 2:30 PM to be a pick up time but that they would call. I was the first person to arrive with the dog and there were six people that came behind me so it was a drop off of many animals at the same time. I was a little concerned as this dog had been traumatized, by being out in the world, underfed and anxious. The person checking us in was very professional and kind about him. I was called before 2 o'clock to pick him up. They did an excellent job removing all that matted hair. He was clean and neat and seemed very happy. Well here's my experience my baby appointment was at 1pm 6/13/24; I called around 4pm he still wasn't ready. I finally received a call close to 6pm. I immediately had to pay before viewing my puppy. Right after paying I'm then told "OH this must be his first grooming appointment" Then she says I tried my best he's a biter. I'm so confused if it was a problem why wasn't I called in 5 hours because this wasn't his first grooming experience. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! I have a mini labradoodle and a mini goldendoodle. I have taken them to this place off and on for about 2 years. This last time was an absolute nightmare! Because of the bad reviews they have been getting and people warning you to check your pet before you pay, they now make you pay before they will even let you see them. And here is the reason. My 2 year old mini goldendoodle came home this time with multiple cuts and a nail on his front paw and a nail on his back paw hanging on by a thread. And of course they didn't mention it at all when my husband picked them up. Even when I just try to pet him, he cowers on the floor and pees, which he has never done before! He is clearly traumatized. He is now on trazadone just to relax. My mini labradoodle didn't have any visible cuts, but she just sits and shakes now. I feel horrible! Not to mention that every single time we have taken them there, the price increases significantly. The first time it was $75 for both of them and this last time I paid $140 for them to mistreat my pups. On top of that, it has cost me a vet bill. My dogs get groomed every 3 months and are always in good shape. Unless you tell them DO NOT SHAVE MY DOG, they will, regardless of the shape they are in or the breed. They even shaved my dogs tail and ears. Pure laziness. I am reporting them to the ASPCA and the BBB. This place needs to be shut down! read more

Absolutely awful service and unprofessional staff. Please do not take your pets here. I scheduled my dog for a 9am appointment. At 3:30 I called to check on her, as she had been there for 6 1/2 hours at this point. They said she would be done "soon." After another hour had passed, I called and told them I was coming to get her since it had now been 7 1/2 hours that she had been there and we had somewhere we needed to be. The staff was rude when my husband picked our dog up, and said in the future we need to let them know if there's a specific time we need her done by. If that's something you need to know, then you should ask when the appointment is scheduled. I don't think it was unreasonable for me to assume my 9am appointment meant my dog's grooming would begin at 9am, nor unreasonable for me to assume she wouldn't be there for OVER 7 HOURS. I got there and they couldn't tell me when my dog would be done bc there were many other dogs even though I scheduled ahead of time. My dog gets done in 3-4 hours and he looks hideous. Almost all his fur was shaved off when I specifically asked them not to shave a lot, and it looked like his ears were in pigtails. He came back looking pink and his underside had clipper burns everywhere. The poor guy has been licking down there like crazy. Not to mention that my dog's breed (maltipoo) is notoriously known for having sensitive skin and allergies, yet they put the most heavy type of perfume or powder on him. I have used this groomer several times. Her work had started slacking, but I figured i would give her one more chance. I have 2 dogs, 2 different breeds and cut them the same way. She had my Shih Tzu so scared that he was shaking for two days. She butchered him so bad that he has cuts all over his stomach and a big gash across his nose and my other dog has a big gash under his tail and on his stomach. Then I called the groomer and told her about the situation and her excuse was they were allergic to the clippers she used. So I told her I'd see her in court and the conversation was over. If I could do zero in the stars I would! We live in Speedway and have taken our pup to J & J's Grooming for the last year. After this last time, we will NOT be taking him back!! EVER!! We have always tipped well over 20% when we take him there. We had him groomed two days before we were going on a trip to Missouri. The most concerning thing was when I picked him up, he literally could not wait to get out! He was kicking his legs and arms so much it was all I could do to hold him until I got to the car! That has never happened before! We thought that was very strange. Once we got to Missouri we noticed he had clumps of longer hair on his chest, he was shaved on one side of his neck and not the other and he was supposed to have his nails done...however he was chewing his nails while we were in our room! The absolute most concerning part of this entire thing to us was not knowing what the heck they did to our baby! Something happened to him there because of the way he acted when I picked him up! Once again we will never take him there again! To those of you that have fur babies...please take this into consideration! We have sat on this for 2 or 3 weeks now and just couldn't shake it off! This is a mixed review. Both my mom and I have taken our dogs to this business for grooming. I have taken my dog twice and my mom once, based on my recommendation. They do excellent work and I always try to give my money to a locally owned business over a chain. I would rate their grooming service as 5 stars. They really are very good. However, both my mom and I had the same experience when it came to how we were treated. I took my dog there a second time to see if maybe the first time was an anomaly. The second visit dispelled that supposition. The staff are intensely rude and treated both me and my mom very badly. The groomer who worked on my dog is very talented so I sort of chalked up her behavior as eccentric or quaint, much like the way some artists come across. I was wrong. The staff are just rude and condescending. This is not the place you should go if you expect even the basest level of customer service. If, however, you want very good grooming and you don't mind being belittled for a fee that is greater than what the box chain that is located nearby charges, then I would recommend this business. When I dropped my dog off, who is a rescue and a part of my family, she was very uneasy. Initially I thought she was just being shy because we have only recently moved to the area. But, when I picked her up, she was terrified and tried everything to get out the door as soon as I arrived. Several of her nails were bleeding, her ears were still dirty and she was SHAKING! Worst place to have your dog groomed. The staff is rude and they do not even apologize when they make mistakes - instead they blame you. I told them I wanted my dog trimmed (like his usual trim there) and specifically told them NOT to shave him. He was supposed to be done by 2pm. Called because they hadn't called me yet and they said he wasn't ready. This place closes around 6pm still hadn't heard from them. I showed up at 630pm expecting he would be done- still not done. Then they tell me to go wait in my car and 30 minutes later they call me. I come in to see my dog shaved bald. She told me that is what I had requested and when I reminded her that he had never been shaved before she grabbed his appointment card - it was for the wrong dog! Then she changed her story and told me that they had to shave him because I obviously never brush my dog and he was completely matted so they had no other choice...I brush my dog just about every other day...wouldn't give me my dog until I paid full price for their horrible service. On top of it all...it was the middle of WINTER and my dog had no hair. I had to buy him sweaters just so he would go outside to potty. I usually don't write reviews of this nature unless I feel really, really compelled to do so. Let me give you the intro. My dog's regular groomer is Georgetown Animal Clinic located at Georgetown & Lafayette Rd. They usually don't have same day appointments and I wanted to get my dog in before leaving to go out of town. I called and was told they have same day appointments. So, I took my dog there whose name is Wynston. My first RED flag should have been when she said to my dog as he entered the front door "Don't pee there". I'm thinking, most dogs are always trying to mark their spot. I said "do you want me to wipe it up?" Shannon replied, "No, we just tell them not to pee on the floor". I'm thinking, as a "so-called" professional dog groomer and someone who's around dogs all the time, what dog do you know that would understand what she just said. Needless to say, I left my dog Wynston there to get groomed by the "so-called" professional dog groomer. I dropped him off at approx 9:00 and ran my other errands. I picked him up at approx 3:00. Upon entering the facility, I asked "how did Wynston do?" Shannon said "he didn't do very well because he bites". I said he never did that at his regular groomer and she said "well we called Georgetown Animal Clinic and they told me that he always bites and that they have to always muzzle him and also they said they had told you about it". I said "that I have never been told that". I told Shannon that I would be calling Georgetown Animal Clinic as soon as I got in the car. I called Georgetown Animal Clinic and was told that they never said that. To determine if this Shannon was being honest, I went back into the building and had Georgetown Animal Clinic on speaker phone and they said to Shannon "We never ever told you that and we also told you that if you didn't want to groom Wynston, leave him as is and that I could bring him in the next day". Well Shannon couldn't face the truth when confronted. She called me a liar and said "you lied to me because you knew that he would bite". She further said, "take your dog and don't come back". If I didn't think she would immediately call the Speedway police, I would have went the f*** off on her. She called me a liar when she was the one who was the liar and lying on Georgetown Animal Clinic. Georgetown Animal Clinic told her the only behavior they had seen out of Wynston is when they are trimming his legs because they are a tender spot and he becomes a little agitated but they know how to handle situations like this because they are a professional and know that all dogs aren't the same and that that is tender spot on most dogs. My only thought for my dog's behavior is that Shannon must have either intentionally been mean to Wynston and could care less if they injured him or if he was uncomfortable during the grooming. SHANNON PLACED ALL THE BLAME ON MY DOG!!!! She is an evil "B**ch" and, because it must be individually owned by her or her mommy and daddy, she feels as if she can talk to people any kind of way. Well, here's news for you sister, learn to treat all of your customers, including the animals with respect. YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE THE ONES KEEPING YOU IN BUSINESS. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY GROOMER IN INDY. This leads me to believe the other reviews that I have read on this site about animal cruelty and how one reviewer just happened to be in the waiting room and went where her dog was being groomed; she witnessed the cruelty and immediately snatched her dog and left the building. If Shannon wasn't so "money hungry" she could have easily called me at the telephone number that was given when I dropped my dog off and said come and get him, we cannot handle him. But you know money thirsty people will do anything for a dollar. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE -- IF YOUR DOG ISN'T A FAVORITE OR A DOG THAT SHE LIKES OR IF IT MAY LOOK DIFFERENT FOR HER TASTE, SHE WILL HURT YOUR DOG. Great staff and prices, Excellent Grooming I pass up several Groomers on the way but for the service and great experience I have had with J & J Grooming I would not go any place other than J &J I drive from Trafalgar Indiana for my dogs. Instead of locking your pet in a cage they will make a bed in a room and your pet is totally relaxed and fills like it is at home.
