I'm constantly getting compliments on how well it looks. Most people don't even believe the house was was ever remodeled because of how well all of the walls, trim, and doors look. Aside from the aesthetics of the remodel, Stephen and all of the other contractors he recruits are trustworthy and have great workmanship. He is also very good about keeping you in the loop to make sure you know what needs to happen and when to make sure your project gets completed correctly....which is a rare experience when dealing with many of Austin's contractors. As for price, Wards Custom Woodwork charges a little more than the average Austin contractor. However, I think it was worth the slightly higher price. Not only is the owner, Stephen, there for the majority of the job, he is also very familiar with the permitting and regulation part of the projects. Which can be a HUGE pain, especially in Austin City Limits. I completely recommend Wards Custom Woodworks for remodeling projects. I'll probably be giving them another call in the future when I need some more remodeling work completed.

After meeting and talking to him I got a couple of additional estimates and decided to go with him. Stephen was very patient and helpful in my decision making of what to do. There were multiple considerations but the final decision was new fencing, roofing, exterior painting and a new 13 x 15 foot patio room addition. During this time Stephen was very good about providing me with various options in order to stay within my budget. Though this project had bumps along the way the final outcome is very nice. Stephen created a beautiful patio room that blends in perfectly with rest of the house. At first I had concerns of the windows and their locations. Stephen assured me it was for the best and the design turned out wonderfully. I have plenty of light and still have wall space for furniture. He also rounded the corners in each window to match the interior. The painting of the exterior went smoothly and is perfectly matched to its original color. We even did some additional trim to give it some pop. A satin finish was used giving it a nice sheen. Stephen chose a shingle that was slightly different in color but looks much better than the original color. Roofing is one of his specialties and turned out great. The fencing was a challenging area but now finished and quite striking. Stephen and his crew started early every morning. He and his crew get along well and work like a well oiled machine. They all have a good sense of humor and appear to enjoy their work. One of Stephen's strong suites is his sub contractor contacts. Every sub did an outstanding job. I ended up adding additional patio work to create a courtyard. His cement guy Phillip worked from 9 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. the next morning to complete the cementing before the forecasted rain arrived. He arrived early Monday morning to complete the work. Other than a few minor adjustments that I'm sure Stephen wiil take care of I basically have a larger nicer new home. When considering contractors your search should include Stephen and his crew.

From the first meeting, he was professional and took the project seriously. He started with a drone photo overhead and created a design with our architect's plan. Travis worked with us to design a drought-tolerant landscape with a combination of astroturf and xeriscape, as well as limestone paver walkways with black granite and black steel edging to go with the aesthetics of our modern ranch. Our third party inspector noted that many landscape companies do not weld the steel edging to the stakes, but Travis's crew welded all of the connections and the steel seems thicker than what we had at our previous home. We chose Thrive because of other Google reviews combined with our interactions with Travis during the quote and design process. We found the same to be true as other reviewers, which was his crew was very positive, helpful, energetic, and some of the hardest workers on our project. They were the first to arrive in the morning, worked hard and fast all day, and stayed often until dark. Ben the owner was incredibly easy to work with and made coordinating the quotes between 3 different houses sharing common fences very simple. Ben was very accommodating as we worked though multiple rounds of revisions to the quotes due to new requirements from the various houses. He quickly made the updates and got the revised quotes sent out. From a customer service and price standpoint, Good Neighbors Fence was easily the best of the 3 companies we requested quotes from. As for the quality of the fence, we could not be happier. Ben was on-site at least once or twice a day to supervise the crew throughout the 3 day installation. The actual crew was very professional and completed all the work with good attention to detail. They did a fantastic job keeping the work site clean throughout the day, and always made sure everything was orgainized before they left for the day. As always there were a few very minor details to be addressed on the final walk-through, but each item was quickly resolved by the team with a smile. The fence looked great at first.. it is just over a year old and has been stained at sealed twice. There were corners cut and cheap lumber was used. By the way...She took off and left our deck unfinished. When I called to ask when it would be finished she said that she lost her trailer. We have a ground level wooden patio with a metal veranda that was in sore need of having the…read morefloorboards replaced. Initially, we planned to do the work ourselves. We bought/stained pressure treated lumber and did the demo work of pulling up the old porch. We soon discovered to our dismay that the underlying frame and columns holding up the veranda were varying degrees of rotted-out and needed to be replaced entirely. We wanted the job done right, and so we decided to find a contractor to work with. After doing some research on Yelp, I reached out to a handful of deck building specialists. Originally, Deck N Cable Railing wasn't even on my radar. Yelp has the function that if you click a button, it'll automatically duplicate your request and send it to an additional handful of businesses. I didn't even realize that I had accidentally done this. I'm so glad I did because Deck N Cable Railing was one of the businesses that Yelp sent my way. First off, they were very fast at responding to my request for info. They reached out, asked for a bit of additional information, and then offered to come out to give a free estimate in person within 24 hours. Juan Pena, the owner, arrived on time for the appointment. He listened attentively to our needs and evaluated the job that needed to be done quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. He was sensitive to our desire to not let the lumber we had already bought/stained go to waste and made a plan to utilize it. He was also able to give us a quote on the spot which was really helpful. On the day of the installation, Juan arrived with his crew members, Jovial and Alejandro, to help get this situated for the job before he left for the day to attend to other projects. Jovial and Alejandro spoke limited English, but they used their smartphones and Google Translate to communicate with me when a question came up and so communication worked out just fine. Jovial and Alejandro were friendly, professional,and very hard workers. They were fast and fastidious and kept the job site neat. Juan had said that it may take up to two days to finish the job, but his crew were almost complete by the end of the first day. There was a minor issue with the frame visibly sticking out just a bit at one corner of the terminating edge of the porch. It wasn't a structural issue, more of a minor cosmetic issue, but I discussed the issue with Juan, and he immediately came up with a suitable solution to address my concerns. He joined Jovial and Alejandro on the morning of the second day of the installation to personally inspect their work. The job was finished within an hour or two on the second day. All in all, Juan and his team did an excellent job with the porch. It looks fantastic and feels exceptionally sturdy. We're very happy with the quality of the work, and we are looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come. We'd recommend Deck N Cable Railing without reservation based on the quality and efficiency of their work alone, but that's not the only reason you should consider giving them a call. Juan was very easy to work with. He's professional, responsive, friendly, and conscientious. He takes a lot of pride in his work and it's important to him that his clients are 100% satisfied with the work done. Moreover, his pricing is very reasonable. His quote for the job was by far the most reasonably and competitively priced bid. Finally, and this is a bit embarrassing, I accidentally overpaid for the job. I paid Juan in cash, handing him an envelope with cash, without realizing that I had miscounted it. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from Juan that evening (apologizing for calling so late!), to let me know that I overpaid him, and he wanted to schedule a time when it was convenient for me for him to stop by in person to return the amount I overpaid. That's integrity, folks. If, like me, Deck N Cable Railing isn't on your radar, they should be. Solid 5 stars.

I had a small section of my deck that that I wanted to replace (13 -16 boards). I had 2 photos of…read morethe area. They replied back saying that the whole deck needs to be replaced. That's a bunch of crap. They don't know what the rest of my deck looks like. They never bothered to come out and look at it. This rest of my deck is in good condition because it's covered and out of the elements. The area of the deck I want repaired is uncovered and exposed to the elements. This company is a joke and all they want to do is upsell you. Beware of this company!
