I'm putting maybe because I've only been once. I came to wash my dog, first time ever doing a self wash in a place like this. We moved from AZ/SD and typically would wash him at my parents vet hospital. We washed him with the shampoo provided, rinsed and dried him. All seemed great till 3 days after he had a huge bacterial infection all over his skin!!! After speaking with my parents (veterinarians) and doing a skin scrape we believe it was contracted from the refill shampoo bottles not being properly sanitized between clients plus having diluted soap sit in them for 24 hours or more. For $17 and a giant infection that needs antibiotics even 3 weeks after going and contracting this I do not recommend the washing stations. read more

I took my moms dogs in for a grooming and they did a beautiful job. I liked how they treated me and the dogs. The salon was not loud like many other salons. They got me in very quickly and best of all they didn't keep the dogs all day long. Will use this company again. read more

I have brought my corgi to them a few times and all have been great. He is always finished and ready to come home in about 3-4hours. The staff are friendly, and I love that they always schedule my doggo with the same groomer so he has someone familiar. The salon is clean, and the way it is set up you can see the back where they have all the dogs from the lobby. They even offer discounts if you stay on a repeating schedule. read more

They do not care for the animals at all! They are rough with giving them a bath and they yell at the animals even when they are doing nothing but being a animal use vulgar language that has no call for just saying don't bring your family here. read more

They're quick to respond, easy to book with, did a great job with my anxious eighty-pound dog, and I'm booked again! My only issue with them was the amount of fur on his rear (a little long for my taste, but that's all!), which doesn't match up at all with the things other folks are saying. My dog's hair can be quite difficult to groom, but they did a fantastic job. They were really quick. When I first picked him up his hair was a little longer than it probably should have been, I gave them the wrong level the cut. STAY AWAY!! STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY! IS ANYONE EVEN TRAINED/EDUCATED ?My dog looked UNRECOGNIZABLE!!! After 3 weeks of growth he STILL looks like a TERRIER...MY DOG IS A SHIH-TZU!! The groomer cut his ears off high and short and the CUT her tailll!! WHO DOES THAT? Do you have any CONCEPT of a dogs breed and hair characteristics? The hair on top of his head ranges from a quarter inch to over an Inch!!! And I don't mean gradually either!! Who would totally change the look of a dog's breed??? Besides the worst cut my dog has had in 7 years! It looks as if someone BLIND took KINDERGARTEN SCISSORS and cut him WHILE he was performing in CIRQUE DU SOLEIL!!! WHAT THE HELL?? There are.no words....we really tried here...for the past year it has been constant issues with Gails business. One of our dogs was cut WAY TOO close .and it took a trip to the vet to get her comfortable!. There has NOT been ONE time our dog has been cut well or cut right at this business.! Yes, we have said USE SCISSORS!! ( as his hair lays down if razored and you can't use a form either) I will go out of my way to ensure people are informed about the LACK OF ABILITY and training, and disregard for customer satisfaction. We always give exact instructions every time, plus it's written on a card. As an owner Gail is responsible for who is hired and their training...or in this case, LACK OF TRAINING!! IT'S SO BAD THERE IS NO WAY IT.WAS DONE BY SOMEONE OVER THE AGE OF 3...THEY.. 1. CAN NOT FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS! 2. HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF DOG BREEDS/CHARACTERISTICS! 3. DO NOT CARE ABOUT REPEAT CUSTOMERS OR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! 4. HAVE LITTLE/NO TRAINING GROOMING DOGS! How can you trust a business that won't get even the basics right?????? Customer service and communication was lacking with the owner. She was late asking me to b there early so if course was earlier than that but she was 15 min late and I had to go to work and a difference if opinion if construction is a legit reason when u don't buffer your time for possible issues, didn't write down or let anyone know that I would pick up at 1 so I received 3 cakes in 45 minutes while at work. Becky however did a great job and let me know I can deal with her directly. If I hadn't spoken with her and she assured this is unusual occurrence I likely wouldn't try again. Don't consider taking your dog here! We have been unhappy with our dogs' cuts and the lack of customer service at Hollywood. They have been very argumentative when any issues arise and have needed to keep the dogs for a very long time (7+ hours in one case). We had suspicions our dogs were being sedated in some way (accounting for the very long time required to leave them there), and we later had a friend tell us one of the workers admitted to her that they DRUG THE DOGS to make it easier to groom them. read more

I had a great experience!! I brought both of my Yorkies here. When I pick them up they were happy and looked gorgeous! Smelled amazing! My girl was very skittish but they did a great job trying to make her feel comfortable and able to groom her! Today my 80 year old great uncle took his 9 month old chow to be groomed at Hollywood Dogs (2310 W. Southport Road). He had just returned home and they called and stated that he needed to come back to assist them with his grooming. Well of course I just had to go with him to find out what the problem was, since Buster is just one big fur ball baby. When we walked in the owner was screaming at my uncle telling him that Buster was a mean dog and they needed him to be muzzled before they could continue. We got him muzzled with no problems and they continued with his grooming. The owner continued to argue with us about Buster and that if we didn't believe her, we could check out the video tapes. She was VERY rude and nasty, I kept telling her to calm down, but I guess she couldn't hear me because she wouldn't stop yelling. I finally walked out because I knew where this was going, but she wasn't worth anymore of my time or was I going to stoop to her level. She asked my uncle "who was that woman?", he told her that I was his niece and she responded "well, I don't want her to ever come into my shop again" (no worries there). When we picked Buster up, if that's their best grooming....people please save your money. He looks like he has mange, they left divots in this fur....down to the skin, the fur around is face is so uneven that it looks as if he was groomed by a 3 year old. Yes, I know chows can be aggressive, here's a good thought....if you think a breed is too aggressive then don't accept the job....instead of taking an elderly persons money ($100 for this hack job). The attitude and atmosphere at this "groomer" (and I use that term loosely), it's understandable that a dog (and they groom cats.....wow....that would draw a little blood). Please don't subject your fur babies to this type of abuse. And they want him to bring Buster back in 3 weeks to continue his grooming.....NOT!! The 1 star should be -10 stars read more

The owner is so friendly and accommodating. I am not a good planner, but every time I call to get my Lab/Huskey big dog "squeezed in," she never turns us away. My dog always looks great, and I have never had problems. They even told me that my dog looked like she possibly had an ear infection, and sure enough, my vet confirmed it. Very grateful for them! Also, there was one day that after I dropped my dog off, I found out my mother was in the hospital. They were so understanding, compassionate, & arranged for another one of my family members to pick her up, since I was at the hospital. Good people. read more

Wow! Just now reading these reviews, (as I am new to Yelp) and wondering how this business has remained open! We took our puppy Cavachon to Hollywood last Summer and when she came home (after SEVERAL hours), she was practically comatose for the remainder of the day. I wondered then if they sedated her with something. I repeatedly called once we were home and they wouldn't answer their phone! It was all very odd, the entire experience, and I vowed to myself I would not go back. I saw where someone else commented about drugs. I hope these groomers are not doing such an unlawful practice on these poor little animals. :-( read more

I brought my dogs in for a walk-in nail trimming and had the most traumatizing experience. I called before, the woman on the phone was quite rude, I ignored it. She trimmed my younger, agile dog's nails first, then (against my better judgement) I sent my older, less flexible dog back to be trimmed and witnessed some of the worst means of "grooming" that I have ever seen. The groomer PULLED on my dogs hind legs so hard that she fell in to my sister's lap. My dog has arthritis and doesn't LIKE her paws touched, but tolerates nail trimmings. She is not aggressive and would never lash out even if she feel pain. I will NEVER be bringing either of my dogs here ever again. The service was AWFUL, the dogs looked miserable, and the groomer OBVIOUSLY didn't know what she was doing. Petsmart has NEVER put my dog in so much pain. She never minds going there and is never anxious when she leaves. I can't believe this place is still in business. Stay away from this place. You want a groomer that will care for your dog just as you would. The groomer's acts were borderline abusive. I can't believe I actually PAID for this awful service. read more

I have taken my dog to this business twice. My issue with this business is that you never know when they are actually going to be open. Sometimes there is staff there until 3pm even though their hours are posted 9a-5p. Sometimes I call at 1pm and no one is there. I started going there because it was closer to my home and cost less than going to Petsmart. I will be trying a new groomer today and hope that they stick to their posted hours. read more

If I would have read the other reviews before I brought my dog to Hollywood dogs then I could have saved my pet from the pain and agony of what was done to her. We brought her in for grooming around Thanksgiving and the razor burn that was gifted to my pet from the groomer was so bad that She has been multiple times to the Vet and won't walk. I brought this to the attention of the owner Gail who got very defensive and angry to say the very least. I simply asked for my money back because I was far from satisfied with services rendered and she blew up at me. Not something you would expect from a professional but if you read her other yelps they are the same. The same day I asked Gail for my money back she showed up at my home without permission banging on my door over and over again. I didn't answer but does this sound like someone that is guilty of animal abuse? I believe it is. Our dog now has possible issues with her back and maybe a slipped disc!!! The only thing I can tell you is that she could walk before she was groomed and now there are medical issue. My advice to anyone who cares about their pet is to stay far far away from this place. What has happened to our dog is disgusting and against the law. STAY AWAY FROM HOLLYWOOD DOGS! It's the right thing to do! read more
