They installed remote start in 2018 Tundra back when I bought it new. It was malfunctioning this winter so stopped in the shop and they fixed it for free. Said they had to re program it for some reason. read more

I deffently would not recommend this shop.. I took my 2015 Nissan Armada to have the under coating and paint shield reapplied , after an accidect.. J&R Auto Solan ,was the final part of the repairs. I picked my car up the next afternoon , and when I stepped out of the car I saw a large dent and several scratches on the drivers door seal plate, someone had dropped something heavy on the seal plate. This damage wasn't there when I dropped my car off but it was definitely there now. James. ,the owner refused to take responsibility for the damage,even though it was obviously fresh damage. read more

They recently installed racking on my work van as well as protective paneling on the inner side walls to prevent the sides of the van from denting. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My boyfriend purchased a 2018 Chevy Silverado back in January (almost a year ago).The dealership sent him here to get his brand new power sliding window put in. We have had nothing but problems since then & have been back multiple times. The most recent time he was there they did a temporary fix,while exploring the option of getting a new window to replace the broken one (back in July). HERE WE ARE IN OCTOBER & they have never contacted him. The only contact there has been since July is when my boyfriend reaches to them. They have made it extremely difficult to get this problem resolved. They have yet to order a new window or even contact us with updates of this issue. The lack of customer service this company has is embarrassing! As of right now I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here!! read more

My husband and I were looking for an auto start on his vehicle we were actually scheduled with an appointment for the business across the street from J&R, once we arrived and went in for our appointment we realized that we were victims of a bait and switch. Before we left I noticed J&R across the street and I told my husband to run in there and inquire about an auto start. We spoke with Steven who is very informative not only did we purchase an auto start but we are also scheduled for car detailing for both of our vehicles. Now mind you we didn't have an appointment that day, we were just walk ins and received service that day with no issues at a price we were looking for. I recommend J&R to anybody. read more

Good customer relations is everything these days. J&R Auto Salon has been tasked with detailing my Hummer since it was new. At first, they did reasonably decent work, picking up the vehicle at my office and returning it later in the day nice and clean. Lately, however, their level of quality and customer service has gone down hill. The last time my Hummer was in for detail, they blasted a chip of paint off the fender with their pressure washer, left swirl marks in the black paint, used some sort of product on my seats that bleached the leather out, and soaked the rugs with water to the point where it shorted out my heated seats. When I mentioned these things to the driver, he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "hey man, don't blame me, I wasn't the one that detailed it." I had a momentary lapse in judgment this morning when I phoned J&R for another detail. I was informed that they could get my vehicle in today, however I would have to bring it to them on my own as they no longer can pick up or deliver. Fine. I had my assistant follow me down and we dropped it off. I left my vehicle at J&R with instructions to call me when it was done. A couple hours later, I received a call at my office from some clerk at the counter. She was very pleasant, but informed me that I would have to pay roughly $40 more for the services I requested because the owner said I don't have my vehicles detailed there often enough and don't send them enough business. No kidding. Suffice to say, I informed her not put a drop of water to my Hummer and I would be down immediately to pick it up, which I did. There are hundreds of places in the area to get a car detailed. J&R is no longer one of them. Having me as an unhappy customer will cost them far more than the additional $40 they tried to gouge out of me this morning for an already overpriced and mediocre wash and wax. Happy customers, on average, tell about 10 people. Disappointed customers, like myself, tell everyone. read more

Super experience. I've had a Viper remote starter on my vehicle for about 15 years. Wanted to purchase one for my husband's truck for Christmas-and beat the holiday rush/winter appointment schedule. Had done my homework on how to purchase and where to install remote systems. One huge warning was to trust a business whose main focus is on installing these units - stay away from the "big box" stores who will promise a $10.00 discount but more than likely will cost you time and money when the intricate units are not installed properly, and can ruin the electronics of your vehicle. I understand installing one of these units takes experience, time and focus. Found J&R while building the new remote system on the Viper website. Viper gives the viewer choices of local vendors to choose from and then email them on your behalf for a quote. Initially, I had a business in mind...a little further away from my residence but I had used them before for a minor repair on my ancient system. They did not respond. Viper followed through and asked if I wanted to seek another quote from a different local business. J & R is closer to my home and are recommended had some decent reviews and are a "Viper Preferred Vendor." Ryan emailed me within 4 hours with a quote I found reasonable. I called him within the hour to set up a Saturday appointment. (1.5 weeks in advance). We dropped the vehicle off at 9:10AM. Ryan said it should be ready within 4 hours. He phone me at 1:10PM to advise us the car was ready. The invoice was the exact price he quoted. After a brief tutorial on how to use the remote, we were on our way. Professional, courteous service. I would feel confident recommending them to a relative. Note, even with the GPS-Google Maps we passed J&R up! If heading W. on Chicago Ave (Irving Park Rd.) it is down a driveway on the North side of the street (between Isla Maria's blue sign and a closed car wash sign "Waterwerks." If you pass "Waterwerks" you've gone too far. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE Came here to find out why my remote starter was not working, they took my keys & took a look at my car. Thought it was going to be a quick check but took 45 minutes. The guy who checked the car came back said they couldn't fix it & said not to worry there wouldn't be a charge for checking. he sent me to the front desk & the service guy/the owner said there is a charge for checking the car even though they didn't find the problem. They should of made me aware of the $125 charge from the minute I walked in those doors. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. they think they can take money out there customers & take advantage of the Youth (females). they tried to knock the charge down to $85. Told them I wasnt Going to pay as that wasn't disclosed before they took my car. Owner said "fine take your car & dont bother coming back for any service" like how rude of an business owner to talk to any customer in that manner. Had a 9:00 window tint appointment. They didn't even pull the car into the bay until 11:45 knowing that I was waiting. They charged me $165.00 and didn't even bother to finish the job as the back seat windshield was left un-tinted. They also left a bubble in the driver side window. I didn't get out of there until 3 in the afternoon. The place is filthy. They have an ant infestation and glue trap for mice. You could write your name in the dust it was so thick. I can not recommend them at all. I called them as soon as I got home. They wanted me to come back and pay them more money to do the back windshield after being left to wait all day for their inferior service. I was starving and had to pee so bad after waiting there since 9 a.m. I am one very unhappy former customer. read more

Better late than never...I had an auto start put in my car back in 2012 when I bought my car brand new by J & R Auto Salon. Recently (April / May) of 2019 I was having issues with my car starting and dying on me as I was shifting into drive from park. I had my car towed to a local shop and to no avail, I elected to have them tow it to the dealership. Both locations stated it was due to the aftermarket auto start system I had installed. I was told by the dealership that I needed to disconnect it and have a total rewiring of my system to resolve the issue ($1,700). I called J & R's and explained to them the issue and was advised to call the dealer asap to have them stop doing everything immediately, which I did. They drove out to the dealership in Schaumburg, realized what the true problem was, fixed it, and drove it back to their shop. This was all in less than 1 (one) hour. The issue turned out to be a loose and then finally unplugged bypass module that is under the steering wheel. There was absolutely NO charge from J & R to me for any of their time and efforts. Top notch service from everyone I dealt with throughout the day. They have my full recommendation going forward. read more

I am so disappointed in this business. I had a remote start installed by them and it stopped working. I called to see if I could find out what I could do to fix it. The technician had me run a test at home to diagnose it. He determined it would be a quick fix and to bring it in and that wouldn't cost anything. When I got to J&R, I recapped what I was told on the phone. They took my vehicle and pulled it into the shop. I waited about an hour (even though I was told it would take 15 mins). When they brought my vehicle back, the technician tried to find an excuse why what they installed didn't work instead of being upfront with me. He didn't fix it nor did he give me a real reason why the remote start didn't work . As I was leaving, I was then told i owed $60 for a diagnostic fee. No fee was ever disclosed up front and I was told it was a quick and free fix. I left paying money when I still don't have a diagnosis of what went wrong!! Consumer beware, bad business, bad customer service and would not recommend to anyone!! They not only lost my business, but they have also lost the business of my family and friends as well. Hope the loss of loyal customers was worth your $60. read more

I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu in which I wanted to have an aftermarket CD player with a USB port installed so that I could listen to my MP3s along with my CDs. Apparently, Chevys are a little tricky in the aftermarket toys department, and I had a bit of difficulty finding someone who could do it. J&R was able to quickly get the requisite harness, and they installed it with little advanced notice. The install was a bit complicated... they had to get a new integrated data screen with the harness and switch the stereo and data screen around on the dash... but if you didn't know any better, you'd never be able to tell. My dashboard looks as if the car rolled off the showroom floor that way. I just had two small problems: The data screen tends to flicker very slightly in colder temperatures, and the text doesn't stand out as much as it did on the old data screen, making it somewhat more difficult to read. Not a big deal, though, as the music is the important part, and that sounds GREAT. The other thing is that this place is REALLY hard to find. It's located behind a car wash, with no sign on the street itself. This wouldn't have been a big deal, had they told me when I made my appointment, but they didn't, and I ended up driving around for almost 45 minutes trying to find it. read more

Spilled a gallon of milk in my car on a Friday night. Took the car to J &R auto salon. They completely ruined my car. After assuring me they would work on it right away at 1pm Sat when I brought it in and the rug was still wet, they left it to sit till Monday morning! Came to pick it up Mon night and the car reeked as they had basically just detailed it! After speaking to the owner they then kept the car another day to pull up the carpet, but then instead of replacing the padding they let the milk dry in they washed it and put it back in, so the car still reeks! I tried to call and talk to the owner and he is never in. I have left a several messages for him to call me and he refuses to call me back I was charged over $150 for them to ruin my car. Terrible business practices! Worst decision I ever made to take my car there! read more

I have been a loyal customer of J&R for almost 10 years but that will end after my visit on 2/19/2019. I had a problem a year ago where when using the remote starter on my Honda Ridgeline the panic alarm would sound after the car started. I had the same problem last year and J&R found that a wire running from the remote start device to the door locks was broken. They replaced the wire for a one hour shop fee of $60.00. Now this year the same thing happened. At first they said that the fee is now higher but would keep the fee at $60.00. I said Ok go ahead and fix it. After an hour they had me go into the shop and they showed me the broken wire. It was where the door hinges are located that due to flexing by opening and closing the door it broke. I observed that this wire was NOT run through the protective "wire sleeve" that the normal wires are run by the factory. When I asked if the new wire could be run inside the same sleeve I was told that it would take longer and would be an additional charge. I was not happy since this is the way that it should have been installed from the start to protect the wire but they had me over a barrel so I agreed. I ended up with a bill of $125.00. I feel that I was taken advantage of and that they should not have penalized me for their failure to install the wires correctly to begin with and also on the first repair a year ago. So I was charged a total for the two repairs of the same issue of $185.00. Taking care of customers after the sale is NOT something that J&R puts a value on, just a price tag! J & R Auto Salon - well, I would move-on to another Auto Electronics Shop. I asked if they take appointments and was told yes but the earlier the better. I asked what time they open, which is 9am. I had my car there by 930am. I asked them to look at the auto start system I already had, to see if they could fix it. If not, then to install a unit I already purchased from them for a previous car. I had not heard from them yet and it is now 1:00 and they stated they had not even looked at it yet.. He said he would call me back in a couple minutes with a diagnosis. He called back and said he could not fix the system that was already in place, and that it would take the rest of the day, till 6pm to install the new unit.. I have worked in service my whole life and the non-service I recieved was a disgrace. Not only did the not call after 3 hours, they didn't or couldn't fix the system I already had. Lastly, they wanted to keep my car for another 5 hours and would "maybe" have it done by closing time. I will no longer referr customers to them and am very disappointed. If you are looking for great or good service, look elsewhere. read more

I had 2 cars with remote start added to them. Neither worked as they installed them, I brought it back to them, waited around 3 hours, still didn't get fixed. While they are very friendly there, I would not trust them with anything but the simpliest after market stuff. I also had them as an after market installer for a brand new vehicle that was installed through the dealership and they still couldn't make things right. read more

Absolutely loved the service I received here- I got a remote car starter installed last year. This service takes several hours, and while I was in the wait area, the receptionist and other employees were so welcoming (and jovial! always refreshing in a place of business to see workers who are apparently enjoying themselves at work). Once my car was ready, a guy thoroughly walked me through how to use it, patiently answering all my questions. After I left, I had forgotten my phone on the receptionist's desk. When I realized it was gone, I called it to try to locate it, and the receptionist from J&R answered, explaining that I had left it there. When I arrived to retrieve it, she let me know that it had almost died, and she had plugged it in with her own charger to keep it alive- had she not done that, I might not have found it for a long time! My phone is locked, so she would have had no way of figuring out whose phone it was without me having called it! Overall, a nice place with professional, prompt service, and employees who are there to do more than just make money off of you! read more

This place is so chaotic and did such a job on me I would never consider going back. I bought a radio and after taking the car back four times they couldnt get it right. they talked me into trading for a much inferior radio. My original radio had wifi and voice recognition. This was has next to nothing and now I stuck with it. they talked me into using the extra cash to get window tint and that worked out just as bad. They left the car dirty, didnt replace the carpet, and left the old antenna on along with the new one. I wish I had never done business with them. read more

Stay away from this place. I purchased a brand new vehicle and J&R did alarm install on it. Instead of using connectors or soldering the connections, they twisted the wires of the harness together and taped them. This install lasted two days. Instead of fixing the problem, they lied about it and said the car was too smart and they couldn't figure out the problem. I live in Wisconsin, and bought a vehicle from a dealer near J&R. The dealer used them to install some aftermarket equipment. First off the overhead DVD did not when I tried to turn it on. Then they disconnected the USB connection in my center console. I had to drive two hours just for them to do the job the right way, turned out it was a loose wire on the DVD that took 5 min to fix. As to the USB Port they didn't bother. I end up bringing it home and doing it myself. It took 45 minutes to make their average installation look professional. Not to mention when I was there another customer was waiting for installation of a Remote starter/ keyless entry. He paid his money and was getting the walkthrough of his new purchase and the Trunk release did not work. Three of the staff where out there pointing the finger at each other and the feature simply did not work. Ironically the other customer was experiencing the same thing I just had gone through. Except he figured it out at the store and not at the dealership after hours. This leads me to believe that half ass work is the norm and not the exception. read more

Hi, my boyfriend had brought two of his trucks to this place and we both were very unsatified with the quality of work they did. Truck #1 needed an under coat done a detailing done and a remote start done. The remote start was fine, but the detailing was horriable. They did not do the roof and they scratched the door of the truck. They openly admitted to doing a crappy job to the trucks detailing but not the scratch on the door and said they did not do the roof n said they would redo it after the second truck was done. We get the second truck back and when he picked it up the guy who was at the shop was on something, as he couldnt even say the name of the vehicle. And when he took it home there were water marks all over it, so he started to hand wax the truck his self, in which it looked a million times better then after they detailed it. After picking back up truck #1 it again wasnt detailed properly. We will not be going back to this place and we will not be telling other people about it as our expirence wasnt at all good after going rounds with them about proper detailing. read more
