We were taken to the attic to see the scratch and dent air conditioners he bought at an auction. That is all he had to install in stock. I appreciated the honesty but should have been told on the phone that the price was for scratch and dent no warrant. There was clear damage to all. We picked one out that was the best of the selection then asked about warranty and how old the unit was and he became agitate. He had no idea. We were taken to an office stepping over a multitude of tools and parts the entire way. He handed us a paper for a different unit something I could have printed. I really wanted to give this guy a chance Even tho my gut said run. The process of getting estimates printed was slow. The more questions we asked the more up set the older gentleman got. First estimate was several hundred more then quoted on phone he admitted it was with out us saying. I asked for the air conditioner quote and before he finished he said "I feel like Im just wasting my time here, you already have other quotes. I said yes we had made calls. I asked if he could print an estimate for the air conditioner again. He basically said he was done with us. We got up and left. I don't know what the issue was this is the process of doing business. My gut said these guys are not on the up and up. Place is scetchy, very messy, no clear information on their work or products. Prices are only about 100$ cheaper than other places. There is a reference to being thankful to God on the homemade sign I was hopeful of a positive experience. I prayed while i was there. God clearly made the decision for us as the guy practically threw us out.

I asked if he needed a downpayment and he said "No".Before leaving the campground he said he needed $300 to buy the fabric. I wrote him a check. On 8/13/2024 he returned to do the work. When he was done, I asked for an invoice, he did not have one. He told me I owed him $1,000. I issued a second check. Later that day I received his invoice: 2hours for awning labor $300; $150 for seal labor, $200 for the seals and $350 for the awning fabric. I immedaitely contacted him and told him I already gave him a check for the $300. This was not reflected in his bill. He said he "screwed up" and would return the $300 right away. When he did not return the $300 overpayment, I texted him again on 8/24/2024. He then responded saying there was no overpayment. I contacted him again on 8/27 asking for my $300. Again he refused to return it. As of today, he has not returned the $300 overpayment. I have paid $1300 on a job he billed at $1,000. If you are going to deal with this man, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING BEFORE HE STARTS ANY WORK AND PAY with a check so you have a RECEIPT of of your transaction.

My estimate had a billable rate of $283/hr, this seems high for an RV mechanic and one that seems not to know what he is talking about. Beware.
