This auto repair shop must think I am Willie Da Fido around here. They want to charge me $125 to check out my truck. I just paid them $700 to replace the fuel pump. Now my truck won't crank unless I relieve the pressure on the fuel line. They took time to tell me my brake fluid needs to be flushed among other things equally an additional $1k. I was planning to go back to get those items fixed. You are not going to milk me. Find another cow. They just missed that $1k trying to milk me for that $125. And they got a bad review from me, which can potentially cost the other customers. read more

Story Time! While sending the teenage son on his first long distance trip back to college, the lights on the car go crazy and the car absolute dies on the side of the highway 3 hours from home. This is on a Sunday and the next town appears to be Marshall, TX. Without many options we start the journey to pick up the stranded college student and look for options on how to fix the vehicle. We called J&L Automotive (again on a Sunday) and just left a message on the off chance that we might get a response. Within minutes the owner called us back, assessed the situation, and gave us directions to bring the car to his shop. A quick tow later we have the car at the garage. Ready to leave it there overnight, a nice gentleman pulled into the parking lot to check on us. The gentleman just happened to be a mechanic at the shop driving back with his family after church. He saw us milling around the vehicle outside of his shop just wanted to make sure that we were OK. He assured us that the car was safe, and they would get on it first thing in the morning. We needed parts that were hard to get, but they had the car ready in less than 2 days. They communicated with us through the whole process and by day three the car was running like a champ and the student was on his way back to college. Months after the fact, we received an unsolicited call form the owner just to make sure that the car was in good shape. We live hours away and we will probably never need service here again (I would use again in a heartbeat if I could), but if anyone is reading this because you are looking for a mechanic - hopefully this story gives you the piece of mind that this J&L is honest, caring and worthy of your business. 8 hours in to a 10 hour drive when the AC went out. Pulled in to J&L and pulled back onto the road with frosty air. Great service. Honest, did what they said and not before clearing it with us. I have an older car that needed work, I asked them before I brought it to them and they said they can work on it no problem, I should have asked if they could fix it. They had my care for almost 2.5 months total and still not working correctly. Everytime they said it was fixed, something else became a problem and the original problems still were not fixed correctly. They also left oily finger/hand prints all over the interior, did not put console back together correctly, didn't hook stereo back up, I provided a shop manual and it was mauled with the cover torn off and very greasy fingerprints all over. The only reason I have given them 2 stars is that they were always nice, but I also am not an aggressive person so not very demanding. Now my car sits in my driveway with blown gasket (one they supposedly had replaced), no to mention missing some bolts on the engine. No, would not bring it back, might cost me another couple thousand. read more
