J&W BBQ has now moved indoors and includes Mr. C's Soul Food. What a worthy addition! I stopped in last week, having a less that stellar morning because I left my computer at home. My day immediately brightened when I tasted the salmon croquette. Full of flavor and massive, the croquette was just like my grandmother used to make! I also got a side of potatoes and onions. Once again, a seasoned-to-perfection taste of home. I didn't need the salt packets or hot sauce I requested! Now, if you're watching your pressure, this might need to be a sometimes food, but I would recommend the quality, value, and taste to anyone. This little truck/trailer puts out some good food! I went one day for their beef ribs, but they were out. That day I got the fried wings, sweet potatoes and collard greens. Wings had a nice crunch, just needed a little salt, sweet potatoes good, but could be a little sweeter for me. Collards okay. I still wanted my beef ribs since I really can't find them anywhere else. The next week I called ahead and ordered three orders of beef ribs with 2 sides for me and my family. They actually prefer a call in order for the ribs because they go fast. They give you 4 nice beef ribs and two sides for $13! That is so reasonable. I got the regular sauce. They also have spicy. My family (husband and son) and I enjoyed them so much! We don't eat pork so it was so nice to get these ribs! They were delicious with the perfect amount of tenderness I like. You can still eat them off the bone, but comes off the bone nicely. My sides were green beans & coleslaw. The coleslaw was diced so fine. I loved it and so good. The green beans (cooked with no meat) had such a good flavor I was trying to see if the guys would give me theirs! I can't wait to go back and pick up another beef rib meal. read more

This food truck is only a street down from where I live and I can't believe I haven't been here before!! So glad we did! What's great about J&W's is if you don't feel like eating BBQ, they also serve Fish. We went on a Saturday dinner. They are limited on seating (one patio set) and only accept cash. We got our food to go. I could not believe the pricing!! Very reasonable. I ordered the Fish and Chips (Whiting Fried Fish and crinkle fries) with a side of Mac and Cheese. My boyfriend got the pulled pork (on a Kaiser bun and you get two sides) - collard greens and potato salad. All this for $13.00? Yes! When we got home, I really enjoyed my fish (received a good amount and not greasy), fries were hot and the mac and cheese was very creamy. My boyfriend's meal was also delicious! Simply put, J&W has some of the best barbeque I have found in Cincinnati. No, there's not a fantastic view of the river (no place to sit!) or pictures of celebrities and athletes who've visited. This is no-frills, home-style soul food - at its best. A trailer on a corner and a smoking grill is all they need. My favorites: - The beef ribs. Huge, tender and smoky, you get 4 per order. - The chicken. The half-chicken is smoky, juicy and will easily feed 2 - Pork Chops. Deep fried and covered in their signature sauce. They offer 2 sauces, and will gladly 'mix' - which provides the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. All of the dinners are under $10 and include 2 sides. In the corner of a parking sits a trailer that hasn't moved in years. Smoke billows out the grills, while you contemplate on what to order. This is my new fav BBQ place in Cincy, even if the sides weren't all the great. So its the day after boys night out, which means new restaurant day! I'm still in my happy place from all that delicious food. I ordered the half chicken plate while Ken got the Chopped Pork sandwich. Both come with 2 sides. Mine was $7.50 and Ken's was $5.50. Great prices, but do the meals deliver? YES My half chicken was the size of a small turkey. It came fresh from the grill and was topped with my choice of mild or hot BBQ sauce. I have been in cincy a while and have tried many BBQ places. This has to be the best Hot sauce hands down! The chicken just fell off the bone and was so moist and flavorful. For my sides i got greens and mac and cheese. My greens were pretty bland and my mac and cheese was cold. Ken's pulled pork was piled high with meat and sauce. He said that next time he will ask for sauce on the side. The pork itself was excellent, he ordered the mild which had a bit of kick to it, but not as sweet as you would expect. For his sides Ken ordered candy yams and green beans. Both of which had great flavor, but were served cold. The do make homemade deserts here, but there was no way to even finish out meals. It was just so much food, for such a great price, and it tasted great! They also serve pork/beef ribs and a variety of fried fish. I'm going for the perch next time. So the location is changing currently in east walnut hills open Wednesday to Sunday? In any case....oh my goodness! Amazing. Ridiculous. So we went with just an order of the rib tips. $6. Huge portion size. Juicy succulent BBQ came drenched in our choice of mild or hot sauce (hot please!) and finally served with old school white bread on top. We spoiled folks had just grabbed some blue oven English muffins and substituted in our own carb. The portion size is excellent and great for 2 but you won't want to share. I saved some grudgingly to take to work for lunch and heated up well and was the envy of all present. Excellent operation. Quick. Affordable. Delicious. Not a great experience. Rib tips were very tough , i ordered one wing by itself that i did not receive but got a side of yams that i did not order. Nom nom nom. I do love the barbeque. Quite literally on the corner of a parking lot, this shack/trailer place looks the part of a shady, low-grade cheap food stop. However, that's where you would be mistaken. What you get is deliciousness. The first smell you'll get a whiff of is the smoker and barbeque located outside. It's a small but solid menu and we took the yelp recommendations and got the ribs, chicken, and pork chops. There was a little debate about whether we got the beef ribs (which I think we got) or pork ribs (which my friend thought it was). The size was in between the two so go figure. Either way, it was quite delicious. Drench the mix of hot and mild sauce over it and enjoy. The meat is tender and has some marbling. It's not the highest quality meat either but there were no complaints from us. The pork chops were deliciously fried and to be honest, it's hard to not enjoy deep-fried anything. Lastly, the whole chicken we got was definitely over-kill and for what we ate of it was very tender and juicy. Dump some of the sauce over that as well for full effect. On an aside, I love these types of places where you know that you're coming here for the food and nothing else. It makes the owners produce the best food possible since it's not like there's anything else to offer. There's no seating but to be honest this food is meant to be eaten at a park as it's perfect outdoors food. My wife and I walked down to try J&W BBQ after reading a couple of reviews. We got a sample of ribs and chicken with sides and it was a ton of food. Sadly we were disappointed as everything we got was cold. You could tell the meat had been properly smoked but when they drudged the meat in the (cold) sauce, even when I asked for it on the side, the result was a cold piece of smoked meat. All of the sides were also served cold (good for cole slaw, not good for the candied yams). I really wanted to like this place and I don't know if it was just an off day or what but I was very underwhelmed. read more

The Mac & Cheese taste like Kraft, the ribs were bland, the chicken was fried....I assumed a bbq place would sale bbq wings, so I didn't ask....didn't find out till I got home, ordered a mild mett for my son, they gave me a hot one, we threw most of it away. I love these guy and their food! I've followed them around the city. This is true bbq! I used to travel from Mason Ohio to their old location in north side passing many other BBQ spots on my way. They have to be one of the best in the city! I am a southern girl and I BBQ in any weather all types of meat so I can appriciate great BBQ. Be prepared to eat outside or take your meal with you.
