This business is a rip-off! They scammed my family for several thousands of dollars. The job was haphazard incomplete as Manhattan Roofing repaired half the roof, but NOT the entire roof of the whole building. They did not show photos of the completed work and partly negligent from my party as no one was physically able, ready and willing to climb the roof to make a visual assessment of the alleged completed work. My party has become dismayed, dispondent from the deficit and utter dysfunction horrible work from Manhattan Roofing including the financial pain of being cheated and scammed. The absence of work completion. It is the consequences and the effect of NOT doing. My party and I are victim who grapples with these plaguing consequences. Forward. Years later, the continual plaguing problem of leaks and water damage from rain, snow and all elements entered. The workers from this rpofing business did not enter the roof but used a long ladder from the side of the building to do this haphazard work. Ergophobia? Or, acrophobia of heights? Money hungry! Showed up at my home unannounced telling my father that some of the shingles needed to be repalced and he could take pictures of the roof. I went outside to tell him that the services weren't needed at this time. I then questioned where they were from because their accents didn't sound like NYC to me. I do this as I have my reservations when a company just shows up to your home. And that's when the truck driver asked for the business card back, which I wasn't going to give him (seriously, you want your business card back?). I let a few choice words fly to which I was told that's how they breed them in the Bronx and when I attempted to take a picture of the truck's rear license plate as there wasn't one in the front (turns out they have temp plates), the driver called me fat. I would NEVER do business with such rude assholes. Who would want this sort of trash doing work on their home? You don't like Bronx then get the eff out. Originally his job was only for the garage roof but as we were doing a final inspection on the garage roof he did a fantastic job of up-selling me to also have him take a look at my building's roof by pointing out some visible deficiencies in my building's roof. Have been doing a lot of repairs and remodeling to prepare Jersey City property for sale and left the roof for last, thinking all we had to do was gutter clean and some minor sealing work. I was actually not home at the time so George texted me a video so I could see the state of things up there. He pointed out the "band aid" type fixes that previous roofers had done and made recommendations to remediate. George was very professional and respectful, and never "talked down" to me. His recommendations were sound and his pricing fair. We scheduled the work and his crew got it done on time, as promised. He even sent me before and after photos of the work he had done to show me what was done. His work is backed by a two-year, no-leak warranty which further reinforces my trust that they know what they're doing. What's the lesson I learned? Sometimes you do get what you pay for. I come across this mom & pop roofing shop after I had a recommendation from a friend of mine. I was living in a pretty old townhouse down in lower Manhattan. It was 1pm in the afternoon, My housemate and I were couching and watching Netflix before I felt a drop of water hitting my cheek. I thought it was only a minor leaking until the water kept pouring down and getting worse after several minutes. I told my roommate to check the rooftop but he is scared of height. Having no experience with any handyman work, I have no clue to fix a sink let alone rooftop problem. So I check manhattan roofing as it was recommended by a friend of mine earlier, I called the shop to explain my situation. A guy answered the phone and warmly greeted me. I told him to come right away since the leaking has gotten worse. Without any hesitation, he told me that he could come in 30 minutes with his crew.
