Sorry for the late post. This work was done in 2024…read more Had a leak coming into the basement around the chimney area. Called Reese & Sons because of their high rating and positive reviews. Lucas answered while on an existing job. He was very honest saying he can't drop by to make an assessment. Knowing the importance of the situation, he said he'll have his father drop by to take a look. The father (was it Joe?) came by as promised and saw that the previous roofer didn't put flashing around a portion of the chimney. He gave a couple of possible fixes and I picked the more expensive one. He gave me a break on price if i went with the more expensive fix which i appreciated. Before showing up for the work due to budgeting issues i changed to the lower price solution. He didn't have any problems with this change. He and his other son (not Lucas) came on the day as promised. The funny thing was I didn't know they were there until i heard banging outside! They ripped some of the old roof tiles, installed new flashing and overlay them with some leftover tiles I had laying around. They also caulked around other parts of the chimney. They cleaned up their mess. There were aome storms afterwards and no leak! Thx to Lucas for knowing the importance of the problem and having your father and brother fit me into their schedule. And thx to father and son (was it Joe and Ezekiel?!) for fixing the leak! I would definitely consider them to put in a new roof when the time comes!

He seemed to know his job really well and was extremely informative when taking notice of something good, bad, or "just as is for what it is." He invited me to follow him the whole length of the way. I was expecting a lot of silence, or a "don't distract me" attitude but he kept on chatting away telling me what he was looking for, what he found, or what was still inconclusive. We were pretty sure the house never had oil heat, and we were planning to pass on the tank sweep. But he suggested we get one anyway just based on the furnace switch plate having the words "Oil Burner" on it. He said, "The person who installed the furnace may just have used the wrong switch plate, but at the same time they may have recycled the switch plate when converting to gas." He kept on suggesting to do a tank sweep based on that alone. He seemed so trustworthy with everything else that, I felt compelled to listen to him on that. Low and behold, towards the end of the basement inspection, he came across two more clues that the house had oil-based heat at one time. Though still inconclusive if it the tank is still buried I was impressed how he found that evidence. Tank sweep scheduled for this week. Pillar to Post held true to its name today!

When he arrived, he really took the time to listen to our concerns and even asked to see some photos to get a better idea of what we were dealing with. After taking a look, he explained that the issue was actually outside the scope of what he usually inspects. But instead of just walking away, he stuck around, explained everything clearly, and gave us some super helpful advice. You can tell John really knows his stuff. He was professional, honest, and didn't try to sell us on anything unnecessary. In fact, he insisted on not charging us, saying he likes to "sleep peacefully at night." That says a lot about his character. He even sent us detailed suggestions on how to handle the problem--what kind of work would be needed, the materials to use, and even what kind of handyman to look for. He also gave us a few referrals to get started. Just a quick update to my previous review written on 9/26/2021…read more First, NOTHING HAS CHANGED about the positive review I wrote about John's services, however after some time has passed since we first met John, I do want to add that John is absolutely and truly one of those people who keeps his promise of "feel free to reach out to me in the future and I will get back to you on it". Despite having completed our home inspection many months ago, as we settled into our home, we realized small things here and there that we didn't notice earlier. Every time we encountered something new, we thought any one of these questions - What can be causing this? How did this happen? How can we fix this? Will this cost much? Is this a small or big problem? The bottom line was where do we go from there?! ... JOHN to the rescue! Every time we had a question, not often, but the few times we did, we took John up on his generous offer of reaching out to him and, NOT ONCE, did John fail to respond within 1 day! Not only has John been extremely cordial and professional with every communication we had with him, but he takes the time to write out detailed, technical and specific instructions on how we could resolve our home issues. Honestly, we would be so lost without his guidance and advice, but he has made our transition into our home less stressful. Like I said in my earlier review, John was recommended by our realtor and we truly believe this was, hands down, the BEST recommendation out of all of the recommendations we received.

The inspector did not bring his ladder and did not inspect the basement windows. He didn't even try to open them. He had a disclaimer on what they did or didn't do. Also, he pointed out very little things and put together a very "complex" document with tons of pictures. We were not impressed at all. I first sought out Mike from All Phase Home Inspection instead who conducted a previous home inspection for me, but his location was too far away in Jackson, NJ. I preferred Mike since he knew a lot more but I couldn't get him to travel out to Flemington since it was too far away for him.
